Blogger Copycat Day 3: Epic Fail or Reasonable Riff?

Today I am reenacting what I wore on Wednesday for Day 3 of our Copycat Challenge.

This one seemed wearable. I had the right footwear!! I also had the pants and a denim shirt. But I didn't have the cool J. Crew sweater or the utility jacket.

I decided to play on the colour and the graphic boldness of A-P's sweater pattern and I chose my boxy striped sweater along with my new polka dot silk scarf, bought in China. For outdoors, I added a thrifted denim military style jacket and my red puffer vest.

I think in the end it is more like the "classic casual" look than it is like A-P's look, but on the wearability and happiness factor scales it earns a 10.

Now, if I could only remember to wear my sunglasses when I pose for these shots, I might even be ready for the blogosphere!!

    Lovely interpretation. i love AP but often feel her looks are too contrived, you have made the look "real", however I have to share that your scarf tied that way made me think immediately of the Wild West! I really like the combo but the scarf is throwing me off, there is something a little costumey about it to my eye, I think a bigger slightly more rugged (not silky) scarf could be a better option.

    I agree with Deborah regarding the scarf tie, sep. in combo with the denim elements! I think you could roll this up and wear it like a chocker necklace? I like the splash of bright color it adds.

    I like your outfit, it all works very well together, but the scarf is a little off to me too. I don't think it's the color or the pattern, I think the shininess of it doesn't jive well with the outfit. I like the shape the scarf makes though, and the clothes are fab.

    Suz, you are so darn cute! I like that A-P look too. I like what you did to make it your own. I agree with the others re: the scarf but I think you look great in blue and red!

    This is a fun outfit, it really is. I do agree that the shininess of the scarf seems like a bit of a discordant element here, as opposed to a cunning juxtaposition. I already liked it better tucked in.

    Love the layering in your outfit. You look so cute and comfortable. You are really finding your fashion stride here. I also think the scarf looks better tucked, but love the addition of the color.

    Hmmm. Very interesting! Thanks for this feedback on the scarf. I will play with it a bit more. I do think it might be looking shinier in the photos than in real life because the flash went off. But I also think I need to do one of those scarf-tying tutorials!

    Suz, just wanted to pop back and say that sometimes it's about what we like or don't like. I personally don't really like scarves worn that way but of course that doesn't make it stylish or unstylish, it's really a matter of opinion and taste. I want to affirm that I think this is a great looking outfit:)

    Deborah, you are so sweet! I thought it was a bit off but was aiming for a triangle effect to mimic the sharp points of A-P's patterned sweater; I think I would have tied it somewhat differently were I not in copy-the-blogger mode.

    Suz, I like the outfit! And in fact, I like the scarf. I think it adds a dash of interest and is the focal point of the outfit. The fact that the scarf is in a satin-y material with polka dots and a deep red makes the whole outfit interesting. So I might disagree with others, but I like the unpredictability and the fun element the scarf brings to this outfit.
