WIMW: Schoolboy slouch

Lo -- the sun has come out. So I can wear my Petty booties.

I am feeling a bit better.

Here's my proposed outfit. I see the collar needs some adjustment. I will also have a bag, WATER (thank you, Gaylene!) and my coat, of course. But the coat will come off and the bag will go down.

Thoughts, critiques, suggestions welcome!

ETA: I don't know why it is so dark. Hmm. Anyway, sweater vest is a sort of blue-grey like the stripes in the shirt. I also seem to have cut my head and feet off, but you get the idea.

I love it -- I think it's the right level of polish and snazz. You also get points for figuring out how to work cozy into such a polished look.

This slouchy trouser look is well done. It's hard to mess with perfection :).

Must read previous threads on Gaylene's "water" and what you're about to do, but wanted to say that you look completely put together and I love the vest touch, and, of course, as bootie and now belt twins, I am inspired Prince Suz. ETA: You are a trouper to have the flu and still make it out in the freezing cold to meet your speaking obligation. I think this outfit is just perfect for that little extra something. Hope you feel better soon!

Suz, you have sold me on a sweater vest, and let me tell you how I have resisted. It looks just fantastic on you! You look so tall in the dark colour, and the pattern mixing in the accents adds that perfect mix of creativity. You have such a talent for composing an outfit that is perfectly you, love to see your WIWs!

This outfit reminds me of the vest version of Angie's "unstructured structured" outfit - fabulous on you Suz! Glad you're on the mend and good luck!

Perfect! I am going to call this a look of "polished, semi-structured ease."

I'm relieved to hear you are feeling a little better today, Suz. This outfit is absolutely stunning. Perfect for today's event! Good luck and let us know how it went?

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Thank you for all the kind words, all!!

The event went really well. They were a terrific group of students and I felt appropriately garbed for the occasion and comfortable -- except the room was FREEZING. The teacher told me that some weeks it's like that (and she cannot control it) while other weeks, it is broiling hot. I really wished I had brought a huge blanket to wrap myself in -- not for the outdoors, but for inside!

I was HUGELY grateful for my water (thank you again, Gaylene!).

This is indeed a sweater vest, purchased at the same time as the slouchy trousers and a few other items in Vancouver when I was there, just after I bid goodbye to Ariadne. (We had a lunch and shopping expedition together - mini YLF meet up, back in October.)

The sweater vest, of course, appealed to the UP in me. I have worn it fairly often in fact, but not always for the camera!

I'd say you nailed that professional, yet approachable, look with this outfit, Suz. And I'm glad that you had a good time; being in a classroom with a group of receptive students is such fun, isn't it?
