New BF and sandals

Finally, I can post the rest of my Boston purchases! I had so much fun shopping. (Angie, I'll bet you never thought you'd hear me say that.) :)

Isabel was kind enough to let me make a Nordstrom's order and have it sent to her place. I kept two of the items I ordered (these) and sent a couple back.

First up, the Vince Camuto Eliana cage sandals. I ordered the washed grey; what I got was more like a light taupe, and to my surprise, they arrived with a snakeskin strap on the back! (This was not pictured on the Nordstrom's web site).  I like it! They are surprisingly comfortable for a sandal this high -- the heel is one of those that feels a lot lower than it is and the shoe is exceptionally well balanced. Read the rave reviews!

Wearing with the Rag and Bone "Dre" slim fit boyfriends. I sized up for extra slouch. These are right out of the laundry; they slouch more after a few hours. Comfiest jeans ever!

Showing them rolled and full length. I think the cuffs are a bit bulky rolled, but I am not sure I want to hem them because then I couldn't wear them full-length with cuff. But I'm open to persuasion here. Should I hack a few inches off of them?

Lookin' good! This settles it- I *need* a white and blue striped top. I think I'm in favor of not hemming the jeans, because I really like that you can wear them rolled and unrolled. And I think they look great worn both ways.

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

That's a toughie. The jeans are terrific and I love them BF length and full length. I see what you mean about the thicker roll but I think it still looks darn good. LOVE the olive sandals. I still have those in my cart (in black.)  I just can't decide whether they could even pass as all day sandals for me or not. Awesome haul, Suz!

  • kkards replied 10 years ago

I like the roll of these,it makes them look boyfriendy.
Jewell, I also "need" a white and blue striped tee. Now to find the right one.

  • merwoman replied 10 years ago

Great haul! Another vote for not hemming - it's good for the non-labour environment and gives you more options....

  • Greyscale replied 10 years ago

I think the roll looks fine, not too bulky. I roll mine in a way that makes it less bulky: if you want a 1" roll, fold up 2" then fold it up on itself again. It lies flatter than rolling it up three times.

I had the same debate about my long, slouchy jeans and ended up hemming them. I'm ok with the outcome but I miss being able to wear them full-length with a cuff.

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Thanks, Greyscale (and great to see you again! Missed you!)

That's a really good suggestion for how to roll. And I hear you on this -- I hemmed my TR Camerons. I can still wear them full length, but only without a roll. So I guess that's a good reason to leave these ones as is -- that way I would have one of both.

  • Style Fan replied 10 years ago

Love the jeans and sandals.  I also vote for not hemming.  They look so good full length.  Great haul.

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago

    (Noted Greyscale.)
Great sandals Suz- the unexpected strap is a bonus!
Versatile length BFs- this is what I need too- lovely outfit.

  • NDMom replied 10 years ago

What great jeans and sandals!  They look great at both lengths....love double duty wardrobe items!  :)

  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago

Super fit! I say experiment with flattening roll techniques-- I'm trying that. But, it's about enough to make me want to get a pair at a good price and hem. Not only is the roll bulky, I can't really roll to high enough on calf.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago

Fantastic on both counts Suz! I would leave the length of the jeans as is myself. And those sandals are the perfect neutral.

  • kerry replied 10 years ago

Love the new BFs and the sandals! I have been eyeballing them since you guys have been talking about them here. Love that there is a snakeskin surprise at the back! I just couldn't decide if I'd get enough use of a caged heel in my uber-casual life. So, today I went on a quest to find a flat, nude-for-me caged sandal and couldn't find one! My last stop was cheapy (read synthetic) Call It Spring and they had exactly what I was looking for!

But now that I have these junky ones I'm still coveting the Elianas.

I had the same issues with the roll too. I eventually decided I couldn't ask my jeans to be two things so I duplicated! Now I have one for full length and one for the cropped roll. I don't like a bulky roll because I'm already bulky. You, beautiful Suz, do NOT have that issue so I think you can ask your jeans to do double duty :)

  • carter replied 10 years ago

You have so many fun new things! I love the jeans. They don't look too bulky when rolled in the pictures, and I love that you have the option to wear them full length. I also think the sandals are perfect for you. I can pretty much see them with everything I know of your closet. Great score!

