Eating my words

Dear YLF,

Remember a few months ago where I said I needed a style intervention to stop me from continually buying everything, and I mean everything, in blue?

Well. It's all your fault. Because I haven't stopped.

Oh, I had good intentions. My first few purchases of the year were GEAR and I bought them in plums/lilacs/purples (as well as blues). For a bit of variety in my exercise capsule, at least. (See Finds).

And I managed to purchase an orchid silk blouse and a red top, too. Oh, and a pair of grey jogger pants.

But those blue Earth sandals must have been some kind of gateway drug. Look what I've also purchased...and what I just ordered!!

And what I wore the other day in slightly cooler temps than we've been getting, of late -- the famed "Juneuary" of the Pacific Northwest.

Well, if I can't beat my own habit, I might as well enjoy it, right?

    Suz those SHOES

  • replied 4 years ago

Those shoes are defiantly fabulous.  I can see how they would be a gateway to more blue in your wardrobe.

  • Helena replied 4 years ago

You're beautiful in blue! I enable with pride :D

  • Karie replied 4 years ago

Well, you look great in blue, so no wonder you want to purchase items in that color. I am loving ALL your J Crew items.

  • Sal replied 4 years ago

Haha! Now you did put the chambray to the forum but not sure about the others - so can you really blame us?

Jokes aside- the red and orchid tops look as though they will be stunning with the two pairs of pants. And you look fab in blue. So why not?

  • Roxanna replied 4 years ago

You look fabulous in blue... Ave with so many fabulous options at retail, how could you resist?! Enjoy your blue moment!!

  • Runcarla replied 4 years ago

I think of blue and silver as your signiture colours these days! When I joined YLF (6 years ago?) I believe bright pink was a contender - but not so much now?

You look really pretty, and your hair is perfection, Suz!

  • Wise Shopper replied 4 years ago

Blue is the new black for you!

  • Style Fan replied 4 years ago

I see no reason to stop buying blue.  It is your signature colour.  Very fab with your hair and skin.

If you looked in my closet you would have a hard time seeing something that wasn't olive, cream or a shade of brown.  I am including shoes and make up.

  • Mainelady replied 4 years ago

I agree that blue is one of your signatures. No need to avoid it or apologize for it! Blue loves you!

  • Column replied 4 years ago

You gorgeous in blue, girl. Rock on!

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

Let blue be your signature. You an easily sneak in a bit of berry if you feel like it. I think of Clare and her 10 piece wardrobe...mostly blue.

  • The Cat replied 4 years ago

Love your sandals. Wish I had a similar pair.

  • The Cat replied 4 years ago

And why stop buying blue? You look gorgeous in blue!

  • replied 4 years ago

Blue is great on you, and completely saturated at retail so tons of choices. May as well rock it! You can have my share :)

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

    KILLER look, Suz.

.....and don't bother fighting the blue! It makes you happy - and us happy seeing you sport your signature colour so beautifully. It's natural and innate. Milk it.

And I spot a touch of purple in the silk shirt so you're off the hook.

    (Not impressed with our June-uary....)

  • Jaime replied 4 years ago

Suz you crack me up! Thank you for the big smile and you look smashing in blue. If it ain't broke...

  • sarah replied 4 years ago

Why fight it? You look great in blue.

  • Jessikams replied 4 years ago

    Those jcrew jeans are fab!

  • rachylou replied 4 years ago

When it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be!

  • replied 4 years ago

Love those JCrew jeans , and agree that your hair is particularly great right now . What is the jacket you are wearing ? And the tee?

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 4 years ago

You're a riot, Suz. That outfit is super cute on you. And these buys don't look like too much blue to me. There's some white mixed in, and denim is a neutral!

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Ha, I just got a haircut (after that photo!) But it was behaving reasonably well that day. It did need some pruning.

Thanks for enabling my blues. I'll let you know if the new things work out.

LisaP, the jacket is from several years ago from Nordstrom. I think this is year 3. I don't wear it for many weeks of the year (even here in Vancouver) but when I do wear it, I tend to wear it a couple of times per week. It needs faded jeans or something to toughen it a bit.

Sally, you're right. I didn't check in on the new purchases. They're not actual purchases yet, really -- on order, but I might return. So we shall see!

