White Leather Jacket: It's all Inge's fault! :-)

So...the Danier white leather jacket went on sale and I bought it. Here are a few experimental stylings, a bit rushed and incomplete to some extent - I was pressed for time. The pics are not great quality. I have the tripod set up, but it's not always focusing in terribly well and I have not yet figured out my posing. To say the least.

It's washed leather, so a bit wrinkly-looking. Not as smooth and soft or luxe-feeling as my other Danier jacket, but not bad.

Sleeves on the long side, but I decided not to alter now. I can turn them back with the zipper feature, and even left as is they are not TOO long (I think). Some pics show a sleeve rolled all the way down.

Pics are out of order somehow to my actual posing, but I will try to figure out what's going on:

#1: with taupe silk top and booties and white jeans. As you can see - jacket is not optic white but a soft, slightly cool white. Can I wear with optic white?

#3 with striped sweater - playing with footwear options here and next.

#4/5 denim shirt - did not have belt on yet in #5 but it was natural light (no flash) so I wanted to include it for the colour.

Various views for the rest. The jacket can be worn with the collar up or "trained" to form a V more like a blazer, e.g. #13.

#12 closed.

I also have a few others to show later.

Now I need to decide whether to bring this jacket or the taupe on on my trip. Horrible problem to have, I know. Inge, I blame you. :-)

Wow, this looks great! I love it with optic white--to me mixing whites says you're confident and stylish!

I just ordered an inexpensive "ivory" faux leather one that I think might be closer to light tan--we'll see!

  • kellygirl replied 11 years ago

I have to say it looks amazing on my phone! I actually really like the soft white with the optic--it looks very luxe to me. I want to see this on my laptop but that will have to wait til tomorrow. Love the pettys with it and the black footwear too. Such a gorgeous jacket on you, suz! Is altering an option at some point? I worry that the sleeves might get dirty if left long. Excuse typos--not very good on my phone.

  • Caro in Oz replied 11 years ago

I really love this - it works so well with all these options, I think it will be a real workhorse. How does anyone live without jackets:)

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Thank you! And yes, Kelly - i can alter the sleeves later if I wish. It takes two weeks and since I didn't know if I would want it on my trip I decided to bring it home and leave for now. I would probably wear them rolled back anyway most of the time, but you make a good point.

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Hah, Caro -- that's what neither one of us has figured out, for our respective summers!!

I am glad you like it. I think it MAY be a workhorse...the only issue is that we associate white with summer and...well....this will be lots too warm to wear in my summer! But I'll certainly be able to wear it in the spring.

  • CocoLion replied 11 years ago

Love it on you. Great fit I think. Will they allow you to delay the sleeve alteration until after your trip?

  • Beth Ann replied 11 years ago

Suz -- what is "washed leather?" I'm a leather newbie.

I adore it in #11. I'd just make sure that you would wear it across seasons to make it worth your while.

    Now, which one to pack.............I

  • replied 11 years ago

Oh thank you to Inge for alerting you to this fab jacket! I love this shade of white next to your face. It's perfect! Great stylings here Suz. I guess if I had to choose which to take on the trip, I'd go for the taupe one because it won't show grime and you're already comfortable with all of the different ways to wear it. This white one is certainly a show-stopper by nature of the color, though! So crisp looking with the stripes and blue shirt. *swoon*

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

I have no idea what washed leather is. But that's what they call it! I guess...I guess they must wash it first?? You know....like washed silk?

And yes, Beth Ann...will I wear it enough. I guess if I wear it in winter I will wear it enough. But will I?

Truth be told, at this price point it is not so bad if I don't.

Denise, thank you. And yes - I can get it altered whenever I like. I just take it back to Danier and they will do it.

  • jenanded replied 11 years ago

4, 6, 9, 13 blow me away... what a great jacket! I know your trip is coming up soon but perhaps taupe is more serviceable for travelling...

  • Tina replied 11 years ago

This is a winner for sure. I'm surprised at how much I'm loving all the black with white options. I wouldn't have known a white leather jacket would look this good with black, I think it may be that it is a softer white. I really like the last look as well. I'm going to vote take this one with you, it is such a find:-)

  • Ingunn replied 11 years ago

Gorgeous! Now I want a white leather jacket for a statement piece:) I think the fit is perfect, possibly with some alterations of the sleeves. I love the various whites you've put together. You look stunning with stripes, and with the scarf, Suz! My favorites are #3 and #13.

