Gananoque Mini-Meet

Inspired by our Seattle sisters, Mona, Karie, and I decided to have our own mini-meet up. Intrepid Karie braved the border guards and bridge (without benefit of phone or GPS, no less) and made it all the way from Sacket's Harbor NY to Gananoque, Ontario.

Luckily, the weather cooperated. It was a sunny if slightly cool summer night. Mona and I waited in the garden of this quirky café about a block from the water. Notice the interesting decor. Not many restaurants boast a puppet theatre and a built in sandbox. This little guy was having a blast while his family ate!

And you've got to love that pizza oven, even if it did take an hour for us to get our food. (Apparently my original pizza was sacrificed to the gods of the wood fire! ... hmmm...do you detect a theme in my recent posts? Someone doesn't want me to eat supper!!)

Notice our amazing YLF clothing. I am sure you can recognize many items in these pics, from Mona's Zara jacket, Karie's NAS jacket from last year (what is this with jackets in Ontario summer?? Unheard of!!) and my Zara sweater and J. Crew top.

Looking great all of you - thanks for sharing!

  • Suzanne (ambergreen) replied 6 years ago

    Yay!

And do I sense a developing tradition of silvery shoes at YLF meets? That would be OK with me. :)

  • BethL replied 6 years ago

Oh fun! I'm so happy you were able to get together! You all look fabulous and happy.

  • pil replied 6 years ago

Great fun! How long did you get to spend together?
Suz, I haven't been around the forum much lately - I have the same J Crew top! For me it is a 9.5. Just one tiny issue with pattern placement but other than that I absolutely love it.

Quirky decor, indeed. How great that you spent time together. I wonder where the conversation went with limited time - fashion or personal things? Was this the first time you met? You all look great, and, Suz, your smile looks particularly lovely in the photo.

How fabulous! You look like you are having fun. But, um, what's that in the hearth--underneath the pizza oven? It looks like the bottom half of a rear facing mannequin?

  • MsLuna replied 6 years ago

Looks like you ladies had fun! How was the pizza? You all look fab!

  • Eliza replied 6 years ago

Great fun...even to see the photos! Enjoy the visit.

  • fathenry replied 6 years ago

    So cute, looks like fun!

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

Alana, that is exactly what it was!! Or at least a sculpture of a bum. I didn't ask. That is for the next visit.

    Like I said, quirky place!

The pizza (when it finally arrived) was very tasty. My crust could have been crispier. I guess the pizza chef was taking no more chances with my food....

Gracie, thank you! We met for about 2 or 3 hours, although it felt like about 20 minutes. Mona and I have met a bunch of times because we live in the same town, and Karie and I had met in Boston (and even shared a hotel room). With the three of us together it was like old friends. Mainly we gossiped about all of you! <joke>   In all seriousness, it can take a long time to talk fashion!!! But we did include some personal stuff as well.   :)

Oh man! You guys have ALL the fun. That looks like a cute little place, and I know what a blast these meet-ups can be. If could could have just been a little fly on the wall....or on that picnic bench....!

  • Tanya replied 6 years ago

Oh, how fun, and the food must have been amazing.  Everyone looks awesome too!

  • kkards replied 6 years ago

Looks like the perfect summer restaurant. And what a fab group.

  • Firecracker replied 6 years ago

What a great time. And of course, you all look fantastic. That's a great photo of Mona--she should frame it!

  • Gigi replied 6 years ago

Ooh, that looks like a great time!

  • Aubergine replied 6 years ago

Fun! Everyone looks great and, I have to say, I'm really envying the food choices at all the meet-ups lately.

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

Mona is extremely beautiful!  Much prettier in real life than in photos, although when I showed Mr. Suz her picture he said, "WOW, she is SO attractive!!"

Of course, he has excellent taste, LOL.

  • Sal replied 6 years ago

How fun, you all look fab!

The evening could not have been better. This place was so relaxing, the food was good and off course the company was fabulous. It was such a pleasure to meet Karie for the first time. She has a great sense of humor and made us laugh so hard. Here is a picture of these two lovelies with their pizzas.
I only realized when I was brushing my teeth later last night that there was something stuck in my teeth. Apparently, it was there the whole time during our meet up as my pic shows. Oh well, my YLF sisters can take that ;))

More meet up fun - Y all LF!!

  • Karie replied 6 years ago

What a fantastic time we had! DH, Cosmo Edward and I are vacationing on the U.S. side of Lake Ontario (Sackets Harbor, NY, a town rich with War of 1812 history), and I took the opportunity to hop over the border to meet up with Suz and Mona. Such stylish and fabulous women, and we had a wonderful evening.

Suz and Mona, I found out today that Sackets Harbor is known as "The little village that loves Canada"  :)

  • Sveta replied 6 years ago

What fun! Too bad I could not be there :-(
You ladies look lovely (and waving to Mona, my Zara jacket twin)
Karie, how was the Danier adventure? Did you get anything (I hope)?
Suz, you really have the "best" luck with suppers lately!

  • jackiec replied 6 years ago

Oh Suz - bad luck on your dinners!

You all look wonderful! How fun! That looks like such a great little casual spot. You ladies must have stolen the show looks-wise - so put together and stylish!! Thanks for sharing :)

  • Susie replied 6 years ago

Oh more meet up fun! You all look so pretty.

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

Hah. How fun. Love that the three of you could meet up. Small YLF gatherings are really special. Fun seeing the YLF fashion too. Fabulous all round. xo

  • Mona replied 6 years ago

Karie, that is so cool. I want to go vacationing to "The little village that loves Canada" too. It was so nice to see you in person. Hopefully, we will meet again.
