Benched

Long time no see! I have been really busy finishing a book and dealing with some family matters but I'm still lurking and reading when I can. And tonight I have something to contribute for a change. An outfit that illustrates how fully I'm betwixt and between online vs. store.

First outing for this dress, purchased online last year!! So excited to wear it at long last.

Shoes, bought in store last year. Bag, bought online several years ago (BR).

Earrings, bracelet, ring, necklace -- in-store purchases. Watch -- online.

I've cut my hair back to a more classic pixie for summer. Will change it up again in the fall. :)

so classically chic . I really love that dress on you , Suz. I also enjoy your hair cut this way - there’s nothing like a classic pixie when you have such lovely bone structure .

KILLER to the POWER of KILLER

A little biased, since I have the same dress and love it dearly :)

FUN classic pixie. Looks beautiful in shades of grey.

  • Sal replied 2 months ago

Gorgeous - love the black with the tan sandals and leopard bag.  Very classy.  And a pixie suits you so well.

All the best with the book......can I ask more about it?

  • Mainelady replied 2 months ago

You make a most beautiful bench warmer.

  • anne replied 2 months ago

Wonderful look Suz. I love that dress, and was tempted to buy it myself. Glad that you are finally wearing it. The accessories work well too.

  • Joy replied 2 months ago

I hope the beautiful dress gets many more outings. Your hair is the best accessory ever. I am wearing all in store purchases but 4 of 5 clothing items are from thrifting or consignment and most of my jewelry was bought from the artist or to support women in some way.

You look wonderful - the dress, the accessories, but especially your hair.

  • shevia replied 2 months ago

Gorgeous! Love the short hair, eyes and skin are glowing, dress is beautiful on you, sandals are perfect. So tell us about this book! A hint at least? :)

  • Runcarla replied 2 months ago

Daytime elegant! I'm anxious to start wearing my new-to-me dresses, but wanting a few more degrees of warmth first!

Will you be extending your stay on the West Coast?

  • Suz replied 2 months ago

Thank you all. Answers to book questions coming soon. As for living. Yes. At least another year in the west.

Also. This is a casual evening look. Supper with Mr Suz at a nice fish spot followed by Ian McEwan discussion.

  • StyleDetective replied 2 months ago

Wow Suz, I just love this look on you. I love how the bag cleverly plays of both the black of the dress and the cognac colour of the shoes. YLF.

  • Kathie replied 2 months ago

So wonderful to have you pop in! The dress is lovely and the perfect backdrop for the leopard bag.

  • Style Fan replied 2 months ago

Gorgeous Suz. The dress fits you like it was made for you. Great hair as always.

  • Chris987 replied 2 months ago

What a fab dress! I always loved that shirtwaist style which was first “in” in the mid 50s I think and has come back over and over. You look terrific in it, your hair is perfect, so are the shoes and bag....YLF!!

  • Laura replied 2 months ago

Stunning as always! Thrilled to hear about the book and eagerly awaiting an update. The end is hard because you can be so wrung out by then, but I know you will finish strong. Well done Suz!

  • RobinF replied 2 months ago

I don't know how you manage to always pull together the perfect look! Love the shoes and bag with that dress!

Is there no dress shape that doesn’t suit you?You look amazing in this shirt dress,it’s got a real vintage fashion glamour vibe to it.

  • Christina F. replied 2 months ago

    You look très élégante.

  • Suz replied 2 months ago

Thanks so much for your kind words. The dress is so wonderful. The quality of the fabric is so much higher than you might expect at this price point. There is a reason Angie duplicated (and now I am wishing I had duplicated, too!)

The reason I didn't duplicate (and also the reason I haven't worn the dress until now) is that it is a spring/ summer/ early fall item for my current (coastal) climate. In Ontario, I'd have almost no opportunity to wear a dress like this (unless I worked in an air conditioned office, which I don't). Southern Ontario summers are far too hot and humid to wear a dark, sleeved, waisted dress. You must be joking! And autumn weather tends to be crisp and cool when it isn't hot. As for winter -- forget it! And spring barely exists -- you can go from -10 to +25 in a matter of a week.

The second reason I hadn't worn it yet was that I just didn't have the right occasion. It was pure joy to wear, though, so I'll be wearing it a lot more in the next few weeks!

  • suntiger replied 2 months ago

Looks great- and welcome to extreme climate, isn't it fun! Love the leopard clutch :)

  • fifthandfinest replied 2 months ago

Stunning - classic but with a super modern twist. I love it.

  • Karie replied 2 months ago

Hey Suz! Gorgeous dress, and I love the purse.

  • Joyce B replied 2 months ago

Great look and so nice that you got to wear it! Enjoy the better weather on the west.

  • Jenni NZ replied 2 months ago

It looks amazing Suz and I feel the same about being benched. The way I shop now, I need both.
I especially love the little bag with it. And congrats on your book!
