Indoor booties

I haven't set up the DSLR again yet but will try to do that soon and take more outfit pics. I've been wanting to record more regularly. In the meantime, I got fed up and found a way to wear my as-yet-unworn silver booties -- inside -- to a book club meeting. Ha!

Also another outfit with the long sweater, which is getting a fair bit of use these days. It is three years old and still going strong. I wore it a lot the first year, less last year, and more again this year. Funny how that works.

1/2: bookclub -- Out of Print tee, BR sweater, Fossil belt, R&B Dre burgundy jeans, Topshop booties.

3. AT shirt, BR sweater, Ecco booties, Kit and Ace trousers.

Love these! The sweater is right up my alley, if I had one like that I would wear it all the time. And I love both of the booties too!

OMG silver  booties and gorgeous silver hair and (perfect cut) make the outfit in nr 1-2, PLONK!!!! My all times fav,  best of You all-etc. to the moment:-))

    YAY

#1 is KILLER. Loving the silver with your hair, Suz. WOW.

#2 is fab too, and a lovely outfit formula for your lifestyle.

We are waiting for you and your fun booties on the West Coast.....

  • Eliza replied 2 years ago

Love these. The silver booties are fab with the tee and cosy cardigan, as well as with your lovely hair. You look amazing. Enough polish to keep you happy, enough comfort to make it work. Winning!

(This winter, I tuck my feet into wool-lined, fuzzy suede slipper shoes with a cushy insole at home. Comfortable, yet utterly devoid of your booties' style.)

Love your winter formula, Suz!  The subtle print mixing in #3 is wonderful (love the low contrast high drama boots).  I'm sure you're book club friends love the shiny silver boots, too!  Footwear is an easy way to jazz up your look without out dressing the rest of the group.

You must find a way to wear your silver booties more often, Suz. They're awesome! I like how you've casualized them with a tshirt.

I went off my long cardigans last year too but they're now back in the rotation. Yah, funny how that happens. I'm glad I didn't purge them!

For 2017, I'm expecting them to play a larger role in closet as I'll want to wear them with higher waist jeans (yet to be purchased).

  • JAileen replied 2 years ago

Suz, are the blue booties indoor also? I've wanted them since Smittie posted them. The silver ones look great on you.

  • Sara L. replied 2 years ago

You look great in your long cardi and silver boots.  I also have a tee from Out of Print (mine is Watership Down).  Long cardis are one of those pieces that I never feel quite right in.  I always feel sloppy, like I'm wearing a bathrobe.

  • Suz replied 2 years ago

Thank you all for the nic words!

Sara, I think it's in the cut of the cardi. I am easily overwhelmed by them. This one is very narrow and my other one has a very clever almost waisted cut. It is not voluminous.

JAileen, the snake booties are outdoor. We had a rare dry day and I took advantage. I'll wear the silver ones outdoors as soon as it warms up. The snake ones have a light lining which makes them warmer than the unlined silver.

Inquiring minds want to know. Did you carry the silver booties in a tote bag and change out of your snow boots when you got there? Or were you chauffeured right to the door? Or did the book club meet at your house?

(Envious of how great and pulled together you look, very bored with winter already, wondering how I could make this work.)

  • bonnie replied 2 years ago

I really like both outfits. The gray sweater is sold out and I'm hoping I can find one like it. It looks really useful.

  • approprio replied 2 years ago

Oh those booties! No room in my life for those kinds of shoes sadly, but happy to enjoy them vicariously. ylf :)

  • merwoman replied 2 years ago

The wear cycle is funny isn't it? That's why a little procrastination is always a good thing when wardrobe editing.
Silver booties for the win - you look so chic and modern!

  • Elizabeth P replied 2 years ago

Great to see those silver booties come out to play Suz, they are awesome!  I was very happy to find the SE Petty's in silver soon after I grew out my hair.

I am also trying to remember to wear my booties on dry days... we don't have any snow at the moment, so it's definitely a way to help put off the winter boot boredom.

  • Ledonna N. replied 2 years ago

Those silver booties are the truth. Even your casual style is on point. Really like both fits.

