Boden sweater arrived #2

And I am apparently less generous than Anchie because I have no intentions of giving it to my teen. :)

I also picked up some more Boden knits that I'd had my eye on for the past few months, most items recommended and worn by Angie and other forum members. Brilliant delivery as always (3 days in the holiday season!) and I'm keeping the lot. Will try to model for you in the next few days.

This cashmere feels especially luxe and high quality and at the sale price was a no-brainer for me.

A very biased KILLER, sweet Suz. Isn't that the best cashmere hoodie of all time! Very versatile. And I don't even wear grey..... :) You wear it beautifully, and it's extra fun with the red boots.

The striped T-neck is a fab casual piece. I wear both items with great joy and a LOT.

  • replied 5 years ago

I like it with the red boots :)

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

The hoodie is gorgeous quality, Angie. I'm so impressed. It is very soft yet it also feels strong -- not like something that is going to pill super quickly. Every one of the knits (and the skirt) are superb quality. Every time I order from Boden I want to order more!

  • Angie replied 5 years ago

Suz, the hoodie has worn SOOOO well. I've worn it a lot, dry cleaned it three times - and zero pilling.

I hear you on getting the Boden bug. I am hooked. One of the few affordable brands committed to quality, colour and fit. I happily spend my money there.

It looks great on you, I am having second thoughts about my generosity;)
But I have to confess - there was another sweater in that package that I got to keep so I am not complaining :)

super cute! just before i went away for Xmas this Boden sweater made its way to me...and its fab. just as i have come to expect from Boden

  • karen13 replied 5 years ago

That is gorgeous on you and I can't wait to see the other purchases in rotation. I may have to take another look at Boden's sweaters for some petites, although I was the lucky recipient of two cashmere pieces for Christmas. But one can never have too much cashmere!

Glad you got the pink one Anchie :)

  • replied 5 years ago

The hoodie AND the hot pink pullover both almost made it to the purchase screen yesterday. To entertain myself while housebound and miserable, I have taken up on-line shopping and have been ordering anything and everything .  The sale prices are really attractive but I simply cannot justify another sweater at this point.  What fantastic delivery Suz!

  • Janet replied 5 years ago

I love it. You’ve almost tempted me to try it.

  • kellygirl replied 5 years ago

Wow. That sweater is so perfect for you and looks killer layered under the jacket. I love that look but I can never layer anything more than tissue weight under my jackets--I need every mm of space for my shoulder girth. I'll just enjoy this on you! Looking fab as ever!

  • Bijou replied 5 years ago

Wow, this really is beautiful on you and makes me regret not ordering it too. However, I have enough statement sweaters that are too casual for my workplace, so the Boden ones I ordered are just a little more classic and dressy.

I will just have to enjoy seeing it on you, Angie and Anchie's daughter.

I am hooked on the fit and quality of Boden.  I literally haven't come across anything like it in a while.  As I rebuild my wardrobe, I shop there first of all.

Here is what I bought.  (Pink).

This looks great on you Suz! I know this is about Boden, but I’m making it be about stripes and sales. I wish stripes worked for me, but they just look odd. I keep trying to find ways to wear them but they generally fail. I really should give up and thought I had. I wondered about the Boden top with the striped sleeves, but then decided against it thinking it wouldn’t see much use, plus I usually push and scrunch up my sleeves, so the impact of the stripes would be ruined. I tried the Lela Rose striped sweater dress recommended by Angie, thinking that stripes all the way down would work better. (I stumbled across it when in the mall) The fit was great, and I think I’m right about the entire garment being striped, but DH and then DD didn’t love the colors together, the burgundy stripe seemed distracting mixed with the rest, so it didn’t come home with me (not a 10/10).

Back to Boden, I also purchased the Bella cashmere hoodie and the matching Bella cashmere joggers. I chose the heather grey with a light pink racing stripe on the side. I didn’t get either on sale, and I rarely buy anything on sale. This year my only sale purchases were my wool Fleurette coats, some J Brand Jeans in my favorite Carolina cut, and two belts from WHBM. I wonder if I should wait for end of season sales? In this case I would have missed out on the joggers. I’m super happy with the joggers. They are not available in my size now, but the hoodie is still available and with a 50% discount! Hmm.......I’m going off to mull this over while I have some hot tea.

  • Kathie replied 5 years ago

Gorgeous on you! Perfect with your red boots, too! When I got the e-mail yesterday, about a further 20% off, I finally took the plunge on this one, and seeing yours (and Anchie’s daughter’s,) I’m so glad I did.

