Something old, something new, nothing borrowed, everything blue

Mr. Suz and I went out for lunch today and I put on my Boden paperbag waist skirt for the first time. It does emphasize my slight short-waistedness, but I just love the style and couldn't pass it up. POCKETS!!!

I think it will be really useful because it can easily be dressed up for more festive occasions with a silk blouse or sparkly top. And it's very cross-seasonal for this climate. I got the lightweight version suspecting it would be okay with hose or tights even on a cold day, and I was right -- today it is quite cold (for Vancouver) and I was fine in it, even in a shorter coat.

Mr. Suz and I were also comparing sweaters today. This Equipment cashmere (4 years old now?) only has a tiny bit of pilling under the arms whereas he has some BR cashmere that is a complete mess after only a few wears. So frustrating. Anyway, glad I sprang for this sweater. It was pricey for me even at NAS but has proved worth it because the pattern makes it a bit more interesting.

I like the proportions, Suz. Nicely done.

  • nemosmom replied 1 year ago

Wow Suz, your legs look a mile long!! Beautiful!

  • Joy replied 1 year ago

Great outfit. That is a sweater that I wish I owned but it was sold out quickly. I did get an Joie floral sweatshirt for my cold spring capsule but it is not on the level of that sweater. For some reason if it does not show up in my Find, you can see it if you click on it. Grey background with scattered flowers of blue and white.
    You look beautiful.

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

    FABULOUS, Suz. You're all legs!

Mr. Suz is a lucky man. I love that skirt on you. It's structured fluidity is close to my heart, and you wear it well. I can see it with some of your other tops too.

So pretty Suz. I've admired that sweater over the years and love seeing it in this new styling.
That lip color though! Can I ask what it is? It looks gorgeous on you!

  • Brooklyn replied 1 year ago

Really pretty. You wear blue so well.

  • Kimraby replied 1 year ago

Everything blue works for you. Especially with your hair and that lipstick. Spectacular.

  • bonnie replied 1 year ago

The skirt looks terrific and the sweater is the perfect top for it. Lovely outfit!

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

Thank you all. The skirt is really a fun change up.

Brooklyn, if I didn't wear blue well I would be in serious trouble considering the contents of my closet! I'd need a YLF intervention.

Angie, yes, I can see it with a lot of my tops. Options below! Thank you!

Helena, the lip colour is Clinique Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Broadest Berry.

Joy, that sweater looks very similar! I hesitated with the pattern mix in this one but in the end went for it and I'm so glad I did. I know Angie has passed her own on, but the greys in it work so well with my hair.

Gorgeous! The colors of the sweater are beautiful on you.

  • Cardiff girl replied 1 year ago

You wear that skirt so well and it is a gorgeous question.I see that you have tucked a jumper in ,did you go up a size to accommodate this or are you able to do it wearing your regular size?

  • Katerina replied 1 year ago

Wonderful outfit, you look gorgeous. Great skirt and the sweater is absolutely perfect for you. Wow!

  • Synne replied 1 year ago

    Love your style!

  • Mainelady replied 1 year ago

Everything blue looks so good on you! The sweater was a very good purchase.....4 years and going strong. Ahhhh the gorgeousness of your new skirt is spectacular! Long, lean and fluid. Most becoming!

Stunning gorgeous in blue! I love this on you.

  • Bennett replied 1 year ago

So jealous! I love a paperbag waist on a skirt but I am seriously short waisted so it looks ridiculous on me. You wear it so well. What a great purchase!

  • Murph11 replied 1 year ago

    Perfect in every way!

  • lisa p replied 1 year ago

I've always loved that sweater on you, and remember when it first hit YLF.  I have the one Joy showed up-post.  Anyways , blues are certainly your colour, and this skirt is a fun addition to your closet.

At first it struck me as overly high waisted, but when I went back to look again  - it's not. The length mitigates any of that look. Funny trick of the eye..... Is it comfortable to walk in ?

