Gear update and review: MPG (mostly)

One of my goals for 2019 was to update my gear which was a mishmash of stuff, mostly bought at Winner's, and mostly bought years ago. Gear tends to wear like iron but even so, I had some items that had lost their shape/ elasticity, and a few Old Navy leggings that I was forever having to fuss with or they'd fall down—not a fun experience in the gym.

Lisa P has mentioned MPG to us a number of times and they were having a big sale so I thought I'd try some items out. The sale prices were Old Navy but the quality for many of these items is near LuLu Lemon, although of course I can't predict how well they will wear yet. For Canadian fabbers, especially, they might be a good gear option.

I also got the purple funnel neck from Old Navy -- it's soft and lighter weight than the MPG one, so they will complement each other. I now have a little "purple/mauve" workout capsule, and a navy one, with just a few black and grey pieces to mix with either -- which is nice because I like purple and lilac but don't really have any in my regular wardrobe. So it feels a bit "special."

So cute! Coordinating and attractive gym gear is an aspiration of mine. I can never justify the expense. So post and tell us how fab it feels to work out in! I need motivation.

You look super cute in ALL of it.

Great mix or match. My favorite is 1/2.

I love the striped pieces in 1/2/3. Cute enough to wear grocery shopping!

Having a distinct workout capsule that doesn't cross over to any other is an opportunity to experiment with colour that makes you happy - flattering or not. The mauve and plum shades are lovely, but the red, white, and blue is so much fun!

I also have colors in my gear capsule that I don’t wear in regular life! Part of it stems from wanting to be visible while hiking, and part of it is just plain fun! I’m glad you were able to build your collection in such a cohesive way for the new year. Must feel great!

Nice pieces - I especially love the stripes!!

I am really happy with my gear at the moment - I will add an additional hoodie when I find one I love.

I find a tight fun capsule does make me exercise more.  I do have a small amount of crossover with my regular wardrobe - more in winter with long sleeve tees or similar.

I like this fun idea, to use “special” colors in this capsule. It may even help you keep things straight in the laundry. My hubs can never figure out why one gray tee goes in the workout drawer while another gray tee goes in the pj drawer (the answer is fit! Tight workout tee, loose sleeping tee). Special colors can help with sorting.

So good to have good gear! You look great in it all and the funnel neck looks cosy. Good choices.

Brava! I especially love the side stripes.

Looks great Suz.  I esp like the navy and red stuff.

Where are you buying MPG?  Is there a store there?  I'm sorry the Bay is no long er carrying it, I'm not sure where else to go other than online... which I'd prefer not to do for the first try on and scouting out of actual gear wear (not sure they do free returns??) as I'm particular about fit in close fitting items.  I have bought a few of their more casual (less gear) pieces and have been very happy with them.

You look great in all of it! MPG makes excellent quality yoga pants and tops.

Really nice workout capsule! Everything looks great on you. I’ve not seen MPG in stores in the US, I’ll have to do some research and check them out. Those funnel neck sweatshirts look fab, I could use one of those for to/from class.

Ok , I want the striped short sleeve top. And the lilac funnel neck .  Glad you like MPG - I still maintain they have great pieces for the $.  Little story :   I just returned from my semi-annual buying trade show in Toronto, and two of the best-looking women buyers I saw were wearing identical MPG jackets ( I have two of them, as does Elizabeth P ) over leggings or slim joggers , and with a casual striped t-shirt and hi-tech fashion sneakers.  By far the most comfortable , polished and cool looking women around.  Yes, they were buying for an active-wear store, but still.....

I am going to wear the jacket to work today in their honour :)
Oh - also - the striped pieces are great on you - super punch of colour and interest.

Cute pieces!  I find that having cute work out wear helps me be motivated to work out.

Thanks, all. And thanks Lisa, for bringing them to my attention. I had never heard of them before.

Elizabeth, I did order all of this online. It wasn't returnable either because final sale, so I took a chance. I was pretty sure the fit would be okay on these items based on the sizing chart and the fact that it is all stretchy.

The price was very low on sale and well worth it. I especially like the capri leggings -- they have a nice "hold you together" feel to them without being overcompressive, and they have a little waist adjustment if required.

Very nice. I purchased some last year from MPG based on Lisa's success with them. I have been very happy. I also bought some tops for my two daughters and they loved them.

Looks so good Suz! I'll have to check out this brand.
