WIW: Casual light grey & white

I wanted to wear white jeans...but it has been snowing all morning. Sun has come out now and we are bound to get slush. Meeting some colleagues for lunch downtown and doing errands. I hope it works to layer with the Equipment sweater. I wasn't sure but went with it anyway.

ETA: the shirt is an older Brooks Brothers that Clearly Claire thrifted and then passed on to me. It has a pointed collar on the longer side...makes me think of 70s, almost! The fabric is soft brushed herringbone cotton; it is a terrific winter shirt.

Well I think this works and it looks lovely.  I love the length of the boots and feel they add a little edge to the look.  Have a lovely lunch.  You look gorgeous.

You look amazing in gray Suz! Just about to post my version :) Love the outerwear!

  • rachylou replied 9 years ago

Well I heart all those pieces... ;)

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Every time I see that coat or that patterned pullover, there is drool on the iPad screen. Have a great lunch.

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Greys love you Suz! I have to agree with Joy on the sweater and the coat - both were great purchases for you.
I wore my white jeans yesterday - snow be damned! I tucked them into my tall black flat boots and it worked well - jeans remained clean and bright all day even with commuting to work by bus and walking many blocks of not-too-well plowed streets.

  • Mona replied 9 years ago

you do grey so well! The equipment sweater looks great with the hint of white at the collar and sleeves. Like Sveta, I have been wearing my cream jeans tucked into snow boots frequently and have been very happy.

Suz, you look lovely. I really love the black and white accents. And you totally own that sweater.

I love this!  The patterned top looks great with the jeans and white shirt.  Great coat too!  You look very cozy in your hat and gloves.

You weren't sure???? I'm glad you went with it anyway-as it looks PERFECT! Love the layering, that sweater, and the coat are show stopping  in  a great polished but still casual way. Love the  white accents for winter!:-)

    Killer Perfect.

Love the coat. It ups the "modern" quotient for this look.

  • replied 9 years ago

    You look adorable.

  • carter replied 9 years ago

I love this! It will also be great with the white jeans and a chambray or light blue shirt underneath the fab sweater.

  • Beth Ann replied 9 years ago

I hoped you would take your cue from the outfit post!

Love how versatile this sweater has been for you.  I think the high collar of the shirt complements the feels of the sweater, and the jeans and subdued palette keep is casual and modern.

I almost always love grey on blondes.  Wish I could wear it that well!

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

I love lighter shades of gray, I think they are great on blondes.  Sorry the weather didn't allow for white jeans, I wore that combination on the cruise on cooler days and felt very fresh in that color scheme.  It worked particularly well at sea, as the crew kept the ship super clean.  It's been a struggle to get myself to wear white bottoms on the ranch though.  Dust, animals (to add to the dogs, cat and horses we have new cows now!  will post pics soon), dirt, mud, stickers and me, who is not the world's most fastidious house cleaner.  Is there a point where you just give in to the dirt and give up?  I'm sure I reached that point years ago.

    Looks fantastic to me!

I always love your grey coat Suz, such a great essential for you!

I'm late to get to this, and it's all been said already. Practical outfit and lovely flattering colours.

The pointy shirt collar is a great detail (and provides a hint of formality for your meeting, perhaps?).  And are you wearing a pin or small brooch at the top button?

  • Summer replied 9 years ago

I love the colour of your coat, Suz, it's very flattering on you.

  • Ruth M replied 9 years ago

Sorry, Suz, I read too quickly - "meeting for lunch", not attending a meeting. Of course the collar looks great for all sorts of possible occasions :)

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Thanks, all. Ruth, it was actually a sort of blend between social and business, so you weren't far off and I was conscious of wanting to look a bit crisp. And that is a small brooch at the collar -- my MIL's silver brooch. The outfit worked well for the purpose and I was comfy. So that was good.

  • Lisa replied 9 years ago

Oh look at that gorgeous grey coat!  And how fun are you to pair with with white gloves and hat.

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Looks great! I love the prints on that Equipment sweater. I've got to get to Gap to check out those gray jeans. That coat is the perfect topper.

We're getting the snow next. Starts tomorrow, doesn't end until Monday :(

  • ElleH replied 9 years ago

Suzi it is great with the grey jeans. I wanted to try white ones too but couldn't wear them to work today. I think it looks so fab with the white beanie, gloves & scarf! Great rendition.

  • amiable replied 9 years ago

Wow!  Stunning.  I have serious coat envy.

  • Day Vies replied 9 years ago

I love the sweater in #1 especially with the crisp collar and cuffs peeking out. I am so jealous about that coat in #2. AH! I love an envelope collar and it looks so modern yet playful with the striped scarf and white cold weather accessories.

Late in reading and commenting - the forum has so much on it these days and every time I log in to take a look, the last thing I wanted to read again is already on another page - :)  Anyways - that shirt is interesting, and I really like how the collar lifts this look from sweater/jeans to something different.  You know I love the sweater ( I think I say that every time you post it) - so it's not that it isn't interesting in itself, if you know what I mean.....lol

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous, Suz! I am really liking the gray on gray here. Gray jeans are even better than white here, to my eye.

  • Jjsloane replied 9 years ago

gorgeous gorgeous. I especially love you in the hat and gloves (mittens?). You captured it perfectly and I think the layering definitely works with this blouse and the equipment sweater.

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Love the collar, the mid length boots and the coat! To name a few!

  • Sharon replied 9 years ago

This is so pretty! The greys and blues are beautiful on you. They give a very feminine, polished look to an outfit that I'm sure is very practical for a winter day. That coat is fabulous! So cute with the beanie and mittens.

  • Tanya replied 9 years ago

I am also very late to comment here, but had because it is such an amazing outfit.  Then colors are very flattering and that coat is a beauty.

  • Vicki replied 9 years ago

Meant to post something earlier and finally getting around to it.  These are great colors on you and if you have any blues about overcast grey skies, you simply make winter days look spectacular, Suz, and Claire's shirt is a nice find.  I wish I could do grey as well as you and some of the other fabbers.

  • Laurie replied 9 years ago
