Another mini-capsule.

I'm off on a sad errand, to see my aunt before I leave for the west. She's just been diagnosed with metastatic bone cancer and is in palliative care.

My travel capsule below....plus my white Wittner sandals.

Aww Suz, I'm sorry this trip is for such a sad reason. It looks like you've chosen comfortable, easy-to-wear pieces, which should serve you well. Could you use a soft sweater or wrap?

  • Elizabeth P replied 5 years ago

Sorry to hear that Suz.  You picked great items for the trip!  What will you wear the tops with?

Wait!  Is she in Pictou?  Let me know if you have time for a coffee at the airport!

  • Angie replied 5 years ago

Oh, sweet Suz. How sad, and my thoughts are with you. I know you’ll be of the utmost support to your Aunt in your casually chic, practical and polished outfits. Much love to you.

(Wearing our TopShop dress right now. With red loafers and light blue denim jacket. SNAP).

  • Angie replied 5 years ago

What bottoms are you wearing the tops with?

I’m sorry you’re traveling for such a sad purpose, but I’m glad you can make the trip. It’s been said here before - having a cohesive wardrobe really helps for last minute travel like this, whether it’s a farewell visit, time in a hospital, or a funeral. I’m glad you could throw together a good capsule.

  • replied 5 years ago

Im sorry to hear that :( I hope shes able to be at home or somewhere homelike instead of in hospital!

  • Katerina replied 5 years ago

I am so sorry Suz your trip is for this sad purpose.

You have such a stylish, practical and well structured wardrobe and this capsule seems to be well suited for this trip.

But, as others asked, what bottoms are you going to wear?

  • JAileen replied 5 years ago

I’m sorry your trip is sad. Still, your aunt will appreciate your visit. Your capsule looks lovely.

  • Style Fan replied 5 years ago

I am so sorry Suz.  Very sad indeed.  She will appreciate your support.  Having a well-planned capsule is always a good thing in these times.

I’m so very sorry suz. These visits are so precious but so hard. I’m sending hugs and beaming strength. Beautiful capsule. You have a fantastic and cohesive wardrobe. It’s a blessing to be able to dress like “you” so you can forget about clothes and just be yourself and fully in the moment. Sending prayers to you and your family.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Thank you all for such kind wishes. Elizabeth, this aunt is in Oakville. So no meetup. For you and me, alas. The bottom I’ll wear with tops is my J Crew liberty skirt. And the striped sweater is really only for AC environments. It’s hot and humid here. Denim jacket may not get wear either except on train and in hospital. My aunt is there now and we are awaiting news on whether she will go home or to hospice.

I am sorry Suz. It is always hard. Safe travels.

  • Sal replied 5 years ago

I hope you have some quality time together.  Important but sad times.

  • karen13 replied 5 years ago

Safe travels, and I'm sending warm and healing thoughts to you both. Sharing time together is so important for both of you.

  • Jane replied 5 years ago

A sad trip to take. I hope that you have some quality time together.

The capsule is perfect, (and I don’t think I’ve seen you in pink before but I bet it looks fab).

What J’Aileen said. So sorry, Suz.

  • Jessikams replied 5 years ago

Sorry for your difficult family news. Your outfits look really nice and will convey respect, if that makes sense.

  • Mainelady replied 5 years ago

I am so sorry for your aunt’s diagnosis. Your visit will no doubt be important for both of you. May you both be comforted by the loving bond you share. Your capsule is excellent and with ready outfits, it will make a sad time a little easier. Wishing you the best.

Your aunt has my deepest, deepest compassion and sympathy.  I hope she is surrounded by loving, caring people.  Sharing time with her will comfort her.  Best wishes to your entire family.

It saddened me to hear, but at least you can still visit her and you don't have to fuss with your clothes, this is a great  summer casual chic capsule!

  • replied 5 years ago

safe travels.  last August I spent the final seven days of my mom's life with her.  much laughter spliced between profound grief, the missing started then, for both of us.  may your time be filled with presence and cherishing.

  • replied 5 years ago

I'm sorry to hear this Suz, and hope your visit brings you both some peace and comfort.  Your travel capsule looks great - but don't forget some pants or a skirt ;)

I saw denim jackets everywhere in Toronto at our summer trade show, and I have a renewed commitment to find one that works for me.

  • anchie replied 5 years ago

Sorry that this is such a sad occasion. Your capsule looks great and appropriate.

  • pil replied 5 years ago

Suz, I’m sorry about your aunt. As others have said, it’s nice that you have the opportunity to visit despite the circumstances.

  • replied 5 years ago

I hope your aunt is resting comfortably.
Your dresses and other items are perfect for our muggy weather + indoor a/c.

  • Karie replied 5 years ago

So sorry to hear about your aunt, but it’s so nice that you will be able to visit her before you head out west. Your travel capsule looks stylish and appropriate for a visit in hot and humid weather.

I’m heading off to NJ next week - I guess I’d better start thinking about my travel capsule. Thanks for the reminder!

  • Beth Ann replied 5 years ago

I'm sure your Aunt will be so pleased to spend time with you.  There is something unique and precious about spending time with someone, when you expect it to be your last.  It's often less about saying "all the things," and more about being fully present together.

I love seeing the dresses in your capsule -- fabulous!

  • DonnaF replied 5 years ago

Your capsule looks great. So sorry about the purpose of the visit, but I don't think you will regret making the time. My mom would always emphasize that it is more important to spend time with the living than to cry louder at the funeral. . .Safe passage.

  • cindysmith replied 5 years ago

    Sending you (((hugs)))

  • Sisi replied 5 years ago

I am very sorry to hear about your Aunt. Your visit will bring her much joy. She will be happy to see her fab niece. Safe travels and hugs from me to you both .
