Travel Capsule

Here's my tentative travel capsule. Weather is all over the place -- it might be 30C and humid, might be 18 and raining, or 23 and breezy.

I'll be 4 days in the Toronto area visiting my brother and a friend there -- so some city stuff -- meals out -- but mostly just walking and talking.

The rest of the time (8 days) in the Kingston area, visiting friends, again, mostly casual. I also have to attend a memorial service while I am there. I don't really have the right footwear for that, but what I have will have to do.

I will add an umbrella, PJs, rain jacket, more jewellery to this. I *think* it's enough (esp. considering I can layer many of these items), but hope I'm not missing anything crucial.

I got a new pair of the Eileen Fisher sport sandals. I wore my old ones to bits and did not have a pair last year. I would have tried something different this year – I was particularly interested in a fisherman's sandal – but was not able to find anything of that type, in the end, and knew that these sandals in silver are quite versatile and bookending to my hair, so I went ahead and re-purchased. They are versatile, if not the most current, and maybe the little platform makes them a bit more current anyway.

The paint splash sleeveless top is new from Sandwich. I ordered a few items from them on sale and was quite pleased, especially with this little summer top.

OMG I need a haircut. Coming tomorrow!!

Well, it strikes me as a very cohesive and versatile capsule, Suz. You've got a variety of sleeve lengths and fabrications to choose from in tops -- and, as you say, excellent layering potential. A couple of great scarves for both warmth and interest - and pattern mixing with your tops. Great toppers. FWIW I really like those EF sandals.

I feel like silver shoes just do double duty for travel and can’t be beat.

It's a great capsule Suz - and very versatile!!

I still have my EF sports sandals - they are super comfortable - I wear them a lot with wide leg crops.

And if you are staying with friends you can always do a load of laundry along the way (I think I am weird in that I always do laundry whilst I am away.....)

I hope your soul is replenished seeing old friends.

Looks perfect Suz! Should be easy to mix and match all those pieces together. It looks like you’ll be ready for anything and I hope you have a great trip.

What an excellent collection of pieces ! I still have my pewter EF’s like yours and after not wearing them really at all for the last 2 summers ( and they came so close to the donate bag several times ) I’ve now worn them twice in 2 weeks and getting compliments both times . I saw them as somehow “ dated “ or not current - which I’m ashamed of now . Time has cured me of judging my clothes and shoes in that way . Your new silver ones are beautiful ! And I too love Sandwich - great top!

I think replacing your silver sandals was a good move - you know they work for you and they look great. Despite annual travel, I am actually very bad at analyzing travel capsules - I focus on shoes and special event needs and hope for the best. But, of course, I tend to thrift when I travel :) .

Suz, what a wonderful travel capsule!  I love the silver sandals and miss wearing sandals in general.  They are usually light weight and comfortable.  This year I added some slip on sneakers that are water shoes.  I hope they feel cool, but the weather is too cold yet to tell.

Looks very pretty, practical and cohesive.

I think the EFs look great. The crossover style is elegant and timeless, and the platform makes them current. I still have a black and white pair but I don’t wear them that often because they don’t fit my current palette (too graphic). But if I find a bronze pair on sale at the end of your summer, I may snap them up!

I think the silver sandals are still current, and look great. Love that red cardigan on you too. I'm not a big red person but it can be such a nice versatile accent color that I am tempted to try it.

KILLER cute look in #1! Sooooo Suz! My SIL loves Sandwich too :)

You were dead right to repeat those silver EF sandals. Absolutely current, hip, fun, comfy, and magical with your silver hair! I like the longer length of your pixie too.

An excellent capsule! Lots of bases covered. I'd bring a pair of boots for JUST in case, and you can wear them to the memorial service. I brought a pair of white boots on our recent South African trip, and was soooo glad I did.

Your red, white, and blue plus black pallet plus silver accessories is perfect for you.  It will feature your hair, eyes, skin and elegance.

Looks great Suz! I love how the new sandals complement the top in pic 2. No worries if they are an older style-DYOT!
( I’m still hankering after some 1960s-style winklepickers!)

Looks like you’re got a good variety of items for different types of weather. I really like that red sweater, and I’m thinking of ordering it for myself. How is the fit - does it run small or true to size?

  • Bijou replied 2 years ago

I'm glad Angie suggested booties, as I was thinking they would be the perfect addition. Your wardrobe is so cohesive and full of special pieces that work beautifully together. This is great inspiration for a travel capsule and I REALLY look forward to the opportunity to travel again soon. I have not been in a plane since 2019.

This is a really nice capsule.  I love your color scheme, stripes and butterfly scarf.
