WIW: Kimono goes to the theatre

Why did I never see what a great summer topper this could be? Perfect against the air conditioning. Thanks, Angie! Since your post I have ready worn it twice.

Wearing with the Vince Camuto tube skirt and Loft peplum top. Angie recommended VC pumps and new RL bag.

Gotta love it when something just hanging in the closet becomes a fun and stylish part of your wardrobe - it looks great!

I have to thank Angie as well since I've pulled more than one item from the depths of my closet due to her insightful posts.

Woohooo! And you look sensational! Hope you had a great night out.

Standing ovation, Suz! Love how you put that to work stat!

    Great look, Suz!

Thanks!! This is actually a daytime look! I am going to lunch and the matinee. Might dress it up a bit more this evening for dinner out with a silk top underneath and the Leiths.

I know...it's funny. On my days off I dress up more than I dress up on my work days.

Yay!  It's so great that you had this in your closet already...and that you wasted no time putting it into action.

p.s.  This look is so great for you that I think you need another kimono....in a print!  :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE this! So chic, so feminine! Skilful colour-blocking too. That skirt is just so perfect on you, right length, right shape... one small inconvenience: why does it wrinkle like this at the knee I wonder? Is it on purpose? Is it the fabric against nylons (in which case you are not alone, I have this problem too)? I had to say something, don't hate me. This outfit is otherwise so perfect in every way.

Yay for the Kimono getting out!

  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

Wow, perfect styling of the kimono!  What a terrific way to use the information from Angie's post.

    YLF!

SO INSPIRED.  Now I want one.

*changes style rubric to accommodate kimono*

    Thanks, everyone!

Krish -  that is so funny about the knee wrinkles! I hadn't even noticed them!  I believe you mentioned them in another post and I didn't know what you were talking about, but now that you mention it again, I can see them in this picture.

The truth is, I have no idea why this happens! I'm not wearing nylons. I suspect it is simply because it is a stretchy and soft knit fabric. Maybe it wrinkles up when I am sitting or something, since it's a midi. And maybe it is more noticeable on the cobalt skirt than in the navy one. (i have two identical skirts). But to tell the truth, I'm not sure it IS noticeable IRL. My (fussy) husband has not remarked on it and he usually picks at stuff like that if it is evident. Still, I'm a bit worried about it now, so I'm going to see if I can see my reflection while I'm out. Hmmm. Very peculiar!

    Fab Suz.

  • replied 10 years ago

Una, just add a dash of onna-bugeisha and you are there (that's what I did!) :)

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

Terrific both with and without the kimono. What a great shop your closet find!

  • Joy replied 10 years ago

This made me gasp out loud. Beautiful!

  • Eliza replied 10 years ago

Nice colors together and like the kimono on you. Fun to try something new.

  • Mary Beth (formerly LBD) replied 10 years ago

Wow!  Talk about the whole being even greater than the sum of the parts.  You look gorgeous!

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

You look fantastic! I love everything about this outfit.

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

    Lovely!

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Very chic, Suz.  The length of the Kimono is perfect over the peplum top. Glad you've found a way to help this wardrobe item join in the outfit fun!

  • Kari replied 10 years ago

Suz, I have a black kimono handed down from my aunt that I've really never figured out how to wear, and your interpretation is so awesome that I think I'm going to copycat you.
The VC skirt looks great on you, skirt twin!

  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago

It's simply gorgeous, Suz. Just so incredibly stylish!

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous! You wear the midi and kimono look like nobody's business. Did you order the skirt in petite? I thought I read somewhere you had to have it altered.

  • JulieJohn replied 10 years ago

You look thrilled, and that smile is your best accessory. The outfit is lovely, I love the kimono and think this one was made just for you. Great leopard pumps, too!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Kelly, the skirt wasn't available in petite when I ordered it (or not in this colour). So I just had it hemmed to the right length. Thanks, all! It was an easy look to wear.

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

How did I miss this, fellow kimono topper wearer?  You look fantastic!

  • lyn67 replied 10 years ago

Wow, these kimonos are starting tickle my fancy. Never had one, but haven't really seen it in the shops either:-(. This is perfect for a matine, and so happy for you Suz you could reintegrate this fab piece in your current wardrobe, would have been a great post on Karie's orphanes thread:-).
I  can also see those "creases" what Krish mentioned, but to be honest I thought the skirt itself was a weavy knit from the knee down....BTW if there are not there IRL it means it's only the flash or some weird shades, so doesn't even worth speaking about, YLF with or withouth them:-)