  • Mona replied 11 years ago

Suz, I cannot stand all the fabulousness this jacket brings. I love, love, love #3,9,12, and 13. In one of her blog posts, I think Angie talked about how it is okay to mix different hues of white. I am sure this will be a workhorse in your wardrobe. I am also amazed at how well you wear this neckline with your short hair and lovely long neck.

  • replied 11 years ago

Looks good Suz! I think which jacket depends on the rest of your capsule! This one is a little sportier vs the more blazer style of the other.

  • Inge replied 11 years ago

Hurrah, you got the jacket!! And I'm not even going to pretend I'm sorry... Yep, it's all my fault, and I'll gladly take the blame;-)

*Happy sigh*, it's absolutely stunning on you, Suz. The fit is marvelous, the style looks gorgeous on you, and the colour is beautiful as well. I agree, mixing whites can be very chic. And if it helps at all: I absolutely intend to wear mine year round, I love a leather jacket with Winter outfits (from head-to-toe Winter white ensembles to pairing it with ink blue, taupe, dark aubergine, purples...).

Your taupe leather jacket is fab too, of course, but you went to all this trouble to get the white jacket before your London trip, so a little voice inside tells me you would love to take the new purchase along?-)

    Enjoy the jacket!!!

  • Raisin replied 11 years ago

It really does fit your wardrobe perfectly Suz, so don't feel too guilty :) Now you have so many fab B&W outfits, which is right on trend. I love it on you!

  • catherine replied 11 years ago

The jacket looks beautiful on you. I have no advice, but may I also say that your white jeans are quite lovely, too? The fit is just perfect.

  • Astrid replied 11 years ago

It looks wonderful on you! I also think you can wear white year round, so no worries. And you look fab in all of the outfits above. I think my favourite is #11 - the simple dress is the perfect backdrop for the jacket and I love the light booties with it. I'd definitely shorten the sleeves in the long run though.

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Thank you Astrid - looks like the consensus is to shorten those sleeves. It is definitely do-able.

Catherine, thanks - from the leather jacket queen this means a lot! The jeans are Kut from the Kloth Diana.

Raisin, thanks! A lot of these outfits are actually blue -- it just doesn't show in the pics. The striped sweater is navy. The dress is navy.

Inge, thank you! You brought me to a new favourite! Did you get your jacket yet? Can't wait to see if it works for you. And yes, I am tempted to take it, although it depends a bit on the forecast. I am keeping a close watch.

Ceit, good point - this jacket is sportier, although with the collar turned back it's a bit less so. It seems quite versatile.

Mona, the neckline does seem to work okay, doesn't it? It worked for Sveta, too, whereas she had tried a very similar jacket last year and it did not. Puzzling.

Claire, thank you so much - you are so generous!

  • Kalli replied 11 years ago

I love this jacket! I was oogling it on the Daniel website but here in the US we can't get it!
Washed leather I believe is the type of treatment they apply to the leather to roughen it up. This is such a great addition to your closet and I am a big fan of white going with almost everything! I think since it's new you should bring it! My favorites of how you styled it are in 9 and 13, however you look amazing in all of them! Lots of applause here :)!

  • Debora replied 11 years ago

Suz, this is just gorgeous and so versatile! I agree with shortening the sleeves. It looks great in every variation. You must be getting so excited about your London trip!

  • replied 11 years ago

It is beautiful Suz. I am blown away by 9 and 13.
    Umm, why just bring both?

  • texstyle replied 11 years ago

LOVE this jacket on you Suz - and I love the neckline too, or maybe especially! It looks so fresh and fun with all those combinations - may favorite would be ALL of them.

  • Isis replied 11 years ago

Great jacket, Suz! This is going to be a workhorse!

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

    KILLER

You were meant to have this jacket, Suz! I hope it will be a workhorse for you as mine is for me :)

I can't wait for Inge, Mona and Sveta to get theres!

  • sarah replied 11 years ago

wow, Suz, that jacket is so perfect for you, I can't stand it. The fit is incredible.

