Multi-Striped and K/R Laguna

I could not resist...when I returned from my hike I got dressed in my version of today's formula, #1. I'll try the others out eventually, too.

Stripes here are the top, the sweater, the socks (which you can't see), and the boots. All blue and white, except the boots which have black soles and sides.

What think you of the boots? These are the Top Pick Lagunas. I just received them. I have not purchased a new fashion boot (as distinct from a strictly gear boot) since 2019, which for me is a long time. I still have a nice bootie collection (see below) so it is not as if I lack options, but most are a shorter shaft and pointed toe. The black Blondos are pretty much toast, and the taupe suede are also looking a bit tired; I will probably retire both at the end of this year. But the snake print and silver are still in good condition.

White!! Will I wear it? I did once have a dressier cream bootie which I liked a lot and wore with dressy fall/winter/spring outfits, but honestly I did not have enough occasions for it and eventually passed it on. This is a different creature since it has the platform sole, it is a Chelsea style (easy on/ off) and it is waterproof. So it is much more casual and possibly more wearable than my earlier light coloured bootie.

Does it bookend my hair, do you think? It will definitely work with other white/ light tops and my white coat, so I can bookend my clothes. However, that will shorten the leg line, as here.

I had to add a plantar fasciitis heel thingie here to get a fit, but it seems comfortable and lightweight now that I have done so.

Huge yay from me!-) Both for the entire outfit, which is crisp, modern, fun, and very you, and for the new booties! I do indeed feel that they bookend your hair beautifully, and have a feeling that you'll wear them more often/they'll be more versatile because they are little more casual, Chelsea-style - which you like to wear - and waterproof (woohoo) so you wear them on wet days too.

Boy, this look suits you! And you just reached into your closet! Lively and smart-casual. Those are great boots, which I could imagine you might wear a lot.

Beautiful Suz. When I saw today's formula I thought of you, post for. You look wonderful, Queen of stripes.

This outfit is so perfectly Suz:   super-cute and full of energy!

  • RobinF replied 1 year ago

Love it! The stripes and the new boots!

  • Runcarla replied 1 year ago

Crisp,  clean, fresh, casual, and MODERN!  It would not be the same without those boots.  ♥️

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

    Everything Inge said!

Stunning bookending! Visually crisp, modern, and effective.

KILLER boots, stripes, and outfit. Very Suz :)

Keep the boots if they are comfortable. You will wear them more than you think. They are weatherproof, which is great for the PNW.

Which pants are those? SOOOO CUTE!

    Love!

    Great look. Very you. :-)

They look really great Suz ! I’m still on the fence with buying what would be my version of these ( cream with a self colour sole : a black heel and sole would be too restrictive in terms of what I could wear them with ) . These white and black ones are perfect for your wardrobe though !

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

Thanks, all. I'm still debating on these boots, though leaning toward keep. The ones in the sesame colour, in particular, get terrible reviews for scuffing immediately and some wearers complain that the soles crack after a few months, although again, that does seem to vary by colour. I have not seen complaints about the white ones. People adore the black ones and I have seen zero complaints about those. I will also say, re the sesame ones, that I saw a woman wearing them at the workshop I recently attended and hers looked pristine and uncracked and she told me she had been wearing them a lot (and she did wear them 2 out of the 4 days we were there.)

The black soles make them more wearable for me, I think, because I often wear navy or denim bottoms (so that ties the various parts of the outfit together) but more importantly, because light soles will get dirtier. I can manage light soles on sneakers in spring/ summer/ early fall -- and love them because white soles "bookend" my hair and lighten up the look, even if the upper is dark or has colour. But as soon as things get wet here, if I plan to walk in my suburb at all, a light sole becomes unworkable. I can do it downtown, but not in my neighbourhood, which lacks sidewalks and has hills and bumpy roads.

Angie, the pants are my (very worn out and pilled -- yes, pilled -- though a woven!) BR slim wide legs from several years ago. I am keeping until I find a suitable replacement. I think they should last me this season, with some babying.

