Mustard Capsule in Progress ETA addition and possible addition...

The mustard Cons came! At first I wasn't sure they'd fit -- it was a bit weird getting my foot into the shoe. That's down to my higher arch/ instep, I guess. But once on, they are great. I will have to test them to see if they need an insole.

And look! They actually match the Coach bag!

They don't quite "close the gap" and it's chilly out, so I am mixing prints like a maniac. Stripes! Butterflies! Leopard Print! Kitty Print in the library socks! :)

Now to find a few more mustard print items or maybe my mustard pants. I ordered an ochre brown pair that might or might not work. We'll see.

ETA: After my lunch date today I stopped into a local shop I like and found these awesome mustard fingerless gloves. Won't they be great with my blues and greys?

I also tried on this adorable oversized sweater. I think this one is a full size too big, alas. They didn't have my size in store, but they do have one at another of their locations. Should I spring for it? I retired a bit of knitwear this year.

Waving at my shoe twin! Woohoo!

You look KILLER - again :) - just perfect with the bag. Mustard is gorgeous with dark blue! The Dutch way....

    The socks are SUBLIME.

I’m wearing a column of mustard today too...

  • ChristelJ replied 5 years ago

This is my kind of mustard- none near the face, but providing gorgeous pops of color. This is great, maybe my favorite outfit I've seen on you. You are smashing.

  • kellygirl replied 5 years ago

    Superb! Love this, Suz!

  • Kari replied 5 years ago

Mustard capsule: FUN! Love that bag, and the scarf looks incredibly rich next to it.

  • mtnsofthemoon replied 5 years ago

Super cute and fun.  Love the shoe/bag match!  Nice with the navy and grey duster cardigan!  You look warm and cozy to me!

  • Elizabeth P replied 5 years ago

    LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a great way to "do" mustard if you don't "do" mustard.  HMMMMM.....

  • JAileen replied 5 years ago

I love this outfit!! I wonder if the shoes would match my vintage Coach bag?

  • Susie replied 5 years ago

We’re twins again, I got these too! Our weather just cooled off so I haven’t worn mine yet but hoping to break them out tomorrow. I love them with the gray and how great that they match your bag. I don’t have a mustard capsule but I think they will work with this cardigan. A print is a smart idea.

I received mine the other day too, but they were miles too big, and I'm a little concerned about the practicality in my climate. I envision having to treat them preciously, which I'm not sure I have the bandwidth for . I've reordered (from a different site this time) a smaller size, and will decide then.

All that aside, I LOVE them onyou ! They are so cute in your little size :)  Maybe I was put off by how boat-ish  they felt on my regular size 8 foot?  And great match with your bag too.  Love Susie's Anthro sweater too - that is  VERY tempting.   If I keep mine, I plan on bridging that gap (when wearing the crops)  with fishnets as patterned  socks are not my thing. What's your take on keeping them clean ?

  • rachylou replied 5 years ago

    Snap! :)

  • Laurie replied 5 years ago

It's ridiculous how cute you are! Outstanding outfit!

The jeans are not for me, sadly. I got the next smaller size but still too big and very stretchy to boot.  I might be able to try to size down one more, but they were long in the crotch actually. I think I gave it a good try, and I'll just have to enjoy watching you style the living heck out of them.

  • Helena replied 5 years ago

Exactly what Elizabeth said. How much do I love your socks?!?

  • Cardiff girl replied 5 years ago

They look cute on you and go perfectly with your bag.

  • smittie replied 5 years ago

    Gorgeous!
I saw the bag in person and it is squeal-worthy.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

    Thanks, all.

These are SO much fun to wear. Wore them for my 12,000 steps so far today and no pain or blisters. Might eventually need a small lift/ insole for my plantar fasciitis. I got a TON of compliments from the youngsters today on them and one from a sweet gay guy who loved the "matchy-matchy." :)

Laurie, that is too bad about the jeans. They definitely fit large -- a full size, maybe a size and a half. Heck, maybe even two sizes, depending on what type of jeans you've been used to wearing. I have a looong rise, so that part is excellent for me.

Lisa, that's interesting about the sizing! I am typically a EU 37 or a 6.5 or 7 in US sizes. I almost always buy a size 7 in boots and booties for thicker socks or an insole, and that is what I bought here. Plenty of length, plenty of width, but definitely not too big.

They are NOT precious! They are leather lined in GORETEX. Or Goretex treated leather, I am not sure which. But in any event -- they are waterproof and quite warm. I wore thin socks today but my feet got hot after a while. I think with proper wool socks and possibly a fleece insole, they will work here in the cold. The only issue will be the gap between trouser/ jean and shoe. For that, I'll need fleecy socks. But...it is nowhere near as cold here as it gets in Winnipeg, so YMMV.

I don't think they will get too dirty. I'll use a dryeraser and baby wipes and all the usual stuff to clean them -- just what I use on my white sneakers.

Susie, that is such a pretty sweater! You will look adorable in these shoes. Hope you enjoy them.

    Elizabeth, ha!

JAileen, you should try them! They might indeed work!

It is interesting how many of us like mustard but not near the face. This mustard capsule is really fun for me because a real change!

Smittie, I know....I saw it at NAS and it was love at first sight. Angie enthusiastically approved. :)

  • Angie replied 5 years ago

YES. Get the sweater in a smaller size. It's darling!

