Autumn jewels (and earth)

On my way out to TWO book events tonight with a friend. Attending, not presenting. (Phew!)

Wearing my hot pink/fuchsia jacket (which was in storage in Ontario all last year) with new BR jeans, a new scarf from the Bay that ties together mustard with my reds/ purples (yay!), and my mustard sneakers. I almost wore the red sneakers (which I splurged on as well) but figured it would be more fun with the mustard complement.

I got some colour put in my hair last week. I kind of hate it. I don't know how visible it is in these pics. What she did was put some chunky black bits in behind my whitest portions with the idea of highlighting the white. But it doesn't really work that way, I don't think. Fortunately, it's no biggie -- in another few hair cuts it will likely be gone. Mr. Suz hasn't even noticed it, so it's probably not as extreme as it seems to me. I liked it in theory but less in practice. But the only way you learn is by trying. My stylist might have new ideas for me next time I see her and I'm willing to listen.

Hmm.  .  I actually really like your hair like this!  It adds some drama and strength  (is that the right word??) that works well with the brights you are wearing.  Of course pictures don't tell a true story, and I of anyone knows hair craziness ;)  It brings out your eyes and features in general.

How could you have left that gorgeous jacket locked up in storage for the past year? It's so beautiful!

  • Sal replied 4 years ago

You look terrific Suz - what a fun modern zesty outfit.

The hair looks absolutely fine and is a fun look - but I know that sinking feeling.  And sometimes you have to try to know.  I am more open on cuts than colours with my hair.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

KILLER mix of jewel and earth tone! Crisply Draped is a look you own, Suz. Such a fun and energizing outfit. Sporty Luxe and happy colours, make me happy too. You keep  looking better and better - rocking your classics with the trends. LOVE :)

    HAHAHA @ Mr. Suz.

I love your dramatic two-toned hair! Looking very fabulously 2019! Just for fun, right, and we need a bit of a change with our short hair. I get it....

Your silver head of hair is prettier, softer, more refined, and elegant. This is edgier, more dramatic, arty, more depth and daring. But both as gorgeous and all good!

Love the updated hair and the fuchsia/mustard combination!

  • replied 4 years ago

And I'm laughing at Mr Suz not even noticing. Mr Lisa didn't say ONE word about my hair either.

  • taylor replied 4 years ago

Suz,  I love the hair ....no worries ....it will fade a bit and look perfect to you in a Week or so !  I love the dimension it adds !
    YLF all round !

  • Marilyn replied 4 years ago

I think your hair looks pretty cool, Suz.  My Mr. never notices anything.  I swear I could come home with purple hair and he wouldn't even blink.

And, looking hot in your hot pink. :)  You've been getting more and more adventurous with your style.  It's fun to watch.

  • Jaime replied 4 years ago

Ha! You all crack me up with your DHs not noticing your hair. Mine possibly wouldn't either but I have a peanut gallery of critics who would zone in within seconds. My thoughts were exactly like Taylor's (not professional but yes very experienced with dark dye) - it looks very harsh until a few shampoos. I think you are going to love it. But perhaps I am biased toward black and white hair :) .
Love your outfit too. I think the mustard was a great choice.

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

    Thank you all so much!

Shevia and Taylor, good point about the dark looking harsh at first. You're absolutely right. I do like it more now than I did right after she did it (a week in) and will probably like it even better in another week. At any rate, if Mr. Suz hasn't even seen it, it can't be that obvious! ;) I'm amazed at all these spouses who don't seem to see the EXTREMELY IMPORTANT changes to our hair!! Of course in my case, it's probably because Mr. Suz's head is spinning from all the wild footwear I'm sporting these days. Who notices hair when you've got mustard and red and plaid and snake on the feet?

But Lisa, seriously? Mr.P. didn't even say a thing? ARGH!!! It looks so amazing and is so clearly different from what you had!!!

Marilyn, thank you! I like the hot pink -- it immediately brightened my mood to put it on.

Angie, thank you! Of course I thought of your spectacular outfit last week when I put it together, the combo of mustard, hot pink, red.

I can't believe how much it lifted my mood to wear that hot pink jacket on a cloudy day. It just lit up my face, too, when I put it on. Colour is so necessary in this grey climate. I feel it much more this year than last. Last fall was relatively sunny and warm compared to this autumn.

Pil, nice to see you and thank you!

Sal, thank you -- I love that word "zesty."

How great to get some things out of storage! That is a wonderful jacket. Very cool to have found a scarf that ties together the berry colors and mustard. I agree with you that the hair color isn’t quite “you”—but maybe you’ll have fun experimenting with looks that work with it. Hope you had fun at the book events!

  • rachylou replied 4 years ago

On the one hand, the black is on top of the white and I was expecting it to be the other way around. On the other, it really brings out your features and the unexpectedness brings a lot of energy... and now I don’t think I can unsee this and appreciate the more conventional way... lol! :)

  • kkards replied 4 years ago

wow...i would never have imagined mustard and fuchsia together, but you make it seem natural and fab. nice!

