Tomboy casual with a twist

Quick pic -- I don't have a silky bomber but I do have a new silky kimono so I wore that today to book club.

Bonus pic of my new ring from Iceland. I did not buy myself a sweater but did treat myself to this instead.

Sorry the light is so poor for the photos. One of these days I will get my DSLR back from DD. :)

Fantastic, Suz. The kimono is gorgeous with your hair.

The ring is beautiful and sculptural...is it silver?

  • JAileen replied 6 years ago

I love the ring. Your outfit is casually fab.

  • UmmLila (Lisa) replied 6 years ago

This kimono is a great look for you for summer. I hope you find yourself wearing it often.

  • Greyscale replied 6 years ago

What a cool ring, and a cool outfit. Perfect.

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

    The ring is silver, yes.

It comes from this shop: http://metaldesignreykjavik.is

Beautiful all around! You take tomboy to the next level.

  • Dianna replied 6 years ago

Very lovely summer outfit. The ring has an interesting design. You are soo stylish no matter what you wear.

Suz -- You look so happy, healthy, and fabulous.  Welcome back.  We missed you during your absence.

  • kellygirl replied 6 years ago

    Gorgeous! Love the kimono here.

This is a great look, very put together without looking like you went to a lot of effort. I also love that Minkoff bag.

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

    Killer

    (How is this Tomboy?)

LOVE the new ring, Suz. Perfect for you. Sooo glad you got that bag in cream.

  • rachylou replied 6 years ago

    Exactly what Angie said.

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

I guess it is not very Tomboy, Angie -- just the concept is similar -- a tee (true, mine is a refined shell); a pair of jeans (that's Tomboy, right?), a silky topper (but yes, a kimono reads so much more feminine than a bomber, I agree...) and some footwear...my short hair adds a bit of Tomboy, too, I guess. But you are right. It's actually just summer casual. :)

I love the ring. It has a lovely heft to it.

The bag is actually a slightly different one. I could not get the same version in cream (waited too long and it was sold out) so I haunted Ebay for this one, which is a bit smaller. I don't love it as much because the leather is not quite as supple. But it is super useful and will serve me very well for now.

  • Angie replied 6 years ago

Skinny jeans are very girly. BF jeans are Tomboy. *smiling*

I'll give you that short hair is Tomboy!

I'm going with Elegant Smart Casual. LOVE THIS ON YOU.

  • Joy replied 6 years ago

More love for this outfit on you and for your new ring. It looks like it really catches the light for lots of sparkle.

  • Carole replied 6 years ago

Fantastic outfit, Suz! Perfect for any occasion and seems like a perfect substitute for a bomber! Pretty new gift to yourself:)

  • replied 6 years ago

Great ring! I like the heft and modern look. A very nice momento from Iceland.
The kimono is a nice floaty piece. Great for summer.

  • Lucy replied 6 years ago

You look great! I agree it doesn't read tomboy, but it does look fab.

And that ring is super. What a fabulous keepsake from your trip, something to treasure.

  • merwoman replied 6 years ago

Gorgeous Suz! I've just browsed the web site where you got your ring...how on earth did you restrain yourself to one piece?

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 6 years ago

Fantastic outfit, and the ring is awesome! That's a wonderful souvenir.

  • Mirjana replied 6 years ago

Fantastic look as always, kimono is beautiful and the ring too, you look fab.

  • Jaime replied 6 years ago

Fantastic outfit - kimono is perfect and the new ring is gorgeous. Not necessarily tomboy but tomwoman perhaps!

  • Sisi replied 6 years ago

Beautiful! You look fantastic in that kimono and you made yourself a nice gift with that ring !

  • Style Fan replied 6 years ago

Gorgeous ring Suz.  Great outfit and I love how you have put it together.  I did not realize that skinny jeans were girly.  Always learning.

  • Bijou replied 6 years ago

You look stunning. I love how Angie corrected the Tomboy - because you look so feminine! Your new ring is fabulous and a perfect way for you to remember your trip.

  • lozz_oz replied 6 years ago

You've given me inspiration with the kimono style top - I'm gathering from the link provided that it's not too overwhelming for your petite frame. I need to keep an eye out for something similar, as I've avoided the swamping effect of these types of tops on me.
Adore the ring - what a great treat + reminder of Iceland!

  • krishnidoux replied 6 years ago

You look so fab in this outfit Suz! It feels like it's totally you: playfull, witty, young, elegant, structured. And the ring is very unique. It suits your style perfectly. You did well to forgo the sweater in favor of this stunning accessory!

  • Brooklyn replied 6 years ago

Love the ring and you look wonderful.

  • Suz replied 6 years ago

Thank you all for the kind words and corrections! :)

I had a kimono from Zara a few years ago that I liked a great deal but it was too "sticky hot" for my summer climate without AC, and I didn't wear it (passed it first to Lyn and then she passed to Anne!) This one is a slightly different cut and some kind of bamboo blend, so I am more hopeful. It is on the verge of overwhelming, I think, and might be better if the pattern were a bit smaller, but I felt I could manage it if I kept the rest of the outfit simple.

  • texstyle replied 6 years ago

Looks great Suz - and it is very feminine to my eye.

  • skylurker replied 6 years ago

Oh, this is great on you. The floral silk gives a soft feminine touch to the classic denim look.

  • replied 6 years ago

I like this look on you a lot. Super striking ring too. I've been considering adding a kimono to my wardrobe if I can find one that's not too voluminous. I like the concept of a topper that's not too warm.

  • Sara L. replied 6 years ago

Great look!  I love the kimono on you.  The ring is great.  I frequently buy myself jewelry as trip mementos.  Jewelry is small and I don't get bored with it the way I do clothing.

  • Susie replied 6 years ago

I love every piece of this outfit and eapecially love it all together on you! That ring is fab; I love jewelry as a Souvenir from a special place.

  • replied 6 years ago

Love this!  I actually like the kimono better than a bomber, as it adds such nice fluidity and femininity . Nice price on the kimono too - I must take a look in the store tomorrow.  Your ring is outstanding - and a far better momento from your trip than a sweater would have been ;)

  • cindysmith replied 6 years ago

Great outfit, you look so good! And OMG I love that ring!

  • Elle replied 6 years ago

I love the print of the kimono on you.  Very elegant and fun at the same time.  Your ring is a wonderful momento.

  • lindalu replied 6 years ago

Love the ring and the kimono is fabulous too!!  Very "Tom-girl"? Lol

  • Sveta replied 6 years ago

This outfit looks great, Suz and not a bit overwhelming. Kimono is oversized but it is collapsing around the body in a such way that it is "just right". A very good look for you.
    The ring is striking!