  • Janet replied 11 years ago

It looks great on you in all of these!

I hear you on the quandary about which jacket to take on your trip, they both seem so versatile. Both? ;-)

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Both, I know, I know....I don't think I can really justify bringing them both, but I am going to be like Zap and pay attention to the weather. If it is sunny I will want to wear the white. If it is going to be more dark, I will probably prefer the taupe. These outfits are all identical to ones I tried with the taupe jacket; I wanted to compare. I think they work equally well, except I probably wouldn't want dark hose when I am wearing the white jacket. So I need to find some lighter hose options.

Thank you for the ocmpliments, and Angie, I too, look forward to seeing Mona, Sveta, and Inge in their versions!

It is funny. I thought I might feel a bit "precious" in the white, but weirdly, it doesn't feel as if it is going to attract dirt. I might be deluding myself on that score. I guess we will see.

Thank you, again! Glad it meets YLF approval!

  • Angie replied 11 years ago

Bring the taupe jacket on your trip.

  • Tina.b replied 11 years ago

Suz, I could not imagine a more perfect addition to your wardrobe! It is very luxe and sophisticated. This will be a piece to take you through the entire year. For London I vote taupe due to the dirt factor.

  • Mochi replied 11 years ago

I agree with Angie that taupe somehow seems more flexible and versatile to me. That said, this is a spiffy, fun jacket that fits you beautifully. You will get plenty of use out of it. I do (personal opinion) have this thing about wearing whites together when they're not quite the same, ie your jacket and jeans being different shades of white). In my case I would be keeping the jacket for a contrasting color, of which there are many (in other words, everything that's not white :)

  • Vicki replied 11 years ago

Suz, I love your jacket and Inge's inspiration. So gorgeous and makes me want to retire my pleather white for leather white, because I love the cut. 4 with the SE boots, 10 and 12 are so fantastic. Tough call on which one to take. I vote both!!

  • krishnidoux replied 11 years ago

Wow! What a great purchase, Suz! It fits you like a glove, and you look fantastic in it.
I prefer it against another colour to really get all its chic, esp. in 9 (my favourite!), 11, 12 and 13, these looks are fabulous, and so you too.

I find that on my screen, the jacket looks like a slightly different shade of white and to me, the colour difference make the jacket look a bit dirty... when it's not... sorry for bringing that up...

But I can see you wearing it with so many other items in your wardrobe! And you wouldn't want a whiter jacket, this shade is so flattering to you, and would bring out the beauty of so many items. like in 9.

    Congratulations!

  • Transcona Shannon replied 11 years ago

Late to the party but my goodness Suz - this is just STUNNING on you. A fabulous piece to add to your wardrobe.

I think for your trip though the taupe will be more versatile.

  • pil replied 11 years ago

This is eye-poppingly fabulous, Suz! Guess I'm into high contrast as 9, 11 and 13 really jump out for me.

  • rae replied 11 years ago

Gorgeous! Can't wait to go home and view properly. Ylf in white!

  • Nicole D replied 11 years ago

Just beautiful! I liked the looks more as they went along, 9, 10, 11, 12! I guess I prefer the contrast also, but the looks in 1,2,3,4 are more casual, and still very nice. The jacket adds structure, polish, flair (to use a corny adjective). Good purchase! I'm sure you will be thanking Inge over and over again!

  • Thistle replied 11 years ago

PERFECT jacket for you. I am so glad Inge enabled!!

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Stunning! Perfect fit (with the sleeves being pushed up or rolled or eventually shortened)! I only skimmed the answers but I am going to buck practicality and say take this with you to London!

  • Jamie replied 11 years ago

Wow, just wow! You look so chic in this jacket. Put me on the list to hunt for a leather jacket such as this. I'd love to have one in winter white!

  • Susie replied 11 years ago

What a great jacket for you, Suz! It looks great on you and you've styled it so well. I bet this will be one of those pieces that you really wear often but won't tire of after a season or two.

    Enjoy!!

  • Day Vies replied 11 years ago

You had lots of fun with this new jacket. I just have to say this is super effing cute! I really need to get a new leather jacket. I wanna be like the cool kids ;-)

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago
