Seasonal red

Now that I think of it, my last post could have gone under this category, too. This is my new red merino sweater from Simon's. I'm getting my plaid in with the footwear this time. I refuse to let go of these Paul Green plaid combat boots. I keep trying to see if I can find a cobbler who can fix them, but so far, no luck. The zipper on one boot is broken (but I can use the laces). The heels are starting to wear down. But the body of the boots are in great shape -- they look good as new. So I feel like there is hope?

My outfit doesn't use black, but charcoal, which is as close as I get to black.

As I said on Irina's colour thread, I wear red in various combinations almost every day throughout December. It's my favourite mood-lifting colour on these dark days.

A friend came to lunch yesterday and brought me the grey cotton rib button front sweater, also from Simon's. She'd purchased it for herself but it didn't fit her so she gave it to me!

Hope you are all enjoying the holiday feasts and celebrations. The days are getting longer, yay! (At least for those of us in the northern hemisphere!)

Red is so your color Suz. The new sweater looks fantastic. I remember those boots and don't blame you for wanting to save them. I am sure they are fixable somewhere - but it might be expensive. I, of course, would be google lensing them to find them second hand. They are exactly the sort of thing someone might have in the back of their closet unworn.

Red loves you back, Suz! Wear whatever makes you feel better during our long winters. The combination of red and grey is great and you look fab in your new sweater.

I wish there was a color that would lift my spirit in the upcoming months.

Love the seasonal red on you Suz and I also agree with Jaime re the boots.

Red is a good colour all year but I don't especially wear it in December.  I prefer it in winter.  This year I do plan to wear green tomorrow but it is not especially Christmas like.

Sal, that is so true -- if I lived in your hemisphere, I'd be wearing red all June! I do have some summer only reds, but not many. I pretty much confine red to winter. (The bag is both seasons, of course.)

Love those green pants! I think seasonal colours need to be reinterpreted for your climate. Just because something works in the north does not mean it should work in the south.

Jaime, -- great idea! I will do a search!

I love all the red, and you look gorgeous wearing it, it is definitely your color! I hope you can find a good cobbler to fix those boots, it would be a shame to get rid of them.

I like red in the winter too ! It’s interesting to see you in gray - I like it ! Lovely gift :). And I agree with the others in that red is certainly your colour .

I looked up the boots -- found them in size 10. And a 9. And a 6. None of which will work for me, alas! Oh well. They have been wonders and I will get at least one more year from them.

The polo colour really suits you, and the sweater colour is perfect.❤️

Cobblers are hard to find!  Good luck with your quest.

I love red year ‘round, but I don’t have as much as you do!  I’m wanting to combine red and burgundy, but don’t have enough individual pieces to make an outfit yet.

And for Sal and those in the Southern hemisphere - I’m going to tackle a Pavlova for Christmas Day desert!

You look smashing in red. Your new grey cardi is perfect. That is my favourite outfit. Those red pants are made for you and look totally fab with the loafers. I am wearing my burgundy knits now around Christmas.

Gorgeous as ever Suz. Happy Christmas! I will wear my red tomorrow which is Christmas Day here. Painted my toenails red this afternoon! To go with red dress and sparkly red sandals. And the strawberries that are part of dessert maybe.
I especially love your hair in the first photo. It looks even more luminous than usual.

I hereby crown you Queen Blue Red! It loves you right back, Suz! Red is your best bright colour! Looking casually elegant in all your outfits, as always :)

Loving everything! Especially the new shorter and extra chic haircut. Beautiful :) Lovely on trend sweater gift too.

#1 is particularly punchy and KILLER fab! The pearls with the much loved sentimental stompy plaid boots are an awesome pairing!

You look great in red SUZ, and those plaid boots are just so fab, I can see why you're trying to preserve them. How wonderful of your friend to gift you that lovely polo sweater. The grey works beautifully with the red pants. Might become a workhorse.

Red is such a lovely color on you and I'm with Dee, the plaid boots are indeed so far. The new grey polo cardigan sweater is a wonderful gift from your friend. And what a brilliant idea to substitute grey for black!

Red is definitely a mood booster when you wear it so well. I love it with the tan puffer - it's a fab outfit head to toe and including the bag. You look fantastic!

Gorgeous red combinations! Red color is totally you!
Very pretty jewelry - love your bracelets.

So cute! You have a great red “ capsule” in versatile pieces that you mix in beautifully. I like those “ seasonal” looks much better than a lot of bling or one- use festive items. And many of your red items could mix with much dressier items if needed.

Goodness, these are such gorgeous outfits on you, Suz. I would be loathe to give up on those plaid boots, too. I hope you find someone who can extend their life. What a great gift from your friend--the sweater looks fab on you.

Red it is so not my color and contrary to you I pretty much confine my seldom worn corals to summer. This been said I so enjoy  seeing red on others for this time of the year. It really shows it is your happy festive color. Love that you team  it with more creams/greys instead of blacks and I can understand the love on those boots-they are really special and signature for You! Hope you can fix them or find replacements for them somewhere in the future!
