PMWIW: Sick-a-bed

This post is part of the post-more-what-I-wear challenge. Not that I really need to bore you with more posts, but what the heck.

This is also part of the "keeping it real" theme.

I have cut off my feet in #1. Which is fitting, since most of the day they were clad in socks alone. For the photo (and for my brief foray out) I wore my Zara ink booties. I also had a coat and scarf and bag, but I'm too tired to take a photo of all that.

This is what I wore to the imaging department of the local hospital. They suspect pneumonia. Stay tuned!

I can tell you one thing. Online shopping is a fab entertainment when you are exhausted.

#2 is what I wore for an attempted visit to the Walk In clinic yesterday. It was too busy so I didn't bother going in. I wanted to try some subtle pattern mixing. Had to bump up the light so you could see.

So, in all my snotty nosed, pouffy haired splendour. Send healing thoughts! :)

I love both these outfits.  You look amazing.

Also, thanks for defining PMWIW.  I never would have figured it out.

  • Deborah replied 9 years ago

Suz, looking good! I can see you are not quite yourself though, so do make sure you take care. These outfits look like great FFB options for "those" days. Colour is a great tool for when we are not feeling 100%. Stylish as always.

  • Laura (rhubarbgirl) replied 9 years ago

Man, I can't believe you're still sick, Suz. :( Should I hope for a pneumonia diagnosis just so some treatment can happen? You look amazingly good, considering.

It's funny, healthcare is so overloaded here that I find it works much better to dress like a slob when you're needing prompt treatment of something. In the past when I've made an effort to look pulled together even though I feel like crap, the doctors and nurses think I'm exaggerating my symptoms and they don't take me seriously. Proof of how first impressions are important, in a weird way.

  • texstyle replied 9 years ago

Suz - I'm so sorry you are still not feeling well. This has been a stubborn virus for you. You look great in spite of it all but *still* I certainly am sending healing thoughts and a PM for other things to try.

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

Sending healing thoughts, chicken soup, fluffy pillows, on-line shopping & anything else you need :) :)

  • Astrid replied 9 years ago

Suz, oh no... pneumonia, how awful. Although you manage to look great in spite of it. Sending you lots of healing vibes!

  • Ornella replied 9 years ago

Suz, I cringed... I hope it's not pneumonia. Even "just" chest infection made me feel lifeless when I had it (not to mention 3 courses of antibiotics, some of which I ended up having allergy to) - and I certainly did not look this good.

Thanks for explaining the acronym, I'm again on and off here and have completely missed what it's about. Looks like I have time to catch up.

  • Alexandra replied 9 years ago

You look great in both outfits! Sending healing vibes, feel better soon!

  • abc replied 9 years ago

Please take care of yourself.  You are the most fab looking sick person I have ever seen.

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

The first outfit is classic Suz with the vibrant pullover and slouchy jeans.  The second one seems different and I really like this polished yet undone academic look on you.  It works, but I'm sorry it didn't get you to the front of the clinic's queue!

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Wow you look amazing for being SOOOO sick. I hope you feel better soon. Gah pneumonia's the worst. My DS & DH both had it the year before last, and same DS had it a few years before that. Absolutely exhausting. I sure hope you can get some treatment soon. Feel better :)

  • milehighstyle (Linda) replied 9 years ago

Aw, Suz - please feel better soon.  Great outfits - I especially love the first one.  And we are pants twins with the second one - I actually have a photo to post with those too.  Take good care of yourself!

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

Suz, I can't believe you get dressed at all when you are this sick.  You are a trooper and you look just as amazing as always, just a little pale and weary - so get back in bed!

  • replied 9 years ago

Oh dear - hope it's not pneumonia, although that would at least give you something to resolve and "cure".  Yes, sitting around resting is a little too conducive to on-line shenanigans - be careful :)  And get better soon!