  • karymk replied 10 years ago

Suz that is so weird that you ordered the grey heels and got this taupe color.I have seen Viva's grey ones and wonder how Nordstrom could have made this mistake.  But I guess it was a good mistake because you like them.  I do too.  A lot.

Hope you have fun in Banff, have always wanted to see it.

  • carter replied 10 years ago

Rumor has it that you found a suit in Boston as well. Did I miss the pics, or have you not posted them yet?

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Karen, it's really odd, isn't it. It said washed grey on the box, too. But it's clearly quite different. It is okay, because I do like it. But here are photos of the two side by side.

I am glad the consensus seems to be to leave the jeans as is. Makes my life easier.  :)

Kerry, your new sandals look super cute! And so do your BFs! But I think you are onto something with getting more than one pair. Hmmm.....

  • kellygirl replied 10 years ago

Gosh, those are quite different! Still fab though! Glad it all worked out :)

  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago

Terrific jeans -- slouchy, but with structure.  I think I'd keep the versatility and roll as Greyscale suggested (I do this with my straight legs now).

The "Eliana's" look like an entirely different shoe!  They're a beautiful shoe, richer in detail than the original.  My DSW knockoffs look identical to your second pic.  Love them on you!

  • Lisa replied 10 years ago

Fun new pieces.  I don't mind the extra material for the cuff.

  • Sveta replied 10 years ago

The sandals are different in style, not just in color or snake print strap. Looks like you got different ones from what you ordered but they are better (at least I think they are better :-) )
You already know my opinion on both items (in person) so I am not going to repeat here. Are you OK with jeans bagginess now?

  • Jaime replied 10 years ago

The jeans look perfect on you. I like them rolled (not too bulky) and unrolled and cuffed and I think they will quickly become workhouses. Lucky switch about the sandals - now I have to go look to see if there is a suit post I have missed!

  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Suit post isn't up yet. I took some pics but they were blurry for some reason so I have to re-take tomorrow.

I like both the sandals. But I agree, Sveta -- they seem like a different style. Same last and same heel, but the cutouts are quite different.

  • Parsley replied 10 years ago

I love the BF jeans! They're a nice, slightly slimmer version, and they look terrific on you!
That is so weird about the sandals! Those are not the Eliana sandals shown online at all. But the good news is, they're great looking, so it's still a win!

  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

I am a great advocate of scissor therapy but at the same time I don't recommend overly hasty chopping. I don't think they need the chop anyway because the cuff roll is not chunky.
(Checking back through this thread I see you've decided against hemming. Goodoh)

  • sarah replied 10 years ago

Super cute sandals! And I like what kerry said about the jeans. They look great, by the way!

  • Debbie replied 10 years ago

Love the sandals and another vote to not hem the jeans.
You picked up some great stuff in Boston.

  • Gigi replied 10 years ago

Suz, the outfit looks great! I don't think that the rolls look too bulky. And it's fun to be able to change things up when you want to.

Weird about the sandals! It's almost like Nordstrom knew what you really wanted and sent that instead. :^)

  • AJ replied 10 years ago

Those new sandals look awesome on you! Would you recommend for a low volume foot?

Jeans look good too. Great buys!

  • Marmee replied 10 years ago

Great sandals, and the Dres look fab on you. I love my Dres too - so comfy, yet flattering. I thought I had mine hemmed for versatility, but they're still a bit too long for a svelte, non-bulky roll. I've been working on the roll that greyscale mentioned, but I still can't get it quite right. Sigh.

  • Scarlet replied 10 years ago

I'd leave the jeans as is. They look amazing! Hurray for stylish comfy shoes.

  • rachylou replied 10 years ago

The sandals are brilliant! And I like the way you do bfs... even tho I don't like bfs in general. So I feel that's saying something ;)

  • leopardluxe replied 10 years ago

Love this outfit. Those shoes with the BFs are adorable. I wouldn't shorten the BFs. I don't think the cuff is too bulky and I'm really loving the full length styling option on them as well.

