Angie picks in burgundy; leopard scarf; Franco Sarto boots.

I just returned from my road trip to visit family and returned to a huge stack of boxes! Mr. Suz did his own US trip while I was gone and brought back some of the loot. Other boxes arrived courtesy of the delightful Karie (and another beautiful and generous Fabber, but more on that a little later in a separate, non NAS post).

You already know about the Vince dress. I confess, I still haven't pressed it, and it's still wrinkled, but some of the wrinkles have relaxed, and anyway, I'm keeping it. So today I had some fun trying it in a few different ways.

First, dressing it down a bit with last year's BR sweater, the Halogen leopard print scarf (thanks, Peri!!!), the Franco Sarto boots (that I never want to take off my feet), and the Eileen Fisher knit pants. (More on those in another post).

Next, with the burgundy Pure Amici hoodie for a tonal look. The dress is a darker and slightly more purple burgundy; the sweater is exactly the cranberry red that looks best on me. Sorry the photos are such poor quality -- I had a lot of trouble with the light.

Trying different footwear options.

7,8, and 9 show how fun this sweater is. I can wear it in multiple ways. The hood can create a funnel neck, it can look almost like a cape, or I can be Little Red Riding Hood.  ;)

I luv the dress styling in #6!

Mr. Suz needs to take you out to dinner so you can wear that FAB dress ASAP! :)

  • Jenn replied 8 years ago

Wowza, that dress is going to be really versatile for you. I'm glad you decided to keep it!

  • Suz replied 8 years ago

Oops! I put it in the wrong category. Should be NAS -- sorry!

Glad you like the dress, AJ and Jenn. Me, too!

  • unfrumped replied 8 years ago

Oh, I'm so glad it works so well with the ?tights and boots so you can extend wear into fall, even if it's not for super-cold. But maybe the long cardi's actually help there, too.
I love #1, actually, using the dress as backdrop for the grays of the other items. The leopard gray is fab--may put that on my list!
These are all fun and stylish combinations.

Okay, first I suffered insane jealousy that you got to wear our scarf and I'm still sweating through the humid 90s!!! Then I read better and see you are just playing. So in that case, jealousy gone and I'm super inspired to see how good it looks with these colors. I'm going to favorite this one so I can come back to it in about 2 months and copy! And I love 2 and 3 also. It's amazing all the things you came up for with that dress. Serious out-of-the-box thinking!

  • deb replied 8 years ago

This dress is wonderful with all of your stylings.

  • texstyle replied 8 years ago

Great dress - esp. love it with the plaid pants but all versions look really fantastic. Love that new hoodie for you too and the boots - great loot!

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 8 years ago

The dress is fab on you Suz.  Of the looks with pants, I prefer the plaid skinnies and have no idea why.  I also really like it with bare legs and booties.  The booties are also worthy of coveting.  All nice.  You look so pretty in the deep red shades.

  • Marilyn replied 8 years ago

I'm soooo glad you're keeping this dress.  It's fab in so many ways.  And, look at all the outfits you created!  Fantastic.  If this dress came in petite I'd be all over it.  I adore the shorter length and would want to wear it the same way.

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

SO glad you kept the dress, Suz. And WOW. You had a great NAS. ALL killer pieces. Just the retail therapy that you needed. You look amazing in burgundy.

You are ADORABLE in that hooded cardi. I want to hug you.

    *hugging you*

All renditions are fabulous, Suz. I have extra love for #2, 4, 6, 7 and 9.

Try #2 without the scarf. That ultra tonal effect is very trendy.

  • abc replied 8 years ago

D*mn, Suz. You know your body and the colors that flatter you SO well. I am always inspired by your posts. You look so gorgeous in all of these. Honestly look how far you've come, I want to be like you when I grow up :)

  • Brooklyn replied 8 years ago

Fabulous looks. The dress and LRRH are both winners. Those colours really suit you. No 6 is my fave.

  • Elly replied 8 years ago

I love that dress on you-- particularly with the grey scarf and with the plaid skinnies. Good to see you, Suz!

  • replied 8 years ago

Love the boots and the cardigan!  Those are going to be great pieces this winter. That cardi wasn't even on my radar/didn't notice it posted but I sure wish I hd. Really nice!

  • shedev replied 8 years ago

I like all the ways you styled the dress. It is going to be super versatile.

  • TraceyLiz65 replied 8 years ago

Wow, love the dress with the booties. Great Burgundy additions for the upcoming season. The sweater is fabulous!

  • replied 8 years ago

Wow, Suz! Such well chosen purchases--so many styling options. They're all fab, all so different. I am *loving* you in burgundy, especially that hooded cardi. I honestly cannot choose a fave here, they all have me speechless. You look GORGEOUS!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 8 years ago

These are all great, Suz. I love that cashmere hoodie, and it looks fab with the dress. I'm glad you're keeping the dress; it's so gorgeous on you.