  • PalmFronds replied 9 years ago

You look great esp knowing you feel so rotten! Gosh I hope you are on a healing path soon, take care

  • bj1111 replied 9 years ago

ummm, you look really feverish.  should you be out of bed?  can't someone call in a script for you?

  • Peri replied 9 years ago

I'm so sorry...here's hoping the doctors figure out what is keeping you from getting well. And that they do something about it!

Anyway, even when sick you look fab.

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

    Ah, thanks all...

If it is pneumonia, it's viral, so truly, not much they can do except give me permission not to do anything. Apart from online shopping, that is.  ;)

Still, it will be good to know one way or another. I am supposed to travel this weekend...

  • Carole replied 9 years ago

I cant believe you look so good and feel so sick....well, I do actually, but you know what I mean! So sorry you aren't better yet, Suz:( pneumonia would explain a lot! I remember feeling like I could barely lift my legs to walk before I was diagnosed with it. Sending get well wishes!

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Oh Suz, I'm so sorry you're still sick! This has been quite the long sickness for you. You look fabulous, and I hope you start feeling fabulous soon :)

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Oh, Suz. (((HUGS))). I hope you're diagnosed asap so that they can get you sorted. I bet you're awfully frustrated feeling less than your steller self. Sending more feel better energy and much love. xo

You look AMAZING - and you're sick. I am even more wowed. I love the pattern mix in #2. Fashionably thrown together. xo

  • Elizabeth P replied 9 years ago

Gosh Suz, even feeling miserable, you look cute as a button.  I hope this doesn't sound bad but I kinda hope you DO have pneumonia, so you can get treated!  I don't think I've ever known someone to be so down for so long.  Big hugs to you.

  • Sal replied 9 years ago

    Get well soon!
I am impressed you can still take pics on a sick day..well done!

  • deb replied 9 years ago

Get well soon, you. I like both outfits and did not notice any poufy hair.

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Oh Suz, you are not allowed to travel this weekend! You did it last time and look where it landed you! Please, please put yourself first and take care of you <many-many hugs>
Honestly you look just glamorous while being sick and staying at home: I would look like a complete wreck in your place. You are a true inspiration!
<here is a truckload of healing vibes going your way>

  • ElleH replied 9 years ago

You look great. Not sick looking at all. I'm sorry to hear that you are sick though. I hope it isn't pneumonia or anything serious. Sending healing vibes your way.

  • Aubergine replied 9 years ago

You look better sick than most people look at 100% healthy! Love how the pink brightens you up in #1 and the subtle pattern mix in #2 is really cool.

I actually just bought that exact navy cardigan, BTW.

  • Jen W replied 9 years ago

You look incredible!  I've just recovered from bacterial pneumonia and never looked as pulled together as this for the entire 6 weeks.  You amaze me!  I hope that you do go ahead and give yourself permission to rest and browse, even if it's not pneumonia.  It's important to take extra good care of yourself.  Sending healing thoughts so that you get well enough to accept packages and show us what you've gotten yourself to lift your spirits this winter.

  • karymk replied 9 years ago

Oh Suz how'd you get that sick! So sorry!! I had pneumonia so I know you are struggling.  Well at least you have YLF as a happy diversion.

  • Meow replied 9 years ago

You look too cute I worry that the Docs won't think you're sick!  Seriously!

  • kellygirl replied 9 years ago

Oh, Suz, I hope you are feeling better soon. You look radiant in the orchid sweater especially. You are setting a high bar for dressing when sick. I usually can't get out of loungewear.

  • Gaylene replied 9 years ago

Aw, Suz, you are a trouper to get dressed up AND post while suffering from pneumonia! Take care of yourself!

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Smashing even while sick - please get a diagnosis and well asap!