  • krishnidoux replied 10 years ago

You look superb in those jeans. Us petites are always struggling with bulkier rolls, I find, and so I think you ought to have them hemmed to where you wish them to stop. Plus with such cute footwear, you want to show your feet!

  • Karie replied 10 years ago

Leave the jeans as is, Boston roomie! Just fold the cuff as someone mentioned earlier (fold up, fold over inside). That way you can wear them full length or rolled. I remember seeing these items in Boston and they are even more gorgeous in person (as are you!).

  • BethL replied 10 years ago

Suz, I'm going to join the chorus of leave the BFs as is. You look so great in them at both lengths. The roll doesn't look too bulky to my eye, and now you have an idea to flatten the roll even though you don't really need it. I love the sandals, too. I just ordered a pair of black Munro ones that will fill a wardrobe hole. Now I'm wondering if I need another pair, too -- of nude-for-me ones! I really like the BFs with the striped sailor tee. Just perfect!

  • Angie replied 10 years ago

More applause from me on super gorgeous and chic you in this sensationally killer simple look. Saw the jeans in person and they are dreamy on you, Suz. Love either length. xo

  • Joyce B replied 10 years ago

Great look, Suz! I think you will get more use out of your pants if you don't cut them. You can cuff them for Summer and wear them longer for Winter.
Those cage sandals are beautiful and they book-end your hair color very nicely. I want to get those sandals in the orange but maybe I should just get something that book-ends my hair color so that I can wear them more frequently.

  • Golden replied 10 years ago

Outfit is so cute and the jeans are great as is! Those sandals are adorable I especially love the snakeskin accent on the strap!

  • Jjsloane replied 10 years ago

LOVED these jeans in person on you - so lucky to have seen their maiden voyage. Keep just as is they are perfection. And I loved the snakesking strap detail on the sandals. I have had no luck with VC footwear as I think I'm between sizes but I will admire these on you.

  • Catnip replied 10 years ago

What great BFs!  I'm glad you have decided to leave them as is.  After all, you can always shorten them later if you change your mind.  The shoes are also beautiful.

I'm going to try that technique for getting a flatter roll because I have the same issue.

  • replied 10 years ago

Fantastic jeans and sandals. I'm glad you're leaving the hems as I love both stylings. You look great!

  • Echo replied 10 years ago

The jeans look great on you exactly as they are. And the sandals read as grey on my screen, although they are quite different in the pictures you posted. I still love them, though, and they look great with the jeans. I imagine they would look great with almost any summer attire, from jeans to dresses. Fabulous picks!

  • Astrid replied 10 years ago

Love both the jeans and the sandals on their own and paired together! Great picks.

  • pil replied 10 years ago

The jeans are fabulous on you in person! The bulk of the roll looks a-ok to me. Love those sandals - I heard about them but didn't have a chance to see them.

  • CocoLion replied 10 years ago

They look really good on you! I think they are fine that length or with 1.5" taken off, no more than that. I think if you just take off 1.5" you will still be able to have a cuff at the bottom (assuming the crotch is fairly dropped on these) but with the ability to have a smoother roll. The shoes are really cute too, and interesting to learn they are comfortable.

  • abc replied 10 years ago

I love the jeans, the fit is so great.  I'm on the hunt for some BFs and I will keep this image in my head while shopping.

As for the shoes..oh, the shoes...ever since I saw them on here I've been lusting after them.  But I'm trying to imagine how I'd style them and how they would work in my day to day life.  They are AMAZING on you, and I love the simple pairing with the stripe top and jeans here.  I'm learning less is more sometimes.

Now, I'm obsessed with the two different versions of the shoes.  I actually like the ones you got better than the originals!  I'm wondering if I order them what I'll get?!!  I wish there was a way to know what the difference is but I guess if the style name is the same, it's just some random manufacturing jinx or something?!

Anyway - love both.  Congrats on finding some jewels for the summer.
