K/R cropped sweatshirt, plus bonus boots

I have a few K/R threads to post over the next couple of days. Here's the first. And thanks in advance for your thoughts!

This cropped Zara sweatshirt looked to me like a fun way to participate in the camo trend. (I don't have anything else in camo print, but I liked the blues in this one). The light is awful again today so I have lightened a couple of these so you can see it better.

Now that is is here, I'm not so sure -- it's light coloured on the inside and because it's hi-low you can see that at times in movement. OTOH, it's pretty easy to wear. I put on a cami in the first photo -- otherwise you'd get glimpses of my midriff -- horrors! I am wearing a silk shirt underneath in the skirt photos.

You can also see my new Philip boots. SO comfortable.

I really like it with the skirt! Not so much with the pants, but maybe I'm just not used to the look of a cropped top with pants. Does the light inside bug you? If not I'd keep and wear with skirts. Love the new boots btw.

I do only see the boots! Gorgeous!

Oh, the sweater:I really like it on you seen from the front. The side view makes it look less drapey, but it might just be the picture. The white inside doesn't bother me. Fun top!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Ingunn, you are right -- the fabric is a bit stiffer than might be ideal, but I'm pretty sure that will change with washing. It has that sizing on it that can make new fabrics feel a bit firmer than after washing.

Those are some gorgeous boots on! I like your blue Camo in both stylings. How about with a black pencil skirt for some stylistic juxtaposition - I can't remember if you have one? The cobalt skirt might be a bit much?

  • Sharon replied 10 years ago

I vote keep! I really like it, but I am the exact opposite of Astrid - I love it with the pants. I think because I like the waist definition you achieved with the belt and the crop. I like the side view of the skirt outfit, but front-on it was a bit boxy for my taste. Just shows how subjective it all is! :)
If you just get an occasional glimpse of lining when you move, I don't think I would be worried as long as you like everything else. I could see this being very versatile. I like that it is a masculine sort of pattern, but with a feminine shape to the garment.

Those boots are beautiful. You definitely hit the jackpot if they are also really comfortable.

Boots look wonderful, and I really like the top. It looks like a fun piece.

  • Amy replied 10 years ago

The top looks cute, especially with the skirt, but that white interior would bother me.

Your boots are to die for.

  • celia replied 10 years ago

To be honest I see it as grey in my screen and the boots pretty much steal the show.
My vote is to keep although I am not very keen on it with the collared shirt.

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

Love the top! Definitely a keep. It looks great tucked and untucked. Boots are beyond gorgeous!

  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago

It depends Suz, I think the top looks good on you but not as good as some as your others - the Amber Sun for instance :) Love the boots.

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

    Beautiful boots Suz!
How would the top look with a white shirt beneath?

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Yes - it can be worn with a white shirt underneath, too. That's how they show it on the Zara site.

  • Nicole D replied 10 years ago

FIrst, love the boots!  They are perfect on you.  Now, the top.  I love the colours and the pattern but I don't love the side view, looks a bit boxy.  But you can tell it's the top not you.  I would like to see it with white top under.  It is fun!

  • Deborah replied 10 years ago

Suz, the top looks nice:)  But if you don't mind me being direct, I am not 'feeling' it for you.  It sounds you are intentional about adding a touch of camo to your wardrobe, but there is something about this that doesn't read 'Suz" to me.  I cetainly don't want to box you into a limited style but Im not convinced this is our camo piece:)  Now the boots... plonk.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Now that you mention it, Deborah -- I'd actually decided to give the camo print trend a pass -- it's not really me, period. But. What attracted me to this top was the actual colours (which unfortunately don't really show well here) and the cropped shape. I thought -- aha! Two, two, two trends in one (inexpensive) package -- and mainly, I liked the colours. The particular olive is sort of a sagey olive -- with grey and a beautiful blue. The colours of the top look great on me IRL so I have no issues about that at all.

Hmmm. Thanks for all your thoughts and back to think on it some more myself!

  • cciele replied 10 years ago

Even though it's hard to tell on my monitor, I can see how the colors might look good on you! Nice take on camo.

I like how you've styled it with pants. Would like to see it in motion; it does have a stiff, boxy appearance in the stills.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

The boots are gorgeous Suz! Those are going to work brilliantly with your wardrobe.

As for the top, I love the colours on you and I suspect you are right in that the fabric will lose its stiffness. I don't mind the shape in you but that white lining...I don't know...

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

I like it. I think it looks chic. Not OOT camo.

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

I like the camo top and I think it would look great with a pencil or tube skirt, and your TR jeans.  I like the cut but I don't care for the white inside - how much does it show when you walk? That could be a deal breaker if it shows a lot.
    Those boots are super-duper fab!

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

I have a real poison eye for camo (I am sure you can understand) but I love the look of #1 and the skirt and new! boots combination!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Totally hear you on that, Shevia. I sort of had a poison eye myself. I'm leaning towards a return on this one but will hunt for the cropped shape in another pattern and one that does not go white on the inside.  :-)

I do like the shape of it.

    Thanks all!

  • Marley replied 10 years ago

Me likey - a lot!  I think the white "lining" is fun - pair it with some white booties and I think it would be really cool.  But - even without the white footwear - I love it.  The colors, the cut, the pattern - pretty much perfect in my book.  Going to check it out myself!

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

I think the top is fun and cute, and as you say, a way to experiment with a couple of trends without dropping a fortune on them. I vote keep!

    And those boots are fabulous!

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago

I like it with the pants!
With the skirt I have issues with tops that stand away from the body like A- line tent look as competed to square drapey. If you think that will wash out, then that could be better. Of course the look is intentional for some items and wearers , and that's okay.
    Boots are beautiful!

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Gorgeous new boots, they look like a perfect fit and a real nice walking friendly heel.  The top is ok, it's not a wow item.  I haven't figured out if it's because the print is a bit large here or because the colors are rather muddy.  Your DVF top is nicer, I vote pass.

  • Neel replied 10 years ago

I mistook you for Angie in the second pic!  You two look strikingly similar!

Too late to say I love the way you have styled the top!  I actually love the top!

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

Thumbs up. Killer both with the trousers and skirt. Fun new piece for you.

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Missed this yesterday!  I'm dazzled by the boots and booties.  Perfection!  Sounds like you've decided to pass on this top, but keep looking for a cropped sweater to wear in a similar way.  Sometimes we learn about what works from a return, don't we?

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

I like it. It's different and kick-a$$ and pretty sharp, which I think is very you. I wouldn't worry about the white lining.

  • Vickie KY replied 10 years ago

I like it  - both looks. But only "you" know if it is really you and something that you would actually wear. I have had items before that people told me looked great and they didn't understand why I didn't like them. If they don't feel you then no matter how good they look you won't feel right wearing.