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

Oh goodness lord! I hope you feel better soon. Pneumonia stinks :( .... They do treat pneumonia with antibiotics (I think there are both viral and bacterial pneumonia). That's what they did for DS2. IV antibiotics :( So hopefully you should feel better soon. At least you will have a diagnosis. Have you done your blood work yet? Meanwhile DS2 has started a cold yet again and I am super scared about a relapse :( Fingers crossed it is not. Treating him with loads of fluids and ginger juice with honey.

I can't believe you dress like that when sick as a dog! It would be a bonus if I brushed my teeth! Sending hugs and some healing vibes. You look gorgeous!

  • Sharon replied 9 years ago

I'm so sorry to hear you are still sick. It is really exhausting to feel unwell for more than a few days, so I can understand you would feel worn down. The good news is that you don't look it! You look fabulous as always, and the pink is so lovely on you. Hope you start to feel good again soon.

  • Elly replied 9 years ago

    Dear Suz,

So sorry to hear you are still feeling crummy. I do hope you don't have pneumonia --- is it bad to wish for just the super cold of the season instead? I had 2 family members with it and one (the healthier of the two) recovered promptly after 2 weeks and the other has been repeated times to the doctors and still sounds like death in the evenings but is apparently feeling good otherwise 4 weeks out. Viral pneumonia is the worst--- at least if that is the case you should be eligible for the pneumonia shot next year which reduces the likelihood of you having it again anytime soon.

  • Diana replied 9 years ago

Get well soon! Hope you figure out what it is.

  • Beth Ann replied 9 years ago

Sending you many good wishes, prayers and hugs for a complete recovery!  Love the mixing in #2 and the color lift of #1!

  • replied 9 years ago

Oh, my dear Suz, I was talking to my mum about you today and told her how poorly you were. ((hugs)) sending healing vibes.

I'm amazed you even have the energy to do this and you look great! I do love those patterned jeans and of course the lovely orchid colour. Good idea to put on a cheery colour to aid recovery.

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

Still fighting with the flu??? OMG, this is sucking, but nr 1 is a true color therapy, and love it of course. Now about nr 2. I was really surprised to love all the details, and subtle pattern mixing. I have a similar pair of jeans, and didn't wore  it yet with anything other than a grey or black sweatshirt. I don't have the right items, but you thnax for the inspiration, will help me thinking little further, and out of the box. More tea and hugs!:-)

  • Debbie replied 9 years ago

You look great in these outfit. I hope you get better soon.
I hope you are leaving the cooking and cleaning to your family.

  • columbine(erin) replied 9 years ago

I hope you feel bett soon! Pneumonia is no fun, been there and done that several times.

  • tulle replied 9 years ago

Hang in there, Suz.  Very often, it seems, that "can't-stand-this-one-more-minute" point in an illness is exactly the point when things turn around, and healing follows rapidly.  I hope that's what 's happening with you.  Meanwhile, you can draw sustenance from that radiant orchid--one of those nourishing colors, and great on you.

  • Alassë replied 9 years ago

I'm sorry you're still feeling unwell. FWIW, you look wonderfully pulled together in your casual outfits.

  • unfrumped replied 9 years ago

No  more sick! You must be worn out.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Suz, you look great in these outfits! I'm so sorry you are sick, and I hope the diagnosis will be somehow informative, so the doctors can help get you back to health.

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

Dear Suz, I am sorry that you are still unwell!
Sending healing thoughts and wishes from warm and sunny Oz.

  • Eliza replied 9 years ago

Suz- sorry you still feel poorly. I hope it turns around quickly and you feel better ASAP. It feels better to have a diagnosis, especially if there is anything that would help. Do take good care of yourself.

As far as the WIW challenge, the good news is you look awesome and the bad news is the state of your health may be over-estimated due to how flattering everything is.

I hear you on online shopping when confined to the house. Recuperating from surgery now and managed to get a jcrew sale order in before coffee this morning. Puts one firmly in the "I need a treat camp"...

Even without a diagnosis, better to assume it's pneumonia and baby yourself than to push too hard. Slows recovery down.

    Hang in there!
