Not oversized

So, I loved the oversize blazer trend back in the 80s but as I mentioned in the comments, it did not love me back. I'd need to take more care with the details were I to try it again -- but I'd be willing, assuming opportunities for leaving the house! I will keep my eyes peeled in the fall.

Still, overall, I prefer my regular and cropped or shrunken  blazers. In the blog comments, I noticed a lot of members saying they don't wear blazers as much any more. I understand that -- I don't wear them at home, so during the height of the pandemic they languished in my closet. And of course I wear them less in hot weather than in cool weather.

And yet...blazers are part of my fashion DNA and I crave them! Even in summer. And where I live, nights cool down enough as a rule that toppers are required for at least part of the day, even in high summer.

My consignment find Paul Smith cropped blazer was a huge hit for me a couple of seasons ago and I still wear and love it.

But I wanted to report on a new purchase -- a regular sized Sandwich linen / stretch linen blazer that turned out to be the star of my recent trip to Ontario.

Photos are not great, and for that I apologize -- the light!  But it's linen with stretch linen panels on the sleeves and in back so it is as comfortable as a sweater, not quite as wrinkly as linen can sometimes get, and a really great summer topper. They say it is "light olive" but I would call the colour more a light sagey green -- it is a cool toned olive, in any case. It works well with denim, white, silver, dark pinks, burgundies, navy, even grey.

I tend to wear my denim jackets much more often in summer than I wear my blazers but I'm still glad to have this fun new option. Thinking back, one of my oversized blazers in the 80s was in linen. Maybe this is my non-trendy response to the trend and my memories.

I had a white linen blazer in the 80’s that was oversized. I wish I still had it. Your jackets look fab and you will wear them in your climate.

Great pieces - look fab on you! I would love to find perfect linen jacket with some magic panels and stretch :) .
I feel similar about jackets but our hot summer makes it impossible to even think about it now.

    Such a smashing and signature SUZ-LOOK :)

KILLER with the scarf!....which I don't recognize. Is it new too?

Yup. You need Summer toppers in the PNW. Denim jackets are my go-to! Blazers are a lovely option. I wear those too. In fact, I have a denim blazer....

LOVE the new blazer! Excellent with your silver pixie. Glad it's a workhorse already! Sandwich works well for you.

Scarf is older, Angie! It's a transitional weather scarf -- summer, but a bit too warm for Ontario summers, so I wear it more now than I wore it when I bought it.

Sandwich has such great , different pieces like this- it’s a really good line isn’t it ? Did you get the matching joggers too ?

Wonderful items! Pretty scarf! You look great :)

Fabness! The reason I haven’t always worn blazers more is temps … either too cold or too hot. This year tho, there’s been more opportunities. Eek because it may be a reflection of climate change…

    Rachylou -- too true, sadly.

LPJ, I didn't get the joggers, no -- I might still but worry more about the sizing for pants than tops so hesitate to order online. The blazer was only $57 or something like that -- a really good price. Must be from a few seasons ago, but I care not!

slim cat, I hear you. When it's humid, it's sleeveless all the way, for me!

Joy, you would look amazing in an oversized white linen blazer!

WFH made my jackets largely superfluous, except for when I am traveling or going out during a cool day or evening. I have not been wearing any of my jackets out, and think at this rate I may literally have a lifetime supply of them!

Lovely new blazer,it’s nice to have an alternative to the denim jacket in the summer but quite hard to find so well done you!

This style suits you so well Suz! Love the new addition and what a score on that Paul Smith blazer!

Beautiful! Looks great with your pretty hair color. I have some linen blazers in my closet that I haven’t worn since pre-pandemic- all fitted, but still- I need to get them out and start wearing them again.

This is so so so good!

Looks great! Hard to assess the color but the silhouette is classic and fabulous Suz!

Gorgeous! Picking the right blazers for you is wise. We don't need to jump on every trend, even when it relates to a favourite piece of clothing, something I really need to take note of myself as I am guilty of jumping on trends and then realising they are not for me.

This couldn’t be more perfect! A blazer your way. You look amazing and hip and stylish!

This is the way I like my blazers too! It looks great on you. Love your shoes!

I have six blazers (not oversized) and I love them. I'm not getting rid of mine and I love wearing them in the fall and winter!

I love a nice linen blazer, just enough weight and warmth for summer.

Looks great Suz. I feel like nice linen blazers are hard to find, so you gotta grab them when you can. I have an old blue one from Zara. Not my best colour but the fit (traditional fitted) and the fabric (not too wrinkly) are just perfect. I’ve been looking for an olive green one for literally years. Looks like you found it :)

I can see why you like this style, suits you perfectly. And so nice to have it be so versatile!