I bet it will be great to wear in VCR spring weather too .

  • Angie replied 1 year ago

OOOH. Lots of fun top options for the skirt. Silver top & silver boots? I like the floral top idea a lot.

  • Christina F. replied 1 year ago

I don't have much to add that hasn't been said - KILLER FAB.

  • Laura replied 1 year ago

I love the high-waisted look on you! So flattering!

  • Sara L. replied 1 year ago

Great look!  I love the skirt on you.  I actually have a similar high-waisted, midi length skirt (except mine is brown) that I should try wearing again.

  • Vicki replied 1 year ago

You're a stunner in this outfit and I hope your lunch was delightful.  I haven't been on in a long while and may I say your makeup is gorgeous in these photos (love the blush, foundation and lippie...and all of it, pretty!).

Also, funny, how you won the pilling comparison contest with your DH.

  • taylor replied 1 year ago

Gorgeous shade of blue on you !

  • JAileen replied 1 year ago

I really love the sweater, and the outfit looks great. Blue looks so good on you.

  • karen13 replied 1 year ago

Your look fab in this. Gorgeous colors. I continue to adore that sweater and am always happy to see it! I’ve been on a cashmere kick recently (it is a “comfort food” for my closet in a tumultuous world) so I’m very interested in learning about quality.

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

Thank you all for the kind comments. You know, I really am a bit short waisted and this skirt does emphasize the fact, but somehow the length helps to mitigate or soften that effect or simply make it a non-issue. I guess my figure loves the leg lengthening so much that other factors don't weigh as heavily. I did wear this style well in the 80s.

Karen, I wish I had the magic answer about cashmere quality. The sad truth is, that while sometimes you get what you pay for, sometimes you don't! And it can be awfully difficult to tell in advance. Newer cashmere seems nothing compared to the old stuff. I have a sweater of DH's that is literally more than 40 years old and still fantastic. It's very heavy and hot, however.

Thanks, Vicki. Haven't changed the makeup routine at all -- it is probably a combo of the colours and the light making it look that way.
I literally wear the same colours and same products for YEARS. I have zero interest in makeup except for creating a bit more definition and polish so once I find something I like, I stick with it until they stop producing it.

Cardiff Girl -- I am wearing my regular size. Didn't need to go up. The sweater is not super thick but is of course thicker than a shirt or tee.

Lisa P -- there's a slit in the back of the skirt so I can walk.

Angie -- yes, I plan to wear the skirt cross seasonally so different footwear can come into play. Some options...

  • lisa p replied 1 year ago

This could also be great as a pant for you if Boden produces one...

  • Firecracker replied 1 year ago

    Beautiful, Suz!

  • anchie replied 1 year ago

Great outfit and beautiful skirt. I think it will work hard in your wardrobe, I can see so many possibilities.

  • The Cat replied 1 year ago

Love your beautiful blue outfit. The skirt as well as the sweater look kind of unique. You look happy and adorable.

  • Jenni NZ replied 1 year ago

It looks awesome! Really pretty and you look tall in it.

  • UmmLila replied 1 year ago

This looks so good on you. I have that same sweater and was thinking of taking it to consignment as it's a little larger on me than it was when I bought it, so haven't been wearing much. But now  ... maybe I should stay with it!

  • Windchime replied 1 year ago

Fab outfit! I love seeing your remix with the Equipment sweater. You look beautiful!

  • suntiger replied 1 year ago

That is a cool sweater, and you definitely look tall! Love the blue boots too :)

  • Gail replied 1 year ago

As always you look fab. The skirt seems as though it will become a workhorse for you as it can be worn all year round !

  • Jane replied 1 year ago

    Suz, this looks really super.

I have looked at the skirt a couple of times. \i like the waist detailing. I wondered how much it creased, or hopefully didn't?

  • Suz replied 1 year ago

Jane, the skirt arrived a bit creased in the bag. But it doesn't crease on wearing at all that I could tell, which is very nice. It is lined.
