Last of my NAS

I got my final package today from the NAS. I have a couple of keeps, a comparison (will keep one item and return the other), and one item I'm not sure about.

The Keeps: undies (yay!), a pair of BP joggers for sleep/lounge in winter, and the Blondo Elvina snake print bootie. Love them!

The Comparison item: The Pendleton rain jacket in navy. I bought the green in Seattle, which is what they had on the floor. It's a changeup colour for me, quite flattering, but I suspect I may tire of it or find it harder to wear with my other things. So I ordered the navy to compare. I am currently in Kingston so I will have to take this one back to Vancouver (where the green coat is) and put them on side by side. Definitely keeping one; I just don't know which. Sorry you can't see the green to compare. It is not as teal as in the Find. More of an 80s forest green.

The Maybe: VB trousers. They are a lovely, lovely pant. I think this is the right size but at the moment, they are on the snug side of tailored for me. Waist is good as are the hips and the rise feels fine, but the pockets don't lie completely flat. I'm not sure what I think of that. It's more noticeable on one side than the other and of course they poof a bit when you sit, as well. Sitting is comfortable, though. I would have to get them shortened, too, I think, unless they are ok as an ankle pant. Would love your thoughts. I've shortened one side in the pics to see them more as crops.

Whatever I decide on these items, I've had a GREAT NAS. Thanks, Angie, for making it so fun and thanks the rest of you for joining in and offering your cheers and thoughts!

Your NAS topped everyone’s, regardless of what you bought, because you got to see Angie in her element. What a priceless experience!

Team navy here - how can you even think of buying the green jacket?

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Hahahaha, Janet, so funny. That's sort of what I am thinking, too...I know the navy will be more versatile for me and less demanding.

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

    Laughing @ Janet.

    Yay for fab undies, Suz.

    KILLER booties, you silver Fox.

VERY curious to find out which Pendleton colour you will keep. I suspect the blue :)

The VB pants look a touch snug. A little short in both rises so the pockets are sticking out. They might loosen up though. Not sure you want to take that chance since they were pricey even on sale.

Thanks for making MY NAS extra fun. xo

What a great sale you've had. Greens are tricky... I'd go navy for you (and me both). I like the trousers very much -- hemmed as you've shown or 1/2-inch longer.

  • replied 4 years ago

Those booties are gorgeous and particularly with your hair.
    Love.
They’re really standout with the stripes, too.

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Yes, I think that's right, Angie. And next size up would probably be too big. I'll take them back to Vancouver and do some outfit try ons. They do feel comfy. But as you say, they are expensive.

  • Style Fan replied 4 years ago

Those booties look fabulous with your hair.  To my unprofessional eye the VB pants look tight or something.  Gorgeous pants.  I suspect you will pick the navy.  It works so well for you.  I love the jeans you are wearing with the booties.

I am currently wearing wigs part of the time and buzzed hair (cut off my color) part of the time trying to grow mine out, it’s very similar to your color and I am excited for it to grow & to wear snakeskin with it. :) Yours is inspirational!
Of course, if it grows & looks on me, nothing like yours does on you ... it’ll at least be healthy for coloring!

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Suz, good idea. Take them back. Wear them at home. See if they loosen up, and if you love the outfits you combine with them.

Opaline, I like the sound of your healthy hair, buzz cut and wig style.

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Thanks, Opaline -- that's nice to say! I had a near-buzz when I decided to grow out the silver. I just went with it but it was pretty short for a few months! You'll find that silver works great with black and white patterns, with any pattern that includes white, with all blues and most reds and many other jewel tones.

That's what I'll do, Angie. I'll keep them for now and wait to decide.

Thanks, Style Fan. I think they are probably too snug, too, but I'll wait before making a decision.

Murph, Angie, Style Fan -- I have a feeling I will go for the navy, too -- it's just easier to work into my closet and won't cause me any angst. A top in the green would probably be a better bet.

Love your haul, the booties are gorgeous, and I agree with the suggestions on the coat. A coat in a not-so-sure-about-it color is a lot riskier than a top. I have regretted coats i bought in colors that weren't easy to mix with most of my wardrobe.

  • Preppy Pear replied 4 years ago

Well, in my book, you can’t go wrong with navy! No matter what, though, that jacket is sensational.

And your hair with the booties and stripes is spectacular. I can’t duplicate your hair, but I am going to try out pairing my striped tee with my snake print Blondos now.

What a great NAS you’ve had!

  • Joy replied 4 years ago

You have had a great NAS and advice on this shipment. I like what Angie said about the VB trousers. As for teal or navy, navy is safe and flattering. What does the teal do for your eyes and complexion? It would be more of a wildcard and you may welcome the color on dark cloudy days. I don’t think you can go wrong with either coat. Love those booties, but my SEsnakeskin booties still look great. They will be fab with your hair and outfits.

  • Sal replied 4 years ago

    Love the booties!!

