Mini-meetup!

As some of you know,  the beautiful Janet's been on Vancouver Island for a photography trip, and having met her once in Boston a decade ago, I couldn't give up the chance of meeting her again. But it almost didn't happen, because I've been sick with some dread virus since we came home from the UK. Today, her last day in the area, is the first day I felt confident I wouldn't be contagious. So we got together for a lovely breakfast and a fast catch-up!

Of course, we were both wearing our blues. :)  Please forgive my helmet hair (came on the bike) and shirt in disarray and wonky background. It wasn't the most selfie-friendly spot but it was a great place to sit and talk.

Janet, thanks for making the time and safe travels home. I can't wait to see your photos!

Real Life Fabber meetups are special! We used to do them fairly often in Toronto and we had a few mini-meetups in Kingston and near Kingston, too. I met some Fabbers in New York City (that was great!). Plus the big events in Boston (one of which I got to) and Seattle (none of which I made it to, but there's always next year, right???) and California (sadly, I didn't make those ones, either.) People have met up in various parts of Europe, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and I don't even know where else! The tradition really fell off during Covid, for obvious reasons. But maybe we. need to start it up again.

Yay! Love the photo of you together. Suz, Glad you are feeling better.

I have met four YLF people in meetups!!

Brooklyn in Sydney, Sisi in Milan, Astrid in NZ and Coco in the Gold Coast.  Crazily I have not met JenniNZ in NZ.....

    Envy. And don't y'all LF.

Many of the YLFers I've met at meetups or my one clothing swap are no longer on the forum but our Tanya, Bella, Shana,Debora, and of course our Angie remain stalwarts. (I'm certain I've left someone out, please chime in and remind me!)

  • Chris987 replied 3 months ago

  • ChristelJ replied 3 months ago

You both look fab! So happy you were able to meet up. YLF meet ups are the best! Waving at Angie, April, Janet and Laurie!

  • Janet replied 3 months ago

Meetups are the best! I’ve been lucky enough to join quite a few of them — in SoCal, Seattle, Boston, NY, and some mini meetups at home in DC and Baltimore. Too many lovely members to name here!

One of the most amazing things to come from the community Angie and Greg and Inge built here is the bond of friendship. I’m truly grateful. ❤️

  • Cee replied 3 months ago

I trust shenanigans were afoot  !

  • Angie replied 3 months ago

    *happy sigh*

    :)

I've met MANY of you, and across the globe!! Sooo grateful! On this thread of the people who have been mentioned - I'm waving at:

Inge, Suz, Janet, Tanya, April, Debra, Lynette, Jaime, Carla, Laurie and JAileen

AND I'M HAVING LUNCH WITH JANET TODAY!!!  xoxo

  • Laurie replied 3 months ago

This is so heartwarming, and you both are just lovely.

(Debora hello!!! Debora and I met 10 years ago, on the campus of the College of William & Mary, where our sons were both students.)

  • MsMary replied 3 months ago

Oh, this makes me so happy!! Waving at you from So Cal!!

I love YLF meetups!  I agree that one of the best things about the forum is the friendships that develop here.
    You both look lovely.

  • Mary replied 3 months ago

I know that cafe! Great place for a meet up!

A a stripeaholic I have to ask about your gorgeous shirt!

Seems so many are getting sick after travel. Glad you are on the mend.

And it looks like we are finally going to get some warm weather!

  • Suz replied 3 months ago

Mary, this is the shirt. And yes -- some warm weather on its way, at long last!

  • rachylou replied 3 months ago

  • LaPed replied 3 months ago

Go Team Blues!! What a fun meetup. Super curious to know what you both ordered — that cafe looks fantastic. :)

  • Zaeobi replied 3 months ago

How lovely to meet up in-person - team YLF blue hard at work here! Glad to hear you're on the mend, Suz.

I think I might be too far away to meet up with most Fabbers lol, but maybe once I'm back in the UK... unless Angie makes it back over to HK before then? :)

  • Suz replied 3 months ago

Zaeobi, you just never know where a meet-up might happen.

La Ped, we had pancakes with blueberries and whipped cream! And I ate the whole thing. Janet was more moderate. My mother used to call me the "stevedore" for my appetite. What can I say.

  • Janet replied 3 months ago

LOL! Suz had ridden her bike a half hour to meet me so she earned those pancakes I walked two blocks. :-D

It was such a nice meetup! I’m back at home in the steam bath that is the mid-Atlantic, but I have great memories from the PNW!