  • E replied 8 years ago

Oh I love your new pieces & how many different ways of playing dress up they contain. :D

  • Windchime replied 8 years ago

Oh yay, we get to enjoy that gorgeous dress on you again! It's amazingly versatile. And how beautiful is your new cashmere hoodie?! It's going to be so nice to snuggle into this winter.

    Great NAS pieces!

  • Maneera replied 8 years ago

Wow Suz.....all that burgundy loot is gorgeous on you! I love the dress....with or without pants, it's fabulous both ways.

The cute hoodie sweater is extremely versatile! Love this deep colour on you! I can see you loving it a little extra special come winter because it gives you so many styling options...and looks rather cozy :D You look wonderful in all these ensembles.

  • catgirl replied 8 years ago

Well yay! These are all fantastic and inspiring! You made the right decision keeping the dress for sure!

  • kellygirl replied 8 years ago

Love this dress on you in all iterations! So fab I can't stand it!

  • replied 8 years ago

Wow Suz! I love each and every one of these stylings. Both sweater and dress are wonderful. I'm really impressed by the different silhouettes and levels of casual to dressiness that you've achieved. It's like a masterclass!

  • rachylou replied 8 years ago

Styling master class indeed :) I love the plaid pants ones esp, because I have plaid jeans too! Ok, but I'm not sure about the red legs, have to admit that one...

  • ixmocane replied 8 years ago

All those dress looks are amazing! It is such a versitile piece!

  • Karie replied 8 years ago

I am so glad you kept that dress, girlfriend! You rock it, all versions. You really struck gold at NAS this year. It all looks fab!

  • jackiec replied 8 years ago

I am floored by how gorgeous you look in the burgundy & cranberry. Your stylings are fantastic. How versatile is that dress?! I love it just as much as a tunic with skinnies as as a dress. Looks like you've really scored at NAS. Love the Franco Sartos on you. I had hoped to try those on but they were out of stock when I was in California (although I'm quite happy with the Halogens). Great to see you again. Master class in styling, indeed :)!!

ETA I forgot to comment on that sweater. Oh my word it's outstanding. I had no idea it could be styled that way. I LOVE me a funnel type neck - pretty sure I would have snapped that one up if you were the Nordies model! ;)

  • replied 8 years ago

    I LOVE these outfits!
The plaid leggings and red tights are so perfect with your Vince dress!
The cranberry cardi is so cute. I love how you've buttoned it sort of A-line style.
Did I mention the plaid leggings?

  • Joy replied 8 years ago

I love that dress even more seeing your outfits dressing it down and for colder weather. 1,2,3 and 6 are my favorites. The little burgundy riding hood look is adorable. That piece is a lovely co.or on you. You had a great NAS!

  • Jaime replied 8 years ago

The dress and the hoodie are fantastic! The dress works so many ways, although I think bare legs might be my favorite. Also love the plaid skinnies and booties. Looking forward to your other posts :-)!

  • Eliza replied 8 years ago

How that palette works for you, Suz! The dress plays do well with your other pieces and I am kicking myself for passing on the hooded Amici cardigan. Love it on you. Your skill at proportions is remarkable, too. Watching your slim pants vs. legging discussion very carefully, as I have similar dilemmas with leggings.

Interesting way to think about approaching a seasonal wardrobe infusion- amp up one color or tone. It really adds major punch! Well done.

  • viva replied 8 years ago

I'm with Lisa re: that long hooded card. Was that an Angie pick? Was that really part of NAS? Weeping ..... :(

Looks amazing on you, and if you had modeled it multiple ways during NAS, I know I would have snapped it up.

  • Suz replied 8 years ago

Thank you so much! I do love that cardigan. It WAS an Angie pick. It didn't look all that special in the photo and if Angie had not said it was terrific on tall and petite women alike, I'm not sure I'd have gone for it. But the colour plus her recommendation were enough to make me spring for it, and it turns out the shape and precise drape are fantastic. It's all in the cut. I had no idea I'd be able to wear it funnel style, but once I figured that out, I was in heaven!!

Sorry I didn't model it during NAS; I only got it now.  ;(

  • Peri replied 8 years ago

I'm glad you didn't...I would have caved for sure! I broke my no cashmere rule once during the sale, but the only use I have for cardigans is very lightweight ones. Now that I've seen it though...

  • CocoLion replied 8 years ago

All of your pieces are great -- I especially love the cardigan -- it cozies up to the Vince dress and says, let's just stay at home, in cashmere and silk, why not?  Jeans, pfaw.

I hearted the Pure Amici sweater when it was NAS priced, but didn't buy it.  It is very hard for me to buy any kind of winter or fall item in July.  But now you are inspiring me to get it, as you prove that it does work on those of us on the shorter end of the average spectrum.  Must stalk.

  • Sheila replied 8 years ago

Wow ! I love the cardi ... fantastic.

Great boots and the scarf has to be one of my all time favorites !

ALL of these look great on you as usual !

  • Carole replied 8 years ago

Wow! All the looks are fantastic...that cardi is so fun and works so well with everything. The boots! The dress!