  • Elizabeth P replied 5 years ago

Wow, if only I wore grey, this would be mine for sure. But I just can’t bring myself to even try it... I’ve been accepting a bit of grey on some of my recent sweaters as an accent, I think this would just be too much though.

I also have another Boden sweater on it’s way to me. This one is taking quite a trip... it was sold out on the UK site, and Nordies won’t send them to Canada, the Boden site wouldn’t even allow me it to order it to a friend as my billing address is Canadian. So he ordered it for me (in Chicago) and is flying to his home in NB today. I’m going to visit a friend, and stop by to see him and pick it up. I’d better like it, for all that effort!!

How do you like the Berwick?

  • unfrumped replied 5 years ago

    Love that on you!
Do you mind sharing size info?
I love the hoodie stripe colors but afraid it may run too short for my long waist and I would also probably want to size it to a bit more fluid fit.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Unfrumped, I got a S in this sweater. I could actually have had the XS and the fit may have been a bit better, but the TrueFit told me to go for S and I did. My shoulders fill out the top but for sloping shoulders I might suggest an XS. It is not short. I have it semi-tucked here. It comes down   almost to my crotch at full length.

Elizabeth, that is indeed quite a journey! But that sweater looks worth it. It is going to look amazing on you. I love the Berwick. Perfect 'at home' sweater with jeans -- great weight for my new climate. I am wearing it now. Will model later on.

Kathie, I am sure you will love the quality.

Staysfit, I think the Triumph of Individual Style is the bible for figuring out why some patterns suit us or feel right and others don't. I have no idea why stripes appeal to me so much and why I wear them so easily. It may be that I have an angular face and they support that? You wear florals so very well --perhaps the waves in your hair are an echo of the organic shapes? I love certain florals, too, but I need to be careful with scale -- tiny ones don't work on me and neither do enormous ones. And some abstract watercolours are just too "soft" for me -- they fight with my energy somehow. I wonder, too, for you, if contrast isn't part of the issue. You might enjoy a stripe that is soft grey with soft winter white. Especially a very thin stripe? But never force it. You look great in the patterns you currently wear so no need to make yourself wear something you don't care for on yourself.

On the joggers -- they are also sold out in my size in the stripe or I'd be sorely tempted! They were just too pricey for me to consider at start of season. Plus I wasn't in the right mind frame for shopping then, with our move.

Sterling, I was SOOO tempted by that pink!! It's gorgeous. I hope it works for you. I was afraid it would be too bright for me and judging from the stripe in my Berwick sweater, it would. But it will work on your high contrast colouring brilliantly. Literally!

Bijou, that is smart and considered shopping.

Kelly, thank you -- and I know -- every time I see you in leggings I feel the same way. I look idiotic in them and feel uncomfortable.

    Janet, Karen, Suntiger -- thanks!

  • Gaylene replied 5 years ago

OK, Suz, the sight of you in that Boden hoody completely wiped out my willpower and I placed my first order with Boden late last night!

  • Karie replied 5 years ago

Sweet Sister! This looks fab on you! And I have extra love for those red booties. Cashmere usually makes me itch, so I tend to stay away from it.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Gaylene, that makes us almost even. Your information about gloves has almost persuaded me to place an order with that glove company! They look fantastic!

But I warn you, Boden can be a bit of an addiction. Sometimes the prints and colours feel too whimsical (even though I like a whimsical pattern now and again) or overly bright for me -- and I suspect the same might be true for you. But I'm actually willing to overlook some of that for the quality. At the price point (especially on sale) and with the superb service, it's really exceptional. The finishing on the items is lovely, even on simple cotton dresses. They wash and wear extremely well.

Karie, thank you! This cashmere does not itch at all. Because I know what you mean -- some cashmere does make me itch as well!

  • Jaime replied 5 years ago

That is a magical hoodie, which looks gorgeous on everyone and goes from casual to polished depending on the wearer. Impressive!

  • jussie replied 5 years ago

You look great! Nice styling, and I like how you’ve made the hoody dressier with the jacket and boots :). The lip colour also is lovely.

Stays: stripes often aren’t great on me either! But occasionally they work well- but that Lela Rose dress you tried on would be horrid on me. It’s such a gorgeous dress though pity it wasn’t a 10 for you. I must read “triumph of personal style”......

  • Jane replied 5 years ago

That looks super! I am very tempted to get one too now. It is a good price here too now. And there is an XS. It is the way in which you have styled it with the jacket and the hood out. Fresh, modern.

  • Style Fan replied 5 years ago

The hoodie works so well with your wardrobe.  I am tempted by Boden especially now that they are on sale.

  • rachylou replied 5 years ago
