5 weeks, 5 silhouettes

Or, the week of daytime/ night time sparkle! I need to get a picture with my fab red scarf (a YLF Secret Santa gift from a few years back) but have yet to do it.

My silhouettes and occasions:

1. Fluid over slouchy for work at home.

2. Oversized over skinny for work at home & errands.

3. Fluid tunic over tube skirt for work at home.

4. Asymmetrical tunic over skinnies w. boots for lunch with friend.

5. Glam girls' night!!! So much fun.

6. Fluid sparkly sweatshirt over flares. Loved wearing this.

7. Cocktail party. I ended up wearing this instead of a dressier option I had planned. I just felt like it was the right thing at the last minute and I was right.

8/9.  Formerly fluid (now shrunken) over skinny. With my red coat because I love it.

Reflections: I am veering more into favourite fallback territory. Also re-wearing favourites -- I love a little sparkle and shine during this season so tend to pull out the shiny things as often as I can!

Fun moment: Walking down the street in the Pliner booties on my way to cocktail party. Solemn looking woman across the street as we both wait for the light to change. We pass each other midway. She says (in crisp British accent): "Those are AMAZING boots."

Yay for so many gorgeous Suz outfits all in one thread! I want your holiday social calendar. ;) Anyway, I'll just feast my eyes on it all. That boots at the crosswalk story is v fun.

  • Windchime replied 9 years ago

You look gorgeous, glam, and happy in #5!

Good that you went with your gut for the cocktail party; I love the whole result--sparkly asymmetrical top, jacket, jeans, boots, earrings--it looks effortlessly chic.

The English woman clearly has great taste. :)

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Lovely outfits as always Suz.  I am struggling with the silhouette thing and I don't see as many variations here as suggested BUT I have discovered I am very literal;)  I have to work on this :)  What I do know is that your outfit in #7 is just stunning.  I have been staring at it for ages now.  Just perfect.  Lovely layering and gorgeous lines.  So fab.

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

#7 blew me away too - so modern & stylish, so glad it was the right thing to wear :) You are looking so fab.

  • carter replied 9 years ago

4 and 5 are just unbelievable! Truly perfect. I can't get past those two.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

I LOVE #3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. You are not allowed to complain about your wardrobe for a good long while - because you look this Killer spectacular each day.

#5, 6 and & = Killer to the power of Killer.

What a way to end the year, Susan.

    *applause*

Wow - I want your  closet too !  Nothing here but perfection with each look. Really envy you your jeans collection - but you could probably wear any old pair and look good :)  Glad to see you are getting wear out of your striped skirt - always love seeing that piece!  Happy Holidays !

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Suz these may be some of my favorite outfits on you ever. Just when we thought you couldn't get any better you have reached total integration! Seriously, you are styling!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Stupendous! Your wardrobe has reached Nirvana Suz. Outfit #7 leaves me speechless.

  • Sharon replied 9 years ago

I love all of these - you look so wonderful! I am particularly fond of #5,6,7. You have layered things so beautifully. I love how you have swapped out the footwear and added a jacket to #4 and immediately transformed a casual outfit into a dressy one. And the book-ending in #1 is fabulous. I am going to ask you for advice once winter hits here. I can never manage to look this put-together and effortless when I layer.

  • Meredith replied 9 years ago

These are all so lovely. I'm especially taking notes on how to wear asymetrical top and your midi skirt.

  • replied 9 years ago

Wow.  You took my breath away in number 5.  I have never seen you looking so gorgeous.

  • Lucy replied 9 years ago

It is hard to pick a favourite because every day you look AMAZING! What a great end to the year for you :)

  • susan replied 9 years ago

    Fashion-inspiring!

  • Helena replied 9 years ago

Suz, you're gorgeous. That is all!

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Suz, you are knocking it out of the ballpark with this silhouette challenge! Seriously, seriously amazing outfits. I cannot pic a favorite as I love them all. And aren't random compliments the best? Such fun!

It's interesting that you've been into FB territory and re-wearing favorites (I've been doing the same). Why do you think that is? My guess is because it's such a busy time of year. It's great to have a solid, workable wardrobe in place where you can effortlessly do that. All my outfit photos from last school year have helped me tremendously in that area.

Your sparkly outfits reflect your sparkly, friendly personality, girlfriend!  :)

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Thank you all so much for the kind comments. Angie, I am blushing.  K2Ks??? Wow.

You know, I was reading Elly's post about being flummoxed by a holiday event. I SO know that feeling. Every year (until this year) I felt exactly the same. I finally have the essentials covered so could find the additional pieces for a decent holiday capsule. It makes so much difference.

Sometimes I feel a bit guilty for all my buying this year. And then I reflect that until this year I never had a well-working closet. I think I really needed to get myself up to speed before I could even consider paring back (if at all).

Also, note to self: More asymmetry for 2015. :)

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

This collection of outfits blows me away! I love your holiday sparkle and style.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Suz, ENJOY the fruits of your labour. Don't you dare feel guilty about it.

Perhaps the definition of a good wardrobe is having something appropriate to wear for every occasion?

