Wearing oldies on repeat and after a break

I've had the first Comrags dress since 2017. It was expensive for me then, but wow, it has proved its worth and then some. It is still a summer favourite and I can't see retiring it any time soon. It barely wrinkles and dries in a flash. Besides, after all these years, handkerchief hems are enjoying another moment. :) Wore it last night and a woman shouted out at me: I love your dress!

The other one, from Zara, is on its 3rd year in the closet and still going strong. It is great for sun coverage! (Waving to Angie, my dress twin, and several forum members who are dress cousins on this one.)

The Eileen Fisher sandals are my second pair of the same style. I bought them when my first pair wore out -- maybe in 2020 or so? and then almost never wore the second pair -- to the point where I wondered if I had made a mistake in repurchasing. Suddenly, they are feeling fresher again to me and I am wearing them. Go figure!

I bought the little Ecco pot bag a few years ago, too, and then never used it. Why? I finally realized it was because it was too small for me to carry my usual case for my sunglasses. A new pair of sunglasses with a different case suddenly made it wearable!

And no, I was not on my bike with these outfits! First was out for a casual supper with Mr. Suz and second was for a morning appointment.

And look! I have found a better way to snap pictures -- at least as far as the light is concerned. The proportions are off because I have to stand close to the mirror, but at least the light is better. :)

Gorgeous! Really navy and white is just so good on you, it works so well with your eyes and hair, and gives you the crispness that's so signature. Although the silhouettes are different they both work beautifully!

*waving back at my dress twin*!

(I wore our dress into the ground in Greece).

    I echo, Helena

KILLER casual and very summery dresses, Suz! (Completely biased ;) ) Perfect outfits for hot weather! You look elegantly relaxed, pretty, and pulled together. Golden Oldie Fabness!

I bet you COULD bike in these with bike shorts under the frocks. They are less dressy and fussy.

Glad the Ecco Pot bag is getting some use!

And those sporty silver sandals are WORKHORSES.

A little red bag is a charming thing with a blue and white dress. Especially in hot weather!

Two excellent workhorse dresses! Yes, as you know I am a big fan of letting clothes sit back a while until they feel fresh again (or my accessories fit, as the case may be).

I'm loving the first dress. I didn't know that handkerchief hems are having a moment again. I am a fan. This is a wonderful example of an oldie but a goodie. You just needed a break from the sandals :).

Just gorgeous! The prints are so summery and pretty. I don’t think those will ever date! Great classic summer dresses. YLF!

Ha, Suz, I have always adored that Comrag dress of yours! You look fabulous with the red bag and the silver sandals. The second dress makes me feel warm just looking at it :) (still very hot here in Italy) but it is beautiful and serves its purpose well.
It's nice when something that you have bought and then questioned, all of a sudden starts working.

that Comrags dress is stunning on you, your oldies still look fresh and fabulous.

  • kkards replied 6 months ago

    The dresses are fabulous
and I hear you, sometimes I re buy a piece that wonder why, and then all of a sudden it’s back in my life like it never left.

Fab summer dress outfits, still serving you well through the years, but that Comrags dress is something special on you and boy, I love that dress too!!

  • RobinF replied 6 months ago

Great dresses! I love it when something proves its worth.:)

  • Carol replied 6 months ago

All great, but that first dress is really speaking to me. Such a vibrant pattern, and with that handkerchief hem, I too might shout out at you at a restaurant!

The Comrags dress is just so fabulous.

Rediscovering favorite items after a hiaitus is fun!

  • Suz replied 6 months ago

Thanks all. I post a photo of that Comrags dress every year and worry that I should just stop because it's a bore, but I think showing how we can keep wearing something we've owned and loved for a long time, something that transcends trends (but may -- in some years -- echo them!), something that fits our personal style perfectly -- is still a valid thing to do here.

  • Angie replied 6 months ago

NEVER A BORE. Banish the thought!

I like seeing repeats and old favourites! It’s a gorgeous dress on you and it looks very modern. I love the Zara dress too.

I have the EF sandals in black and white - I wore them so much in 2019 and 2020 - the last couple of summers I haven’t worn them much but I still have them. I am trying to decide whether to take them to Europe or not!!

  • JAileen replied 6 months ago

Both dresses look great!  I love the little bit of red thrown in, too.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 6 months ago

You are smashing in these dresses, Suz! Wow. The silver sandals and red bag are great with both of them.
I love when a wardrobe item comes back into favor. Especially if I've had the sense to hang onto it! LOL!

  • Mirjana replied 6 months ago

Both dresses look amazing on you. You styled them perfectly with the silver sandals and red bag. I adore no 1, yes, you are absolutely right, it has proved its worth.

  • cat2 replied 6 months ago

You have such a great eye for prints. My oldies but goodies this Summer are some Cole Haan champagne loafers that are so old they have a Nike Air insert, and a 2012 open work sweater from the Missoni outlet in Vegas. I had gone off the pointy toe of the loafers, and tucked the sweater away during drought years that were too hot for it. I am really glad I have enough space to store stuff until I am in the mood to wear it again.

That Comrags dress must be one of your best purchases . I love it so much on you ! I too have those EF sandals ( in pewter metallic ) and am glad I’ve hung on to them despite not wearing them much anymore . I almost passed them on 5-6 yrs ago ( which now makes me wonder how the heck old they really are !) but then didn’t , and for that I’m relieved . They are among the most comfortable sandals I own .

  • Lisa replied 5 months ago

You have two great summer dresses. They look lovely on you! It's wonderful that you have items in your wardrobe that have lasted year after year. That's very inspiring!

The red pot bag is adorable and adds such a nice pop of color against the white and blues. The silver sandals are so versatile, they pair so well with the dresses here, and your jorts, and cropped pants, they are wonderful workhorses. :)

Yess, bot dresses are looking fab on You, Suz-and the Comrags one  sounds like really a marvellous workhorse! I too own the Zara dress and  am sad to report I never wore it to date-go figure!!! I loved the navy and white wallpaper pattern sooo much (and have other 2 lookalike long sleeve Zara dresses in black&white geometric/etnic pattern from that year)  but they all feel too much on my body size and we just don't have the weather, the venue or the occasions(??) for a long sleeved crisp dress...(sobbing:-() still I cannot part with them and hope for possible future occasions!:-))

I love the Comrags dress SO MUCH. I like those hemlines whether they are in style or not. And the red bag looks great with it! But I too am hot just looking at you in the other one, haha.

If that is a single Slinky-like bracelet on the wrist with your watch and not a stack of individual silver bangles, then I own its twin!