  • Cardiff girl replied 4 years ago

What’s wrong with having a lot of blue I ask?Its the biggest percentage of my wardrobe as well, blue is obviously our black.Seconding the love for the jacket and the new blue shoes.

  • Liesbeth replied 4 years ago

Funny. I have lots of blue too, but everytime I have too much I get notions of a school girl in uniform and that steers me towards otherneutrals and complementary colors :).
Your blue outfits, however, are anything but academic, so keep doing you!

  • kkards replied 4 years ago

well....as another "really do i need more blue person" i say go for it, its hard to fight love.....and FYI, this is what i've bought recently (and did i need more stripes?)

    and YLF

  • April replied 4 years ago

When I was a child, there was a silly game where you would ask an unsuspecting person their favorite color, and then you would reply with a rhyming chant.

    e.g.

    Red red, wet the bed

As I recall, the response for "blue" was

    Blue, blue, God loves you

    I'll create the non-theistic version:

Blue, blue, blue loves you.  :)

  • Chris987 replied 4 years ago

If blue clothing is your most serious addiction, you are in a very good place :-)  Love the idea of blue shoes as a gateway drug :-)

And where in the world did you find such sophisticated Earth sandals? I love the brand but all the ones I've ever seen (mostly online)  are much more sporty.

  • Bijou replied 4 years ago

Oh no, I should not have read this post because now I want that JCrew shirt - it has lilac tigers!!! You will be stunning in all of these purchases.

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Bijou....pssst....there are TROUSERS, too. I didn't order them. I am tempted, though. It does look a bit like a pajama set with both together, but a gorgeous one. Reviews for the shirt are extremely positive. Collection items tend to be high quality.

Not that I am enabling, or anything. :)

  • karen13 replied 4 years ago

I want to steal your wardrobe. Every single bit of it. Can’t wait to see the WIWs! Please post a review and pics of the j crew wide leg crops, this may be the year I give that silhouette a try. I wish I could find the Earth sandals in a wide width/lower heel, they are the best.

  • nemosmom replied 4 years ago

Blue makes your eyes dance, and you wear them beautifully! Milk it!

  • Dana replied 4 years ago

I haven't read all the posts, but I counted your items. Less than half of them are blue! (by 1). Hey, if you love it, you love it! I love purple, but I can't find that many clothes I like in purple.

Suz, you have the CUTEST style!!!

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

I know I left a reply yesterday but must have forgotten to hit Submit. Enjoys the blue. It can be your signature and you can always sneak in a little of the berry colors to change things. When I think of blue, I think of member Clearly Clare. Didn’t she have a 20 piece wardrobe with three dresses, all blue?

  • Elizabeth P replied 4 years ago

Well, _I_ am never going to tell or encourage you to stop buying blue :).  All these pieces look great, I'm sure you'll enjoy them all.  I tried the BR navy animal tank but the neckline was way too high for me.

Can you tell me about the tee you're wearing in the pic?  YLF by the way.  And I'm sorry to hear your amazing weather hasn't continued.  We are still sub 20 here, and have even had several single digit days since I got back.  YUCK.

Joy, didn't Clare do a 10 piece wardrobe?

  • Jules replied 4 years ago

    If it ain’t broke...?

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Elizabeth, the T is by Out of Print. I get almost all my graphic tees there. They are book themed. Which suits me. :)

I have the library stamp one, The Raven, and a few more.

Thanks for the enabling, all. And yes, Claire had an an amazing wardrobe of mostly thrifted items and many were blue. Loved her posts!

  • Christina F. replied 4 years ago

    What Jules said :)

Also, I unsurprisingly tried on that tiger blouse too, but the style is too straight for my body. A petite size might have helped but they don't offer it *sob*

  • LaPed replied 4 years ago

I adore those multi-blue sandals. With a lower heel, I'd be all over them. They look more like Campers than Earth shoes -- wow! Can't go wrong with blue, I say.

I've been finding some nice fuchsias and raspberries this year too, much like those in your gear capsule. I love the way those shades look with navy.

I've only added one blue item this year, the heathered sweater from Everlane. Magical colour that goes with everything -- like chambray in knitwear form.

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Lovely sweater, LaPed. I'm off to check off your fucshia finds. I could use some of that.

  • Cee replied 4 years ago

Wow to the power of WOW !!