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Wow Suz, logging in from vacation just to comment on how spectacular these ALL are!!! Absolutely LOVE #7. Soooooooo amazing! I'm so glad your wardrobe is working so incredibly well for you. Does it ever show. Cool story about the comment on your boots ;)

  • PalmFronds replied 9 years ago

Agree with Angie, don't feel guilty about investing in your fabness! I love especially the outfits with your asymmetrical top, really gorgeous on you. And I am coveting your scarves:-)

  • Elizabeth P replied 9 years ago

First, I'm not sure if I can say it any better than those above, but this is a fantastic week of outfits..  I think my favs are 3 and 4.

I think you are onto something with the idea of needing a good working wardrobe before thinking of paring back or whatever.   I have also been on a spending spree this year, and need to slow down. But it's taken until now to open my closet and feel GOOD about what I see.  Just replacing a few pieces didn't do the trick.  I now see options, possibilites, and am excited to find days to wear it all.

And I also feel some love towards asymmetry.  Bring it on!

  • Alassë replied 9 years ago

Goodness, my list of favourites is as long as Angie's. :) You go, Suz! (Are you enjoying this challenge now? ;) )

  • Sheila replied 9 years ago

Wow Suz !  These are wonderful ...really wonderful!

My fav ( being the color junkie that I am ) is number 2 . Secondly I adore that striped skirt. It is fantastic on you ! The fabric is stunning as are you in it.
7 - I agree...the boots ARE WOWZA!  I am envious of you in them.

Love the red coat as well.

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

Your WIWs are some of the very few in that category I hit the 'Fav' button for Suz, but I really want to go back to these when Winter returns here!
5 and 7 are just so lovely, and goes to show that those of us who don't wear dressy much can do it like a Pro with the right pieces :)

  • kerry replied 9 years ago

    Out. Of. The. Park :)

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Wow, I am amazed. I think I should wear sparkles more often! :)

Seriously, thanks for all your very kind comments. kerry, Lyn, Sheila, Alasee, Jackie, Joy --- feeling very humbled.

Elizabeth, glad I am not the only one who has this impression. We have kept each other company on our buying spree this year! :)

Palmfronds, Angie -- thanks for helping me banish any guilt!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

You look gorgeous every day! All of these outfits are super fabulous. I have a special fondness for both outfits with the asymmetrical tunic!

  • Gracie replied 9 years ago

You look fantastic in all these! My favorite is 7, those are indeed amazing booties.

  • Debora replied 9 years ago

Wow, wow, wow! What a stellar week, Suz! Beautiful outfits, every single one of them. Especially loving the festive glamor of 5, 6 and 7. Way to go!

  • unfrumped replied 9 years ago

Suz, these are all so great. That little black jacket us earning its keep, isn't it? The collar just works.Love the boot admirer- what a fun girl moment. Wish I could even stand up in those! And glad you are taking the fab midi out on the town.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Oh, and I appreciated the story about our booties!

  • replied 9 years ago

*plonk*! Way to go Suz! These are all so fabulous and you are such an inspiration. I'm loving the glam sparkly looks as much as the cosy casual ones.

  • texstyle replied 9 years ago

I haven't commented .......because I'm speechless!  What everyone else said, PLUS. :-). Give your closet an extra hug from me too.

  • Eliza replied 9 years ago

Great looks and way to optimize your beautiful pieces, Suz. Love so many it is hard to choose favorites. That skirt is spectacular.

Sums up your very productive fashion year in a major way. Bravo!

  • Elly replied 9 years ago

Oh Suz! This is one of my favorite outfit sets of yours ever-- I love the extra interest you've added.

  • sarah replied 9 years ago

These are terrific looks, Suz. And now I have a question for you: do you ever feel limited/frustrated by those black quilted booties? I've admired them from afar, but I do hesitate to purchase black footwear, because I feel limited in what I can wear with it because of the bookending issue. (I just answered Thistle's thread, which made me think of asking your this question). You are similarly blonde on top, which makes me wonder whether you've struggled with the bookending issue with those booties. At that price point (even on sale), I'd want to make sure I wore them a lot. Thanks.

  • Lisa replied 9 years ago

Yay to compliments from passing strangers.  And those are some fab outfits.  You are in a style groove.

  • approprio replied 9 years ago

Fantastic. You're on a roll, and long may you remain so. And, in my best crispest BBC English accent, those are AMAZING boots.

  • ManidipaM replied 9 years ago

You found your drape! And you're sparkling all the way too! Yay for work-from-home fabness that can carry you through to a cocktail dinner as well!

  • Sara L. replied 9 years ago

You look great in all of these!  And I agree that the boots are amazing. I'm going to try to copy #1.  I have maroon booties that I can't quite figure out how to wear.  I want to try rolling my jeans above them now.

  • harmonica replied 9 years ago

So many FAB outfits! #4 is my favorite. Love the asymmetrical sweater with high booties and scarf

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

Fun story on the crosswalk, totally deserved! :-) And wow, for that coctail party outfit in 7. The one with the  striped skirt is very girly, and festive, too! Great challenge and  fullfilled completelly, A+!
