Sale in Canada

I can't shop yet, but could look through the preview today. As usual, compared to the offerings in the US, the sale up here is dismal. A lot of black without the other colour options and a lot of items flat out not available. In women's clothing there are 711 items vs. 2164 items in the US sale. It's understandable -- economies of scale -- but also disappointing. Unfortunately, when they opened in Canada they made it so you can no longer shop with your US card at the US stores so I don't have one any more and can't order from there.

I should be able to get some underwear (a definite NEED this year) but I won't expect anything else, except maybe a pair of La Canadienne boots, since the price is excellent and I know I will get good use from those.  I'll use the US sale to get an idea of what is trending or what I might like to try out later in the season if versions become available from other retailers up here.

Yes, Suz, I agree - slim pickings on the Canadian site, as usual.
I have 6 items on my list, not sure what will be available once they open the sale for everyone.

I am sorry to hear you have much less options in Canada, Suz!   I hope you manage to get your basics and the boots, if nothing else.   Great idea to use the sale as reference point for the upcoming season.

Well, bummer! I'm not surprised though, it seems this has been the track for the last few years. Hope you can get the items you need!

I’m sad to hear this, as the sale can often be fun and fruitful, and I want my Canadian friends to reap the benefits just as we do. I shall now refrain from making a political statement about all the things Canada has going for it that we in the U.S. most decidedly do not :)

I know what a careful and thoughtful shopper you are, Suz, and I hope you are able to make purchases that are practical and spark joy in the weeks and months to come.

    BLAST! Very disappointing :(

Suz, can't you get a US Nordies card? If not, does that mean that you can't come down to the US and shop the NAS with me like you used to?

Here to help in any way!

That's so disappointing. I don't quite get how or why they control whether you have a US card as well as a Canada one. But I like your strategy of using the US NAS and YLF to help with scoping out possibilities for later in the season, and/or at other retailers.

I’ve got my nose out of joint regarding Nordstroms CA after they took away the points I had accumulated.  :-(

I like following the excitement, and do learn from the NAS posts, but I have to try other sources to find duplicates.  I have had luck with The Bay.

That’s so mean, letting you see everything available here, but then only offer you a fraction of the things.  And in black, too.  :(

  • Staysfit replied 1 year ago

I’m sorry Suz. This is very disappointing.

  • Kathie replied 1 year ago

Disappointing all the way around. I hope the boots will work for you.

Angie, I'm not sure if I can get a US card any more. It's a weird system. When they opened the Canadian branch they took away all the points I had accumulated in the US. And then I could not use my US card in Canada, and wasn't using it in the US (for obvious reasons) and it expired. Anyway, I can check into it again. I have a US $ bank account so might be able to renew or revive the old card -- we shall see. I can also use my Visa, but that means I don't get early access in the US.

Carla you are right -- The Bay has some of the same (or similar) items and they do have good sales.

Suz, that is really disappointing. So sorry to hear it.

What a bummer! I have a lot of empathy about the lack of color choices,  it’s my yearly beef about plus size selections.

  • Ana replied 1 year ago

+1 what Kyle said, but that’s so disappointing, Suz! :( I wonder why they do that? I guess I can understand offering fewer items but limited colors doesn’t really make sense.

  • Barbara Diane replied 1 year ago

I can’t believe they didn’t transfer your points! Besides the sale differences.
    :(

    I feel your pain Suz ;) .

Suz, I really hope you can get a US Nordies card!

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

I know you've ordered the FS loafers, and I hope they work!

I wonder if the other three here would work too?

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

Thank you, Angie -- I will look and see if they are in Canada. Will keep you posted!

ETA -- no, only the Sartos available. Very mixed reviews so far, with many saying they hurt. And others saying they flop off heel -- always my experience with loafers (or all flats). But will try them regardless since I can return.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

Interesting! FWIW, I had rave reviews from my clients, and did not find them too bad. Too chunky and heavy for my own style - but not too uncomfortable.

  • Roxanna replied 1 year ago

@suz - have you tried the Sale section of Ron White shoes? I got a couple of pairs of beautiful Italian made leather Loafers there last year. They are still pricy, but at a significant discount. I am contemplating a bag and a pair of sandals that are a great sale price on the site.

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

Thank you, Roxanna! Will check it out. And thanks, Angie. They are worth a try, regardless!
