Plaid pants & YLF gift & Blundstones

Every now and again, J. Crew does a brilliant wool pant. I have their culotte from maybe 5 years ago? And last year they made these red plaid pants -- lined, and so warm. I don't wear them a ton, but in December and January, they are a slam dunk.

I'm off on the ferry to Vancouver today for a few days of appointments and meetings and maybe some shopping. It's bitter cold and colder on the boat so I have heattech under my cotton turtleneck. But the pants will keep me warm!

Bonus -- the red sparkly scarf (you probably can't see the sparkles) is a gift from a lovely YLF secret santa some years back. I still love it!

And the Blundstones will be my footwear for the trip -- waterproof, versatile, comfortable, and stable.

KILLER festive! Gorgeous pants, and well done, J.Crew! Glad you wrapped up. Soooo cold on boats.

LOVE THE HAT! It's playfully chic and just beautiful on you, Suz. You can send that down to me please :)

    Have a wonderful time!

    Gorgeous! And love the hat!!
Red plaid trousers reads so punk rock to me, I always think Vivienne Westwood. This is the elegant punk version!

Beautiful! Looks so fun but also practical. A winning outfit in my books :)

Love it all.  Perfect outfit for a ferry trip to the mainland!

I enjoyed the eye candy of J Crew when they did a F/W plaid drop.  Even though the clothes didn’t work for my body, the ‘looks’ provided inspiration.

Evert year - for YEARS - I’d read that catalogue and imagine myself in a JCrew Holiday world with plaids and tartans and taffetas and silks . Velvet slippers and cute hats . You’re living my dream ! What did you pack for the trip ?

  • Greyscale replied 2 years ago

Love it! You wear red so well!

I also found some fantastic J Crew wool pants this year, though less festive - charcoal pinstripe pleated trousers (don’t have a link handy but they’re sold out here anyway). A real HEWI for me and I’m glad to see them continuing to make high quality pieces.

Very smart. Love the plaid and… puffy! :) But no really, I do like that collar on the puffy…

Red plaid pants are an essential for you Suz. What a smashing look. And I like those refined Blundstones. My old school ones are quite round and rough - last used on the beach. Don't laugh ;) .

How delightful! I love those plaid pants on you! I have several pairs of wool pants from J. Crew that I love and have worn very well. You look chic and toasty warm (a ferry to Vancouver sounds very fun to me :).

Festive and warm! What could be better in December? YLF!

  • CarolS replied 2 years ago

Oh, you look delightfully festive! And that hat is adorable!!!

  • Suz replied 2 years ago

Thanks, all! Isn't the hat fun? I love a cloche, and this one is water resistant wool so it works really well.

The ferry was great -- no rain during the ride -- but it poured as i got into the city and I got quite wet. The Aritzia puffy managed did surprisingly well. As others have said on my puffer replacement thread, down puffers are not really the thing for wet weather, even if they are supposed to be water resistance -- they never truly are -- but I wasn't out in it for too long, and the coat managed to shed most of the wet.

Lisa, I brought these pants and a couple of different coordinating sweaters, a pair of jeans and several sweaters (merino and cashmere -- it's supposed to be cold). And a skirt in case I feel like wearing one.  Nothing fancy. It's a casual trip but these pants can be dressed up a bit.

What an inspiring travel capsule, Suz! It is so cohesive, and you have so much opportunity to mix and match as circumstances and weather require. Quite masterfully done!

  • Bijou replied 2 years ago

I love your outfit and the entire capsule - festive, practical and warm with lots of options. the hat is gorgeous on you.

  • Brooklyn replied 2 years ago

Fabulous and festive outfit. I bet you stood out in a sea of black.

  • lyn67 replied 2 years ago

Oh, I love your travel capsule, and OMG the travel outfit and your red accents (including the red plaid lined wool pants)are so so gorgeous! YLF, SUZ, no matter freezing boat and all!

  • RobinF replied 2 years ago

I love the reds on you! So pretty and festive. Brr the ferry sounds pretty chilly though!

  • lynn replied 2 years ago

I love every single thing on your cute self!  Are the boots really comfortable?  You look adorable as always!

  • Suz replied 2 years ago

lynn, the boots are SUPER comfortable for me, yes. They have a lot of support in the midfoot, which is a place I really appreciate it. I can and do walk miles and miles in them.

Really nice travel collection. Hope your trip is fun and that the weather isn't too awful .

Thank you for the reminder of how great patterned pants can be in the winter! I have quite a few patterned pants for summer, probably most of my summer pants. In winter, when legs sticking out from under a coat might be the only hint of what lies beneath, mine are nearly all solids. Go figure.

You look suave in your “indoors” outfit, cute as can be with the cheery red & puffer for the ferry, and seasonally festive in both. Nice little travel capsule too.

  • Janet replied 2 years ago

Those pants are so great on you! Perfect supporting acts too. Hope you have a good trip!

  • Karie replied 2 years ago

I’ve always loved those J Crew plaid pants, and the hat is super cute too. Enjoy your trip - hopefully you will have time for some shopping!

  • JAileen replied 2 years ago

Those pants are awesome!  I like your whole outfit.

I got a Stewart plaid sweater from J Crew factory a short while ago, and have worn it several times already.
