Quiet plaid and my discovery that it's time to buy more tartan!

Completely by chance I wore quiet plaid today. My fab Paul Green boots bought with Angie a few years ago at NAS. In a column of colour with second hand dress and ancient Pure Amici sweater.

I love plaid quiet AND loud and love to mix my plaids. But most of what is in the closet now is quite subdued. Maybe I need to change that soon!

On my phone so will add finds when on computer.

New haircut too.

ETA: Added my current tartan items -- clearly I need more!!

I do have a couple of "loud" plaid items -- the red pants and the scarf. Some might call the Rails shirt loud but the colours are so easy for me to wear that it feels quiet on me.

    Holy Smokes, you look fabulous!!
Love everything about this look, the berry colours are just so scrumptious and just pop with your hair colour.

    KILLER

Excellent hosiery match! Love the way the scarf adds softness and pizzaz. Bag matches your super cute hair!

I don't have enough loud plaid - on my shopping list! Yours too :)

    The current tartan collection.

  • slim cat replied 1 year ago

That's totally gorgeous! The hair is to die for ( envy on the hair and the total look ;) )!

  • Joy replied 1 year ago

Wonderful outfit. YLF! Now do this column of color with navy using your navy tulle skirt. You might use that second jacket in your finds.

OMG, beautiful outfit, my favorite color for Autumn and Winter. You look awesome.

Berry nice! :) Sich a luscious pattern mix. And I’m giggling at the bunch of us who are all refusing to go along with the “loud” part of Friday’s post. Angie needs to sell that trick to a middle school teacher, lol.

I don’t really do pattern and would steal the boots and scarf in a minute. You look pulled together, with a sense of fun.

    Love this on you!

Wow Suz!  This is a stellar outfit.  I have been thinking a lot about what makes an outfit look balanced, and I think it’s the number of elements that complement each other.  Too many and it doesn’t work, too few and it also doesn’t work.  Here you have color, texture and pattern balanced to perfection.  Bravo! Also, the new haircut looks great!

What a great look for you!

  • nemosmom replied 1 year ago

Oh wowzers! What a gorgeous column of color!! Is this color new in your palette?? You are glowing! I love the plaid mixed with the organic print in your scarf, too.

  • CarolS replied 1 year ago

Suz, I love this colour on you, and the subtle pattern mix is sublime!

  • kkards replied 1 year ago

Lol, so clearly quiet vs loud plaid is subjective…or maybe you can wear quiet plaid in a loud way? IMO there’s nothing quiet about this FAB outfit

Thanks for the kind comments everyone. I was also blessed with a real mirror in the place we were lunching! I photographed this outfit last spring at home but the photos did not turn out so well so you couldn't see it much. I need a better mirror set up at home and have tried in vain to get it sorted -- I'm now two mirrors in and neither works.

The boots are an example of a great forward looking purchase made with Angie. The year I got them, lug soles had not really started to trend. But I adore plaid and adore boots, and they were so lightweight and comfortable that I took a chance -- and look how they have paid off. I wore them frequently, right from the start, but last year they really came into their own. And they are still going strong. In great shape.

nemosmom, this is not a new colour for me. I always have reds and pinks and cognate colours in my closet -- from burgundy and softened eggplant (the dress is a purplish burgundy that might be called eggplant in marketing) to cranberry (the sweater is cranberry red) to darker blue reds (the boots), to lighter, brighter versions like fuchsia and magenta and orchid and raspberry. And true fire engine red. (I know these are not all the same colour but they are all versions of red, either darkened with black, like burgundy, or lightened/ brightened with white, or mixed with blue for the purplish hues.

Reds are actually my only real colour except blues! But I don't have enough of them because they've been scarce at retail in the past five years and before that I was focused on building my wardrobe and tended to go for my core neutrals -- navy and other blues, grey, white. If colour trends

These are my current items in the red/ purplish/burgundy/ berry/ orchid families, across all seasons. I haven't put the dress in Finds yet.

I also have some burgundy toned gear, but it is almost worn out. Alas!!

  • cat2 replied 1 year ago

Love the look. Which tights brand do you like?

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

Thanks cat2. I think these are old Hue tights, probably -- bought ages ago at The bay.

I just love this outfit!  You look so very very fab.

  • SarahD8 replied 1 year ago

Wow, stunning! A real master class in how columns of color need not be flat or boring — and how patterns can be incorporated into column of color looks to add texture without breaking up the column. Taking notes!

  • Jonesy replied 1 year ago

You look fab--inspired by the gorgeous foliage! I love the touches of plaid and pattern that the boots and scarf bring.

  • lyn67 replied 1 year ago

Great new cut-love the spiky bangs and your color lightens up the burgundy column of color-which is KILLER wow!:-)