  • Angie replied 5 years ago

You are in good mustard company. I'm wearing this today:

  • replied 5 years ago

Cute sweater - is it navy, cream and mustard? My monitor is doing horrible things to colour on this site lately.   Re the Converse- I am more concerned about keeping the white soles clean, which is why I don't wear white soled sneakers in the winter here. Just too much maintenance.  But they are pretty cute ;)  I ordered an 8.5, and my usual size is an 8-moving-into-8.5 territory this fall.  They were huge all over -not just in length. Anyways - I'm awaiting delivery of the smaller size - if Canada Post ever   delivers in Manitoba again after this storm .

  • Windchime replied 5 years ago

What a fun mustard capsule you’re assembling. Your shoes are super cute, and your bag is gorgeous!

  • Susie replied 5 years ago

That sweater is so cute! Is it navy? I love navy with mustard. I also have these shoes and wore them last weekend with wide leg jeans and a navy sweater.

Two pairs of mustard shoes and only 1 top?! Maybe I need to find at least a scarf!

  • Bijou replied 5 years ago

Suz you look beautiful. I love the new fingerless gloves and sweater, it is fun seeing how you are pulling together your mustard capsule. Do you think that Angie’s mustard Boden shirt would work for you, as that would look beautiful under your navy pea coat.

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Bijou, thank you! I think the mustard shirt would be really tough for me. Mustard near my face is ... uh. One of my worst colours. That's why the sweater is genius.

Susie, Lisa -- It's off-white/ winter white (a great tone for me), navy, and mustard stripe but the mustard is not close to my face.

Lisa, that's so interesting. Maybe your feet are lower volume than mine. I would call my feet "medium" volume because they are not thick all over, but I have a higher arch and a higher, somewhat narrow instep. My heel is super narrow (and yes, these do flip up and down, as all boots and shoes do, for me...but blister bandaids, socks, and laces help.) My forefoot is normal width bordering on wide. (I.e. wide shoes are way too wide, especially in the heel and instep, but normal shoes sometimes pinch across the toebox.) My toes are short.

ETA -- I expect to clean the bottoms with the wipes and vinegar and the dry-erase brush...I'll see how it goes. I probably won't wear them in snow and slush but do expect to wear them on city streets in rain. Today was clear, so I didn't have to test that aspect.

Angie, that looks like a GORGEOUS outfit. I love how you mixed red and mustard in the accessories. That is going to be one of my goals going forward.

I think I will call about the sweater -- it was a nice, lofty knit and a lot of fun. It had a high-low hem.

  • Katerina replied 5 years ago

I LOVE how your mustard capsule turned out. Matching gorgeousness and the gloves are so nice, love the texture. You look lovely in the outfit.
The sweater looks really great on you, absolutely worth looking for a smaller size.

  • greycat6 replied 5 years ago

I love your approach to organizing this capsule! Are you looking to add a scarf? I recently added this one to bring some earth tones into my cool toned wardrobe. Scarf is primarily blue and gray but has a little cognac/mustard in it.

Really enjoy reading your thoughtful and always well-written posts!

  • Jane replied 5 years ago

I love the way your capsule mustard has come together. They are super pieces, and the little mittens are so cute! Great striped jumper too. I hope that they have your size.

  • Style Fan replied 5 years ago

Great mustard capsule.  The converse look super cute on you.  I hope you can find the striped sweater.  It is the perfect colours.

  • SarahD8 replied 5 years ago

Late to this, but I love how this capsule is coming together, Suz! I admire your skill in so quickly carrying out your intention to add this shade to your wardrobe -- I am taking notes.

LOVE the fingerless gloves! And love how seamlessly the mustard blends (or maybe: how well it contrasts) with your blues.

Maybe some more socks with mustard wouldn't go amiss -- to deliberately close the gap with hosiery that matches your footwear?

  • Jaime replied 5 years ago

Wow, pops of mustard look outstanding on you. Thinking of Lisa P.'s color thread. Who told us we shouldn't mix warm and cool?

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

Right! Warm and cool are brilliant together!

Sarah, what a great idea. Mustard socks for the win! Off to search some out.

  • Column replied 5 years ago

Master class on how to mix color that is not one’s own. YES, get the oversized sweater!

  • lyn67 replied 5 years ago

Love the tonal blue outfit with yellow and white accents, wow, such a great idea to top it with light blue coat/BFcardi, so fresh-and love pattern mixing with scarves myself, too-your outfits always chic,  polished, and very inspiring!  And, yes, it would worth trying  the size down, that is a great sweater!

  • Karen replied 5 years ago

Wow! these mustard converse are really growing on me! Are they waterproof? leather? good for cold and wet weather or possibly snow?

  • unfrumped replied 5 years ago

Love the mustard shoes and bag with a your blues.
I think the proportions of the sweater for you is throwing me off a bit due to combination of the size and the wide stripes, so maybe when you have the right size I’ll get the picture!

  • Helena replied 5 years ago

Yes vote on the sweater from me Suz; I love it on you!

  • Suz replied 5 years ago

    Thank you all!

Karen, yes -- waterproof! Called "winter sneakers." Gortex lining. Good for rain, and possibly snow. Definitely good for cold weather. If it is not cold enough they feel too warm!

  • JAileen replied 5 years ago

Yes to a smaller sized sweater!

  • replied 5 years ago

Aww kitty socks! I have a blanket with a similar pattern :)
    I like the mustard/blue combo!

  • Chris987 replied 5 years ago

This is going to be a fabulous capsule for you! Actually, it already is! That sweater is really nice, and as others have said, a great way to wear a color that is not great next to your face. Love the longer cardigan, that light blue/grey color is one of my favs and it looks great on you.

    Love Susie's shoes too!

  • Sara L. replied 5 years ago

Oh wow, I love how the sneakers and bag match.  It makes my matchy-matchy heart happy.  The fingerless gloves are so fun.
