Festive Challenge Week 2

So, this week was an even bigger fail when it comes to festive dressing. Not only did I dress in a fairly ordinary way (most days) but I also forgot to take photos!

I did manage two pics. One, the sweater dress outfit, which wasn't exactly "festive" but which felt very nice for going out for lunch with Mr. Suz. I wore it another time with a red scarf for a bit more of a holiday feel when we went to a holiday concert. The dress is performing really well so far. Just what I wanted. Cozy and lightweight. No bagging yet.

The other outfit was for a small supper party I hosted. I actually wore my indoor silver booties that night -- but forgot to take a photo. Luckily, I wore the same outfit a few nights later to take my teen to Beauty and the Beast. It was pouring that night, though, so I chose my waterproof Blondos to wear to the theatre. I like this shiny foil sweater for casual holiday events.

The Olivia CoH jeans are great, by the way -- I've really been enjoying them. They are kind of like a high waisted slim boyfriend, if that makes sense.

Photos are not that great. We are well and truly into the rainy season here and it is dark most of the day!

Suz, I missed this challenge but whatever the guidelines are, you look wonderful and festive!  (And I know, such an otherwise gloomy time of year, right?)

Great sweater Suz! Love it with your black jeans - I’m thinking I need to get over my black jeans phobia and try them again . Is the sweater new ? i e in stores now ? Link just takes me to the CM home page .

Both look great - jeans are super. I wear black jeans more than blue lately and these are just the ticket.

Whoa! So gorgeous! You look equally stunning in pants and dresses. Love these festive looks!

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Thanks, Kelly -- that's a sweet thing to say -- and right back at you!!

Shevia, yes, I've been wearing black jeans more lately, too. This is the first pair I've had in many years and I like them.

Lisa, the sweater is really old -- four or five years maybe. So not in stores now. I like how festive items like this don't really date.

So gloomy here in the PNW, April. But I am not complaining because the temps. are better than back east. And we had a GORGEOUS fall.

Love both outfits but am green over that sweater dress. How is the sizing and how long is the dress? Sorry about your rainy season. The dark can get depressing.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Joy, thank you. The dress is a generous fit. But not "huge" (in my view) as the reviews report. It is meant to fit as a shift, not a sheath, so it is not body defining. It is just slightly oversized on the shoulder for me in my regular size (but meant to be, I believe) and fits well elsewhere. The length is just at the knee on 5'4" me in my regular XS. More or less where it sits on the (much taller!) model. Go figure, but that is how it is. I would like it longer, but that length is acceptable. I just didn't want it to be a mini. Because it is not snug, it doesn't ride up when I sit. It also doesn't cling to tights. It comes in 4 colours in the US. (In Canada it is not available in navy on the website.)

I don't think this dress would work on someone with a sloping shoulder line. You need a square shoulder (but not broad) to carry it off. It would look shapeless if your shoulders are sloped.

dresses also always seem to be the length on me of the much taller model.  Thank you for you reply.

Both outfits are lovely. The sweater looks fantastic with the belt and black jeans. And the dress is wonderful. You look fabulous, as always, Suz!

I just tried ordering the dress online but failed. I will try again tomorrow and hope it is still 50% off.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

    Good luck, Joy!

Suz, you pointed out that a smile and jewelry add a festive vibe to our outfits. I think both of your outfits are gorgeous and plenty festive! The shiny sweater looks great with black jeans and the sweater dress is divine!

    Gorgeous, Suz!

  • Christina F. replied 5 years ago

Looks festive to me, but in keeping with your daily style, which is the goal, I think. I’m sure you looked great when you didn’t get pics too.

  • JAileen replied 5 years ago

Ordinary for you, maybe, but pretty great nonetheless.

Great looks!  The dress looks good on you and I can see how changing your scarf/jewelry could really change the look of an outfit.

  • Angie replied 5 years ago

Suz, you always look beautiful, pulled together, polished, and sparkly - and that is festive :)

    I LOVE that dress.

  • lyn67 replied 5 years ago

    Ditto what Angie said!:-)

  • Cardiff girl replied 5 years ago

    I agree with Angie!

  • Joy replied 5 years ago

Ordered the dress today. Why oh why don't sites include dress and pant lengths !? I hope it works and is not too short on me. I am 5'3" but dresses usually look like the model's in length. That one is borderline.