Unsure what advice to give re the coat....  I like the idea of a green one but green can be tricky.....  I guess thinking about the pants and footwear is the main thing.

  • Laura replied 4 years ago

Great boots! I'm tempted to get them in the leopard print to go with our yellow Coach handbag. Sounds like you have a solid plan and whatever you decide, you got the most out of the whole NAS experience!

  • replied 4 years ago

Coat is great - but I can see one being frustrated by the ordinariness of that kind of inbetween green . It could skew too traditional or dated pretty quickly . If it were more of a statement green then , yes . But I vote navy . Love the boots but am very honestly underwhelmed by the pants . The fit looks a tad off , and somehow the whole look of them doesn’t make me appreciate the price . If you know what I mean . Hair is on point - :)

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 4 years ago

    Love the boots!
I agree with lisa p on the pants. They don't seem like a 10, and I would want them to be, if they are on the expensive end for you. You have some amazing pants, so I think you would find a pair again that is even better than these. As to length, I might want them slightly longer than the more cropped side, like maybe 3/4" longer.
Gosh, I so want to love the green jacket. Green is my favorite color. But it is an odd shade of green; again lisa p puts it well. I vote navy. The navy one still has that touch of green in the black-watch-like plaid hood lining, which is a fun touch.

  • Jaime replied 4 years ago

Love the snakeskin boots on you and am glad I already have a (cheap but adequate) pair in my closet or I'd be "obsessed". Will not judge jacket color until a full comparison. Pants may not be worth the investment. Jeans and striped tee outfit is fantastic btw. Your hair is fabulous!

  • Gigi replied 4 years ago

The booties look SO GOOD on you! Cute and a walkable heel.

I really like the color and design of the coat.

As for the pants...after looking at the pic of the model, I would probably pass. They seem like they would look their best if they draped more rather than were snug. I would probably pass and look for something else, since the price is probably pretty substantial for these. If you do end up keeping them, I like the shorter, cropped length.

  • Aquamarine replied 4 years ago

I’d go with the navy, BUT is there a chance you will tire of it quickly? I know I get mighty sick of dark colors after January. Years ago I had a dark green winter coat that I loved to pieces. It was just different enough in a sea of black that it lifted my spirits every time I wore it.

The pants look like they are pulling in various places. Did you try on a bigger size to compare? Apologies if you did and these were better. For the price, I would not settle.

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Thanks, all -- appreciate your thoughts. I believe I will be taking the pants back! You're right that I can do better for the price.

Aquamarine, that's a good point about the coat. This is a raincoat, not a true winter coat, but I doubt I'd tire of the navy anyway. I do like to have a bright coat in rotation, but I also like to have a neutral, and the green of the other is quite dark, too -- not as represented in the photo.

  • DonnaF replied 4 years ago

What footwear and what pants will you be wearing with the raincoat? Some blue jeans don't go well with some navy blues, and would the PGs feel too Christmas-y with the teal? I am inclined to think the navy will be more versatile, but sometimes what should work in theory doesn't once you put it through an actual test. . .

  • anchie replied 4 years ago

When choosing color for outerwear, I don’t usually consider how it goes with my outfit but rather think if I have shoes, bag and scarf that complement it.

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

All good thoughts -- thank you! I think navy is the most likely. It just works better in my life overall....

  • Angie replied 4 years ago

Green cannot compete with blue in your world :)

  • Karie replied 4 years ago

I love, love, love the boots! I haven’t seen the green coat, but the blue is gorgeous and looks great with your hair. The pants don’t look perfect, and at that price point, they need to be perfect.
Overall, I’d say you had a great NAS!

  • unfrumped replied 4 years ago

    Super boots!
Can’t judge the green, and I worry myself about always picking “ safe” colors, but forest green doesn’t send me, for you, like some other amazing color might, and navy is great for you.
I agree the pants don’t seem to “ say” anything really suz- ish, and you wear other pants and jeans so well, in great outfits.

  • Elizabeth P replied 4 years ago

Hmm, thought I'd replied to this.  Now I don't need to be so diplomatic, as others have said what I did ;-)
Not keen on the pants, they just don't fit you as well as they should/could.  Love the boots, and I am going to do a bad thing and order them in black from Canada just to see if they fit then order these ones from the US if they do.  My Aquatalias just get SO much wear because they are waterproof, I'd love another pair that is waterproof but not black and this snakeskin would be great with my wardrobe.
Raincoat, yup, the blue.  You will never tire of it.

  • smittie replied 4 years ago

Nice, Suz! I like those joggers. Nice blue that will look good with navy.

The snakeskin booties look great. Nice ankle fit. I said I saw them in my town, but what I actually saw was a different brand that were slightly more earth -toned.

Yah, I think the VBs need to roomier in the back thigh for a true “trousers” look.

  • Suz replied 4 years ago

Sigh, Smittie, that is always my issue -- thigh fit is never roomy on me. :) Except on the widest of wide wide legs.

Oh, well, that's why some jeans do work, so I should be happy I've still got muscle! ;)
