Inspired by the capsule

I love leopard print with all shades of red and pink.

I've been quiet here because I've hardly been around. Almost immediately after I returned from my recent family trip, I had to make another short emergency trip to spend some time with a friend in need. We went out for a meal, and inspired by the capsule, this is what I wore.

This is a very NAS outfit -- skirt and cardigan from last year's NAS, bag from this year's. Speaking of which, that will get its own post soon.

You look great! Nice and neutral, with a fabulous smile.

  • JAileen replied 7 years ago

Very nice! I like the bag and sweater with the neutrals. I love the top. When clicked on it, it was $9CAD, but when I changed to US, it went up to $45, with 25 percent off, so around $34. I wonder why it's so much more here.

Love this color combo - the deep burgundy is so nice with the leopard and taupe - you look great!

  • Suz replied 7 years ago

    $9 CAD??????

Holy moly. I have to check that out! It has turned out to be a winner for me. I wonder if it's in other colours? Of course I will have to pay for shipping....   ;)

Thanks for the compliments. This is an example of an outfit that looks structured yet is completely soft and easy to wear. The skirt is stretch, the top is a kind of light ponte with the structure built in (and not tight) and of course the cardigan is soft. I really liked wearing it; I felt comforted yet crisp.

JAileen -- it says $59 CAD for me. Harumph.  I paid less for it than that...

    Hardly any sizes anyway....

  • Sal replied 7 years ago

I adore that silhouette on you Suz, I am not sure that I have seen you in the peplum top but it works so well.

    You look terrific.

I hope your friend is doing okay now.

  • LACeleste replied 7 years ago

I'm sure your friend appreciated stylish and lovely you Suz!  Loving the outfit and will copy with my VC skirt!

  • Summer replied 7 years ago

I had to log back in to comment on your lovely outfit.  The colours and leopard print are  absolutely beautiful together.

  • JAileen replied 7 years ago

Oh sorry, I read it wrong! It was very small on my ipad - the 5 looked like $.

  • replied 7 years ago

You definitely have a winner here.  That top is perfect with the fab skirt, and the burgundy really pops it.  Love all around!

  • Sara L. replied 7 years ago

You look lovely!  I love that deep shade of red.

  • Joyce B replied 7 years ago

    That's a very nice outfit.
I hope things are improving for your friend.

Hello Suz- relatively new here but just wanted to say I really really like this outfit.  I struggle with more polished looking casual outfits and this outfit has given me some idea. Thanks.  Also I hope your friend is doing better.

    Great outfit, love the bag.

  • Beth Ann replied 7 years ago

Love you in pencil skirt and peplum -- this is one of my favorite formulas, and it's even better in leopard!

Thanks for taking the time to snap and share!

  • Barbara Diane replied 7 years ago

    Same as Beth Ann. :)

  • Angie replied 7 years ago

Killer Gorgeous, Suz. I LOVE you in that peplum top. Hope that all is well with the family and your friend.

  • Roxanna replied 7 years ago

I love this too, Suz. I realized that I struggle with being dressy and comfortable enough most of the time. Seems like you've got that covered in this outfit! I might have to buy myself that top :)

  • LaPed replied 7 years ago

LOVE that cashmere cardi as a topper. What a great shade of red!

  • Brooklyn replied 7 years ago

Leopard plus red = delicious. And this is interesting because I don't like red and white together (strong association with the uniform and logo of a well known bank here) but the leopard really changes up the look. Food for thought for summer because I love red (as you know).

  • MsMaven replied 7 years ago

I so love this outfit on you! I could do a similar version right now only the top wouldn't be a peplum, which I have learned recently is not the best shape for me. I will try it out next week. Thanks for the inspiration!

I love burgundy + leopard. The other night, I dreamt I found a bracelet I own in a leopard print and, when I woke up and Googled it, I discovered such a thing actually existed. I suspect I'll own it soon.

One thing that strikes me about this outfit is how you took two items (leopard pencil skirt and peplum top) that could be incredibly bombshell and toned them down with your choice of shoe, bag, and topper in a way that makes you look modern, independent, womanly, and competent. This was a dressing trick I remember my mom having the knack of back in the 80s and 90s, and one I feel like I never quite "got." In awe, as usual.

  • Windchime replied 7 years ago

I love your idea to combine the leopard print skirt with your signature cranberry color! And you also look amazing in the peplum top without the cardigan.

Looking forward to reading your post about the bag.

  • Jaime replied 7 years ago

My goodness Suz. You have never looked better! (As good yes ;) ) This is pretty perfect, oxymoronic as I might be. Hope things calm down though.

  • Mauvish replied 7 years ago

You look wonderful Suz and I really like the peplum top on you. good to see you after many days. :)

  • Style Fan replied 7 years ago

Love your outfit Suz.  Hope your friend is okay.  The combination of cranberry and leopard is very FAB with your hair.

  • Tanya replied 7 years ago

Great outfit, Suz, love the peplum with the tube skirt, and the cranberry with the leopard.  Hope your friend is doing better.

  • MTBGirl replied 7 years ago

You look fab! I didn't realize that skirt was leopard when you showed it with the Vince T-neck- I called Nordstrom's and got the black for the NAS price, just have to decide wether to k/r the expresso.

  • Colette replied 7 years ago

Burgundy and leopard, YES! You look so fab in those tube skirts and I love the peplum on you. I'm a big fan of leopard too. (And so is my niece, she told me when she was 4 that leopard was her favorite color. She is 6 now and it's still her favorite color.) Hope all is well with your friend.

  • Suz replied 7 years ago

Thanks for all the nice words and yes, my friend is doing somewhat better.

Jenn, what a sweet compliment. I think body type plays a role -- with a fairly straight figure it is actually not easy for me to look truly bombshell. Which suits me fine but could be a problem if my style preferences were different. I also think comfort is a factor. If you are super comfortable in the specific items then that comes across and instantly downplays any bombshell associations. Plus, the neckline on the top is not low (another de-bombshelling factor). And heels are stable and not wobbly so that adds competence.

  • lyn67 replied 7 years ago

Love love LOVE this outfit, all so simple, chic, and up to date, as Angie post today! And, OMG, YLF in that white top with your silver hair!

ETA: Love  what you have answered above to Jenn (including the comfortable items which can  bring in the right feel/attitude)!

It is, in fact, my motto for de-bombshelling everything:-))

  • Banoffi replied 7 years ago

You look lovely in that outfit.  The peplum top and color combination really suit you.

  • No Fear of Fashion replied 7 years ago

Love this outfit on you. You look very stylish. Great hair too.

I hope all is OK with your friend and your family. You look gorgeous, and I love that peplum top on you.

  • Eliza replied 7 years ago

Love this look. Every time I see that Amici cardigan on you I wish I had pounced during NAS that summer. Gorgeous!

  • Mirjana replied 7 years ago

Oh, wow, so beautiful, I also love leopard print with red, so inspired me to try with burgundy.