Lisa, I go away tomorrow for a few days but when I get back, I'm going to try a bunch of outfits with these boots to see how I feel about them....I just don't know!

  • slim cat replied 1 year ago

Perfect - love the whole look!

  • Dee replied 1 year ago

Ahoy there, such a cute nautical look, I always love a good striped ensemble.
Those boots are adorable and do seem a good fit for your type of weather conditions, plus you do have a lot that would go with them, but it seems the concern is mostly whether they will hold up properly and that’s not easy to tell. My husband had a pair of Ecco dress shoes that he hardly ever wore and both soles recently ended up cracking after he was driving with them. You just can’t be sure these days.

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

Wow. Ecco!!! That is worth a complaint -- they might replace for him, Dee.

  • Barbara Diane replied 1 year ago

Love this from head to toe.

  • JAileen replied 1 year ago

I love this outfit on you. The boots look perfect.  As for them bookending, your hair is light and they are light.  And waterproof!

  • Sal replied 1 year ago

Love this Suz! Very gamine. You suit white in this sporty crisp punchy look.

  • rachylou replied 1 year ago

I love it! The boots! The mixed stripes! Super energetic.

  • kkards replied 1 year ago

    Speechless

  • kkards replied 1 year ago

Re the white boots “will i wear them”…so i have these white sorrels, which give a similar casual vibe, and honestly i love them, and can’t believe how often i reach for them and how versatile they are. The white goes with everything and lightens up any outfit and brightens up winter…what i know of your style, as long as the boots are actually comfortable and walkable, YES you will wear them.

  • Jules replied 1 year ago

Adore this entire outfit and I would keep the boots based on this alone - you have more restraint than me!

  • UmmLila (Lisa) replied 1 year ago

I hope you keep the boots. I think they will make the difference in leveling up a lot of looks. And the striped outfit is very on brand, in the best of ways.

  • Jaime replied 1 year ago

Love the boots! Keep! The entire outfit is very fab and very you. A very good example of adapting current looks to your personal style!

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

Thank you! The tags are off and I'm pretty sure they are winners. And practical enough to work for me.

  • Sally replied 1 year ago

    Wow very crisp and chic

  • Bijou replied 1 year ago

I love this and The Cat's response, that this looks 'very you' was exactly my thoughts.

I like the new bootie for you, the chunkier shape to is a nice change from your other streamlined boots. I find my white boots with a black sole very versatile, I wear them with the items in finds (and so much more).

As far as the question of do they bookend your hair - it is a resounding yes!

  • Jessikams replied 1 year ago

I have a similar boot from Ganni, a Nordstrom rack find from the past spring. But I have not worn them! You inspire me to try soon.

  • Cee replied 1 year ago

Suz , that is more killer than a ninja dropbear with a blow dryer in the bathtub !

  • lyn67 replied 1 year ago

Think they are killer, please keep-they will work great with your outfits adding a bit of bookending  to your silver white hair  and  a great contrasted highlight to your darker outfits!
Then, I am also  with Lisap wanting me a cream one with  a tan (light)  sole, which I hope to work better with my blonde hair and my tans in my own wardrobe. I do have a white&bl one (very similar to the one of Suz's) but it felt a bit too bright for me and my outfits last winter.

  • MaryA replied 1 year ago

Please keep - the bookending is perfect and who can say no to waterproof? Your post sent me down the rabbit hole of Laguna boots and I found the "tawny brown" ones on a major markdown at Nordstrom this morning.
While they won't bookend my hair, I've been looking for a boot in this color and I really need waterproof for the winter

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 1 year ago

Fantastic outfit, Suz! The black gore mitigates any leg-shortening effect, too, to my eye.

  • replied 1 year ago

Yaas! I like your version more than the inspo ones!

  • Katerina replied 1 year ago

Suz, the boots look beautiful on you, perfect with your hair and your style.
    The outfit is totally TDF!
