OBG #3 The Blues

Today's items include some of my earliest purchases after joining YLF.

J. Crew Thomas Mason tuxedo shirt in periwinkle blue. This was pricey for me when I bought it, but I fell in love with the fabric and bought two others in this line, that I also still own. The higher neckline works with short hair and the pleats are my yang version of ruffles.

With it, wearing my CoH white jeans. Lower rise than is current, but I love the fit and feel of these and they come in so handy.

Also, an old leopard print belt from Canadian Tire. Remember those, Carla??

When I go out, I'll add my white sneakers and the Reiss blazer, a real workhorse bought at the YLF 8th birthday gathering in 2014. And the H&M scarf from last week.

Inside --- new house shoes. But more on those in a future post. :)

I mean, you and blue is like peas and carrots - they go so darn beautifully together!  I love how belt picks up the pattern in the scarf, but the outfit certainly isn't lacking without it. The tuxedo detail in the shirt is so interesting - no wonder you bought multiples!

LOL!  The sisterhood of the Canadian Tire Belts.  For those not from Canada, Canadian Tire is a store that specializes in seasonal outdoor recreational kit and home supplies:  Christmas lights and decor, patio furniture, gardening supplies, replacement toilet seats, hockey skates, bags, camping gear, kitchen wear, antifreeze, picnic coolers, etc. Lots of car stuff - and some stores have attached garage bays with licensed mechanics.  Men (and some women) love the place!

There is always a circular display of (cheap) belts near the checkouts.  The crazy thing is, they are usually leather and pretty darn well made for the price!

Sorry for the tangent, Suz.  By any chance do you have that tuxedo shirt in a plaid?  I think it came in a plaid, but could be thinking of another style.  There was a year when JCrew came out with this great plaid and did shirts, skirts, pants, jacket - everything - in the pattern.

    ❤️ Ing #3!

You had me at blue :)! I love everything about this, Suz.

Wow! Adore this. You look so fantastic in blue!!

Love blue outfits on you - perfect looks! The scarf and jacket are fab together ( your styling is awesome )!

Another FABULOUS look, Suz! Super cute! LOVE the pattern mixing! Beautiful blues. Quintessential YOU look.

With the '90s coming through as a major trend, the lower rise fits in.

I remember the Reiss blazer sooo well. You and Viv tapped me on the shoulder in Club Monaco and asked me to look at Reiss blazers next door.......and they followed you home :)

Fab look - so stylish. Lovely pattern mixing. It looks great on you.

Canadian Tire is an interesting name - I imagined it was automotive parts.

Love. I bought a riveted belt at Tractor Supply. It is also a good place for wild bird seed and suet blocks. You look wonderful.

Every time I’m in a Cdn Tire I think about those belts . And smile . Another great look Suz , and I know this is contrary to forum ideas , but I think the lower rise is really flattering ! Nice clogs too - can’t wait to hear about them .

Blue is gorgeous on you.  I love the detailing on the shirt.  Canadian Tire belts!  :)  I will have to look out for one.

  • Helena replied 3 years ago

Hahah, I bought a belt from CT this summer!!!

Periwinkle is lovely on you, and love the pleated detail on the front!

I have a J Crew blue tuxedo shirt too. I'm pretty sure it was inspired by how lovely  you looked -- and still do -- in yours. I haven't worn it in a minute but it keeps surviving the consignment purges.

I'm feeling the mid-rises again, too. And loving the pattern on the H&M scarf.

  • Irina replied 3 years ago

You wear blue brilliantly. This shirt is exactly what I look for in shirts - modern but timeless with streamlined details.

Very elegant look with well thought details.

Sal, Canadian Tire IS an automotive store! (Well, and a kind of everything store. But not known for its fashion, to say the least!) We forum members all felt quite pleased with ourselves for leaving no retail stone unturned. The price was right, too.

Joy -- Tractor supply sounds even better. Belts AND bird food!!!

Lisa, I like a lower rise on some pants too. It can be more comfy. A higher rise is better from the point of view of leg-lengthening (esp with shorter legs like mine) but that's not the only flattery priority. Anyway, I'm not sorry I've saved a couple of mid rise pants, including these.

Angie, that's my memory as well. This blazer has been such a workhorse. Of course I don't wear it as much now that I'm working from home, and I have to admit it is starting to show its age...but I'm nowhere near ready to let it go. A marvellous buy for me.

Carla, I don't remember that particular shirt in plaid...but it did come in gingham check, which I bought. I wear the blue and the check a LOT and the white one a whole lot less. I think the white was the first purchase but it gets much less use. I'm not sure why....

    J. Crew does have some lovely plaid shirts now, not tuxedo style but regular, and some with ruffles (that I didn't collect since I don't like them).

I am crazy for that scarf and belt pairing with the navy blazer.  SQUEE!  So FAB!

  • delurked replied 3 years ago

Love this for you. The fit on the top is so nice and flattering.

  • Jaime replied 3 years ago

I am feeling the lower waist - the white jeans I wore in my last post are older boyfriend jeans. Let's bring back the boyfriend :) .
You look fabulous in the blues - the shirt is still pristine and the perfect color. Jacket and scarf are just right too!

  • Runcarla replied 3 years ago

    Gotcha!  Thanks, Suz.

@torontogirl - welcome to the sisterhood!

  • Karie replied 3 years ago

I remember when you bought that blazer! It still looks fabulous, as does the rest of your outfit.
