Black and light blue

I liked this so much I had to try it. The light is awful and the outfit would look better with scrunched sleeves and these photos illustrate exactly why cropped flares are a NFE look on me (at least these ones) but oh well. I do love the colour combo!

Don't have the Find for the scarf but it is the same pattern as the blouse.

Suz - you look wonderful in this - blue has always been your colour and that combined with the soft grey works so beautifully on you. I cannot believe that you think NFE!!!
Great to see you wear those lovely booties too.

  • Kathie replied 6 years ago

Perfect version, in your signature style.

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

    KILLER

One of your signature looks and palettes. Sublime with your eyes and hair.

What are you smoking? :) The crops look wonderful, and you wear them well. I vote flattering.

  • LaPed replied 6 years ago

Super lovely palette -- makes your hair and eyes gleam! FWIW I haven't managed to wrap my mind around cropped flares on my own legs, as much as I like them on others -- yourself included. I think they're fab on you here, and you make them look easy to wear.

  • Christina F. replied 6 years ago

The crops look flattering to me, AND you can show off the boots. These colors are great on you, so I'm glad you took inspiration from the post today.

  • Katerina replied 6 years ago

LOVE it. Gorgeous palette on you. The outfit is chic, interesting and sophisticated. The scarf is perfect on you and the boots are super cool. The pants suit you very well!

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

You are all way too kind. I do think my own perceptions would be clearer if I got my DSLR set up again so that the light is not always coming from behind in the way it does now. It also helped me judge proportions better because the angle was more accurate. I'm working on that.

  • celia replied 6 years ago

Wow, you look so chic in this ensemble. Absolutely fabulous both with and without the cardigan.

  • Bonnie replied 6 years ago

This is a wonderful palette and you look terrific.

  • Amy Isabella replied 6 years ago

    Gorgeous.

  • RobinF replied 6 years ago

I really love the way you wear cardigans! Great combo here. To me those pants don't look particularly flared and I think are good on you. Of course, we are all harder on ourselves!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 6 years ago

Suz, you look gorgeous in this outfit. The snake print boots are genius with it. The cropped pants look fantastic; I like the pant-boot combo and think you wear it beautifully.

  • replied 6 years ago

Cute mix!  You layer so well.

  • Dianna replied 6 years ago

    You look fantastic, Suz.

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

Those layers are totally required, alas. It is -5C today here. Parka overtop for outdoor wear and I am fed up with it. :)

  • Sara L. replied 6 years ago

Looks good to me!  I like the grey, blue, and black mix.

0 here - and I'm headed out in a lined bomber and sneakers.  I am rebelling.

  • Cee replied 6 years ago

Here's hoping the warmer weather is not too far away :)

  • Cee replied 6 years ago

...and re your style, what's not to like !? :D

  • jussie replied 6 years ago

That scarf is gorgeous, and as always you’ve nailed the color palette.
You might like the pants better when it’s warm enough to wear them with a non-boot shoe, enabling your ankle to be seen. Sometimes seeing some ankle really helps. Of course in the interim the snake boots are very stylish.

  • JAileen replied 6 years ago

Beautiful, Suz! I love the scarf and how it ties everything together.

  • rachylou replied 6 years ago

    Wonderful, esp with your hair!

  • Cardiff girl replied 6 years ago

You look great as always.l hear you on the crops ,I think that’s because they look better with shoes rather than boots which makes them warmer weather trousers, but I bet you d look fab wearing them with pumps or block heeled sandals.

  • Jenni NZ replied 6 years ago

I don't see those as "flares" either. They look straight. Lovely soft colours and I like how your phone matches the outfit!

  • Mainelady replied 6 years ago

Lovely color combination on you! You really do look fab! Great scarf and boots!

  • replied 6 years ago

I think you'll get a different feel for those pants with a shoe , as Cardiff girl suggested.  A block heel sandal or pump (when the weather warms up) would show some skin and really define the look.  The boots are adding a bit of fullness/scrunch - ?  Also, I did notice what Jenni said about the pants being very straight for a flare pant.....all of this might be making it feel "off' to you.

  • Jenn replied 6 years ago

These colors look totally natural on you. I agree that it’s hard to get perspective right in a mirror selfie. I struggle with that too.

  • Colette replied 6 years ago

Yup, these are your colors! Love the grey cardigan over the blue shirt. I do agree a bit of skin showing may change your perspective on the pants. But I’m still all covered up as well because it’s freezing! No skin showing yet, I can’t handle the cold.

  • replied 6 years ago

Nice Suz! I like the outfit with the cardigan. There is that rule of thirds that makes the outfit look very pleasing to the eye.

    You can do flares crops!

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

Yes, Smittie, I agree -- proportions better with cardigan somehow.

I agree a bit of skin would help here -- just like scrunched sleeves. But Iwon't be wearing these particular pants with an open shoe or sandal because they are too warm for that.

You can see the flare on these on the side. I think one reason I don't care for them is they are too small. :(

But honestly, they shorten my legs by a lot, no matter what, and somehow the effect is much more obvious with these than with other crops. I do like slim crops and I like wide legs (e.g culottes), too. And I even like my crop bootcut jeans from BR. But those are a bit longer on me -- closer to ankle length.  My dislike has something to do with this specific pant.

  • Brooklyn replied 6 years ago

I think the pants look great on you. The whole outfit in fact. Great colours.

And commiserations on the -5. We are at 28 today and expecting 37 tomorrow.

  • Gigi replied 6 years ago

Simply amazing! These colors look spectacular on you. I love the layering.

  • Jane replied 6 years ago

The colours are lovely and I really like the cardigan and scarf.

I feel the same way as you do about cropped flares. They aren’t for me, and I understand why you don’t feel as great as do in other trousers.

  • tulle replied 6 years ago

You know, Suz, whenever you refer back to the time before you joined this forum, I am amazed that you ever had difficulty with what to wear.  You dress yourself like such a pro now, it's wonderful to see.  And because I have similar coloring, hair and build, I reap the benefits!  This melange of greys and blues is right up my alley.  Thanks for the inspiration, as always.

  • tulle replied 6 years ago

P.S. Regarding cropped flares, don't you find that the exact degree of flare, in proportion to one's height and body shape, becomes so important, it makes it hard to get them right? Just a touch more flare on these might have pleased you more.

  • Staysfit replied 6 years ago

Suz, I appreciate the leg shortening effect of crops, and can understand your concern. I think you have done a great job of styling yours so the effect is minimized and virtually unnoticeable. Your proportion camouflage is effective.

  • Jaime replied 6 years ago

Subdued, but still striking! Not bright red, not bright silver, but flattering and fab!

  • krishnidoux replied 6 years ago

You did it! How lovely the greys and blues here. I am not bothered by proportions, it looks cute and ready to go with you somewhere and do things :)

  • The Cat replied 6 years ago

These colours are so beautiful on you.

  • Sal replied 6 years ago

A really nice look - put together very thoughtfully.

I am wearing black and light blue today so will try and snap a photo later.

  • lyn67 replied 6 years ago

I thought of you immediately when reading Angie's post and this proved I've been so right! Blues& greys are your colors and  black makes a great contrast to them. Scarf ties everything together. As for the NFE pants-all I can say is I think the key is going a  bit longer (maybe more of a high water length) with their hem (if possible) and using a bootie which is  maybe sleeker(tighter) on your ankle that's all!

  • nancylee replied 6 years ago

Suz! You look super hip. And congrats for trying the cropped pants...as a fashion scaredy cat, I haven't gone there yet!
