Nordstom.ca is here

Hi, all --

I'm admiring all the work-from-home wardrobes and work-arounds! Confession: my own style has devolved very much into a lower level than usual. I'm in workout gear a lot of the day. Partly because I crave comfort, partly because I don't have very many clothes in the new house. (The family is in Victoria but most of our clothing remains in Vancouver until whenever we can get it.) And I'm not posting outfits because I don't have a full length mirror yet, and I guess it will be some time before I get one!

But —Canadians—it looks as if Nordstrom.ca is open for business. The selection is of course considerably smaller than the American version, but we do have some options, along with free delivery and returns. I doubt if I will be placing orders for the next little while, but it's fun to browse and think about something other than the pandemic from time to time.

Hang in there, everybody!

Thanks for the update.  No harm in pre-shopping shopping, is there?

Thanks for letting me know, Suz.  My style is an assortment of whatever.  I am still in Montreal and we are constantly debating when to leave.  Long story.  I have a small wardrobe with me and I am having wardrobe fatigue.
I am not buying much of anything for a while.  I will look at the Nordstrom.ca site for fun.

    Thanks for the info!

And Suz, you look radiant and lovely in EVERYTHING. Carry on :)

Oh!  Good news!  Will have to check it out.  Thanks, Suz.  I was hoping we'd get the same selection but should have known better.

My style is fairly basic at the moment.  Jeans plus a sweater or tee.  Makeup is pared down as well.....just concealer where needed, lip and cheek colour, royal blue mascara (new addition and loving it) and some brow gel (Hourglass Arch Brow Volumizing  Fiber Gel....also new addition)

Thanks Suz- I’ll take a look ! I’m usually in workout clothes or something similar too . I’d rather not change 5 times a day like I used to ( haha) and being ready to do some yoga, lift some weights , go for a walk and then return to reading and baking is nicely accomplished when in tights and a tank :) Hope those spring blossoms are beautiful in your new area !

So lovely to hear from you. I hope you are enjoying your amazing garden. I bet you look fab in your gear too.

Lovely to hear from you. Stay healthy and safe.

Big yes to not having to change clothes all the time!
And yay to Nordstrom CA finally :)

Good to hear from you, Suz. Victoria must seem like a small town compared to Vancouver. The climate, almost tropical, was unexpected and great for a garden.

Thanks Suz, will definitely check it out.  Although motivation/temptation is truly low.  Which is a good thing!

Take care, hope all is well.  With all of you!

Thanks Suz! I love the idea of participating more in the forum because of this. (Particularly Angie’s essential picks.)

There are a lot more options to Canadians now. I just bought a pair of Ecco shoes from Ecco Canada and they offered free returns.

I’m really satisfied with all my options.

If I take this to the next level, I’ll need to decide how much I want to support local businesses vs. Online. But that’s another story.

I was just browsing the .com site as there is a whole lot more available there than on the .ca site.  Apparently ordering from the US is off the table for us now.  Canada has been removed from the Borderfree options.  That's disappointing.  Banana Republic's .com site allows Canadian orders via Borderfree if so desired.  Don't know why Nordstrom would do this.

I noticed this too . Some of the brands I’m interested in aren’t included on the .ca site . I have a bunch of stuff in a shopping cart , but mostly out of sheer boredom than any real need .

Congratulations! Free delivery and returns is hard to beat!

Lisa.....I sent them a message through their contact form.  They thanked me for "amazing feedback" and said they'd pass it on to the appropriate person.  If enough of us provide feedback perhaps we can get it back.  I don't order from the .com site often but if there's something I really wanted that isn't available here I certainly would. No reason we shouldn't have the option.

Ya, I was just browsing jackets and saw one I liked on sale.  Checked the .ca page and nope. :/

I sent feedback to the .ca site too.   For lingerie, hosiery & shapewear they everything from bras, to socks, to pj's lumped together with no sub-categories.  So, if you're just looking for one item type you have to go through every damned page.

It’s probably covid/lockdown related, I would guess? The US / Canada border restrictions were extended recently and although cargo is being allowed through I’m sure the essential stuff is being prioritized. And I have no idea what’s happening to international mail packages.

"Amazing feedback" - lol.  You wonder who answers these emails - 25 year olds?  I noticed the lingerie mishmash too as I am actively trying to buy a couple of new bras.  Oh - the beauty pages are like this too - I am also trying to buy a night cream of sorts and had to weed through all kinds of other stuff .  Ugh. Probably a sign to me to stop browsing and wasting time on the internet ;)

    LOL, Lisa.  Indeed.

Yes, there is room for improvement on the website.  Fingers crossed that it improves with time.  I HAVE noticed more items, at least in the lingerie section, since it launched.  Early days.

Laura......I don't think it's covid related.  They're still shipping all over the world.  The change coincides with the addition of the .ca store.