  • Emily K replied 2 years ago

I love the monochromatic look of the sweater and tee in pics 1/2.  And, glad you found a way to wear the booties!  I've been thinking a lot about your previous post about footwear defining the outfit...still trying to wrangle solutions that fit, for me.  I definitely have some footwear that is awaiting a warmer and drier day.

  • shedev replied 2 years ago

I like how you repeated a bit of the brightness with the belt in 1. Those are awesome booties.

  • jill58 replied 2 years ago

You look great--love the booties and the cozy looking cardigan--and I think I see my favorite RM bag in the photos too! I remember when you were trying to decide about it -- I'm glad it turned into a worthwhile purchase.

  • Sal replied 2 years ago

The booties do a great job of funking up the look - you look wonderful Suz.

  • Karie replied 2 years ago

I love the way those silver booties bookend your gorgeous hair! Hopefully it will warm up soon so you can wear them outdoors :)

  • Caro in Oz replied 2 years ago

Love #1 you are rocking this look :)

  • rachylou replied 2 years ago

LOVE this silhouette. I find it polished yet tough. That's got to be a grail of some sort :)

  • replied 2 years ago

Perfect , both . How did you feel wearing boots inside someone 's home for bookclub? Is that the norm to change into shoes / other footwear once you get here ? My ( albeit former) bookclub was far too informal /casual for that . I'm always intrigued by regional style norms . That cardi is perfect for/on you , btw. I'm not wearing mine at all this winter and am now inspired .

  • AM replied 2 years ago

This is great. Such interesting elements to put together. There is a softness to it but yet I see rocker too -- with some flash! Feels very fresh and intentional. Very cool.

  • shevia replied 2 years ago

The silver booties are spectacular on you! Wow, I think I will wear silver shoes today in homage!

  • unfrumped replied 2 years ago

    Great as always!

I have not warmed up to a long gray cardi when I always assumed that would be a staple for me and I've tried several brands and styles. I have not found one that looks right on me. Weird.

  • Brooklyn replied 2 years ago

Gorgeous statement boots! I love the pairing with burgundy. You look fab!

  • Suz replied 2 years ago

Thanks again, all, and sorry for disappearing. I'm on a short trip and didn't get a chance to check back in. In answer to some questions:

Lisa, my book club is really tiny, just three people. I felt totally fine putting the booties on. My friend who hosted was wearing slippers, a v neck sweater, and jeans; the other friend had travelled a distance and was wearing a beautiful knit dress and a dressy coat. So, basically, anything goes. :) Anyway,t my friend's house has cool floors, so I knew I'd want more than socks on a cold day, so I asked her directly -- "I never get to wear these babies, they are clean on the bottoms, are you ok if I wear them in your house?" And she loves clothes so was super excited to see them. :)

L'Abeille, I just popped them in my monster purse (the famed Minkoff, which I wear every single day I love it so much...no joke) and walked to my friend's place, and then popped them on after removing the outdoor shoes. :)

Ooh, those boots! Fabulous. I love this burgundy/grey colour palette on you Suz and the boots really shine in every sense of the word.

  • BellevueMissie replied 2 years ago

This is one of my current favorite outfit formulas. Tee, long cardi, jeans and boots for the win!

  • anne replied 2 years ago

Love the booties and the outfit. One you have worn them outdoors, does that mean you can't wear them indoors again?

  • Bijou replied 2 years ago

I know you have lamented that with your current climate that it is hard to wear the booties - but you simply HAD to buy those silver boots, they are perfect. You are most welcome anytime to come into my house in boots, I'm glad that your friend felt the same.

  • Suz replied 2 years ago

    Thank you Bijou!!

Anne, usually I won't wear them indoors after wearing them outdoors. It does depend on how worn they are and what people's rules are. Here we mostly remove shoes indoors for practical reasons in winter (which is so much of the year) and it tends to carry over to warmer temps. The bottoms get too dirty for indoor wear.

  • lpr200 replied 2 years ago

I love how both outfits look different but consistent with your style!

  • Momo replied 2 years ago

I adore 1. The silver booties are FAB

  • ClaraB replied 2 years ago

Omg, outfit #1 makes you my style icon!

  • Style Fan replied 2 years ago

Outfit #1 is so fab.  Those jeans are perfection.  I always seem to focus in on jeans.  I love the gray and burgundy together.  Great colour palette for you.  I have clothes that come in and out of rotation too.
