A couple of white boots with a dress outfits and a K/D question

It's pretty easy for me to incorporate white or cream boots, weather permitting, because my hair is light (although more grey than white and cooler toned than my current booties).

Besides adding a lighter tone in the outfit up top, another simple way to make it work is with pattern that includes white or light tones.

A couple of fall outfits.

Question: what do you think of the little jacket in #2? Too dated and "twee", or fun and retro? I could style it with sharper pieces so it is less ladylike I guess -- I just threw it on here to look at it. It's a nice quality TeenFlo jacket that a friend gave to me; it has probably been in her own closet for eons.

You look great in white boots!  I love the long red cardigan with your dress.  The white jacket looks fine to me but maybe someone with a better eye will comment.

#1 and #3 are KILLER FAB. You had me with the white boots. Poison eye to some - COMPLETE SUGAR EYE to me.

I like the jacket in #2. It has potential. Need a little outfit creation session.

Beautiful outfits, Suz. I especially like #3. The booties look so good with that hemline and you rock the look overall. I kind of like the jacket with the booties in 2; to me, they give the jacket a little bit of edge. The jacket does have a very prim look, to my eye. So I would try outfits that offset that quality. Maybe pair it with some different jeans and the white booties.

You look great in those dresses. Now I think I need a dress with the white in pattern too. I like the jacket, but maybe better with jeans?

  • replied 5 years ago

Angie twin in #3 :) I like 1 and 3 best too, but think that white jacket is definitely workable. Im thinking with white or light jeans especially for spring.

  • Elizabeth P replied 5 years ago

Agree with the others, I think you'll be able to find a place for the jacket.
    Angie twin #4 :)

Lovely! The boots and dresses are gorgeous on you. Not sure about the jacket. It seems it might shine in a different setting...

Great outfits with the boots, white in the pattern works really well with them and with your hair. I'd try the jacket over a graphic tee or something along that line with jeans and also maybe with some wide leg crops.

  • nemosmom replied 5 years ago

I love your dress (rabbits!!!!!) and agree that the jacket has potential, maybe not with the dress.

  • replied 5 years ago

TeenFLo !  Haven't heard than name in years - and I used to covet the pieces I'd find at Winners (ha). It was way out of my league back then;)

My fav look is with the longer dress - just so cool-looking. I do really like it with the red print and red cardi too , but it reads a little more conservative.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Lisa, I agree -- the rabbit print Boden dress and cardi looks more matronly somehow. I like that outfit better with the red booties. And if I keep the jacket I have to find another way to style it. I know just what you mean about TeenFlo -- I used to covet them and could not afford! I think they might be the same people who are now Judith and Charles, though? Or maybe not....

Tex, I love your idea of graphic tee and crops -- that is exactly right. So maybe for spring. I'll hang onto it until then at least.

Thanks, all, for your help on this!

I like all of these including the jacket. My tastes do veer a little twee though, admittedly.

You wear the white boots so well! My favourite is the last outfit. Stunning!

I don’t know about the jacket. I’d try it with denim to toughen things up a bit.

  • abc replied 5 years ago

I like your combos, and smart idea on how to make the white booties work with a print.  I don't think the jacket reads teen/tween at all (despite its name, I'm not familiar with the brand/line, though).  I agree with Angie.  Outfit lab time!

  • Jessikams replied 5 years ago

I actually like that jacket on you- and that’s really saying something, because I generally have poison eye for cropped swingy jackets. The color works with your wardrobe and the collar frames your face well.

  • kkards replied 5 years ago

    #1 is my fav.....
jacket in #2 is nice (althought i have a poison eye for 3/4 sleeves)....wondering what it would look like with highwaisted jeans and a turtleneck.....

  • Eliza replied 5 years ago

Beautiful dresses! I like 1, yet understand your sense that it skews more matronly. I think if the cardigan was slightly shorter (low hip), it might shift that a bit. Jacket has potential, especially if the fabric is nice, and you rock that NAS dress. White booties are your friend. Well done.

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

I like the red cardigan in 1 better than the jacket in 2, but the jacket may be perfect for spring and bringing lightness to outfits then. I agree with Angie that a styling session is in order. Keep the jacket unless it duplicates one that you like better

I like all these outfits, Suz. Nice colours. Good for winter.

#1 is my fav, love the dress in #3 and I like the jacket a lot ,it definitely has potential.

Thanks for sharing your outfits, Suz.  I've been toying with the idea of getting an off-white pair, but haven't been too sure how I'd want to put outfits together.  I'm not generally a dress person, but you've given me something to consider.  Thx.

You have definitely figured out how to add white booties into your wardrobe effortlessly.
The jacket might feel more at home with denim jeans . I’m thinking the the volume at the jacket hem might be too much ..a sleeker jacket sweater might work better ?

  • Jaime replied 5 years ago

Love the white booties. I have a similar jacket as #2 so am eagerly awaiting your experiment so I can copy!

  • lyn67 replied 5 years ago

I like these all, including the white little jacket!

  • rachylou replied 5 years ago

    Great looks!

Ok, I have to be the outlier and say I find the jacket a little ‘church lady.’ I’m sure I just lack imagination, but I feel it needs to be less ‘nice’ somehow.

  • Sal replied 5 years ago

I love 3 on you! Gorgeous. I do like the jacket- I have a pink one that is not dissimilar - they are not the easiest to style though. Mine is an infrequently worn spring summer item but every now and then it is useful and fun!!

  • Mirjana replied 5 years ago

Wow, the white boots are fantastic, love, love so much with dresses, beautiful on you, especially like #1 and #3.

  • Windchime replied 5 years ago

First, both dresses are stunning on you. And they look fab with white ankle boots. I would not have thought to style them with white boots, except for YLF; it really looks wonderful!

Absolutely gorgeous! My favourite is the outfit with the long red cardigan/sweater.

Suz! We are dress twins with the boden bunnies - I am now inspired to try with my white booties! You look awesome as always (love the red cardi best with the bunnies)