  • Aquamarine replied 4 years ago

Fun outfit and yes, it goes great with your hair! LOL at your husband and all the other spouses/SO out there who just don’t GET the angst we go thru with our hair!

  • Runcarla replied 4 years ago

The darkwash jeans are a nice foil for the modern brights. I love the colour and the clash of mustard and fuchsia. The new hair is actually a pretty sharp fashion look, but I understand it may take time to adjust your eye. I do love your soft silvery cap, though. Totally understand the desire to experiment/shake things up.

  • lyn67 replied 4 years ago

Well, have to  LOL, too, on some of ours' Mr.'s. Mine is not able to recognize me on the street sometimes-and is not associated with hair!:-)))
The outfit with the chusks and fuchsia blazer is TDF! Hair is now more dramatic so- why not! YLF Suz!

  • smittie replied 4 years ago

What a gorgeous outfit. I love the navy, pink, and mustard together! Wow! This one knocks it out of the park!

  • RobinF replied 4 years ago

Hah, what is it with men? I'm not sure my DH notices any of my fashion experiments except that now that the kids are all out of the house he is my sounding board so knows about it whether he wants to or not!

Love the fuchsia and mustard together, such a fun combination! I also think the hair is arty and dramatic, love your silver but experimenting with hair is necessary sometimes.

  • replied 4 years ago

Love your color combo so much!
    *carries off scarf*

  • Murph11 replied 4 years ago

    Never better! Wow!

  • replied 4 years ago

-Stalking slooooowly behind suntiger because I also want that scarf!

I mentioned on my mustard thread in reply, that I wear mustard with navy or fuchsia (among others)... however, not sure I’ve worn it this well!

Your outfit is perfect & your hair is punchy in a really standout & wonderful way.

  • kellygirl replied 4 years ago

Edgy hair for sure. I kind of love it. Your outfit is gorgeous--love the pink and yellow combo. SO fresh and fab. You look terrific!

  • DeAnna replied 4 years ago

I really like the new hair, and the outfit is just wow!

  • Cardiff girl replied 4 years ago

Great colour combining, you look wonderful, fun, fresh and modern.I understand about the hair but it actually looks cool and as you say will soon be gone if you don’t accommodate to it.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

"I can't believe how much it lifted my mood to wear that hot pink jacket on a cloudy day. It just lit up my face, too, when I put it on. Colour is so necessary in this grey climate"

Now you get it :) !

  • replied 4 years ago

The beauty of short hair is that you can do all of these different things and they can either be cut out or recoloured fairly easily !

  • Column replied 4 years ago

    Suz,

I really like the hair concept; the contrast brings out darks in your makeup, such as your mascara. Your eyes pop!

Perhaps you can try next time not quite so much black? Or maybe something a bit less stark—dare I suggest navy? You`ve got something going here worth playing with!

  • Runcarla replied 4 years ago

I think Column is onto something!

  • Bijou replied 4 years ago

Wow, that jacket is so amazing on you. How funny that DH did not notice your hair, it was the first thing I saw when I opened up the picture! Those shoes and bag are just so fun too.

  • nemosmom replied 4 years ago

Love this - you were made to wear fuchsia!! Did you bring any other items from Ontario that you are excited to put into rotation?

  • Janet replied 4 years ago

I’m late to this, but how gorgeous is that pink on you?! Fun mustard accents too.

I think your hair looks great, but I totally understand how it seemed too stark at first. I feel the same way when I first get my hair colored, as it always seems just a couple of shades too dark. But my stylist knows what he’s doing — a couple of washes later, it fades ever so slightly to match the underlying color (at least the part that is not turning grey!). I’m glad you are enjoying the color more now. I think it reads a bit more funky and trendy than your silver hair, so it’s a good look for you IMHO!

  • Debbie replied 4 years ago

I love your hair. The pink looks fabulous on you.
You have made me want those jeans.
I hope you had a good time.

  • Roxanna replied 4 years ago

I’ve missed that blazer! So glad you have brought it back. And I love how fresh it looks with the mustard!

I colored my hair a while back and hated it - but I think that’s because I hated the color it became when it faded. I think it’s smart to go a bit bolder from the start so it fades into something you like. (I went purple - which I loved - but it faded into a dull brown - yech.)

  • Helena replied 4 years ago

Gorgeous as always Suz - I just love that hot pink on you. Looks so fab, and the colour mix with mustard makes it super-modern, but still with your classic, polished grace grounding it all.

I like your hair! I agree with Angie - it's edgy vs. soft, which is different - but neither better nor worse - I also find that with brunette dye, it takes at least a week for it to settle in to the right colour (whether this is a bit of fading, eye adjustment, or a combination of the two I've yet to determine). I only touch my roots up and it always looks VERY dark until it's been washed several times ... so perhaps give it a bit of time to see what it settles into?
