WIW: Date Night!

Mr. Suz got his second shot! To celebrate, we went out for dinner for the first time in about a year. BC is slowly reopening. Yippee!

It felt amazing to put on REAL CLOTHES for a change and to be out in the world!! Social distancing and masking remain in effect because it will be some weeks before most of us are double vaxxed. The rollout feels slow compared to elsewhere,  but on the positive side, it is very organized, everyone is super kind, and uptake across the province is extremely high.

Nothing new and nothing fancy here, but I did get a compliment from a complete stranger on the dress. :)

Said dress is several years old from NAS (waving to Angie, my dress twin).
The jacket is a consignment find from Paul Smith -- I love it so much.
Bag is Rebecca Minkoff, aged to a fine patina, LOL.
Shoes are Earth or some comfort brand. They went the distance; I walked a ways in them.
Earrings are from Comrags, by a Coast Salish artist, and part of the proceeds benefit an Indigenous resurgence fund.

I got my hair cut last week. This is my second cut with this stylist. He went shorter this time and more textured. With the right product I can get it to stand up in some fun ways. I think it will be good for summer.

Bonus shots of Victoria Harbour, which was beautiful and quiet tonight.

Yay for a night out!!! !

You look gorgeous Suz - the perfect dress for this happy night.  I love the earrings too.

Our vaccine roll out here is slow too....my Dad has had two shots, I will be sometime between July and the end of the year.  I am fine with this because other places need it more than us, and there is a global supply issue.

Congrats on getting outside. You look well put together as always. One of your best dresses.

    Is the BC move permanent?

Also I read “double vaxxed” as “double waxxed” and I instinctively crossed my legs

You look gorgeous - love the shorter haircut! Fab look with earrings and some heels! How nice to be out and about looking all dressed up.
I'm fully vaccinated with my daughter receiving her first shot last week - waiting for the celebration in the end of the month :) .

Suz, you look beautiful and so glad that you got to dress up and go out. I really love how you style your pieces, the scrunch of your sleeves on the blazer (showing the white lining) and the way you have popped up the collar of your dress. Your hair looks wonderful and really shows off those beautiful earrings. I am not surprised you were complimented by a stranger at all.

  • Janet replied 2 years ago

Yay! So glad you are getting out too! I was concerned about how quickly things have reopened here, but it’s rapidly become mask-optional in most places, and we have been fully vaxxed for over a month, so I figure it’s as safe as it can be for now!

I adore that dress on you — it’s one of my favorites — and those earrings are wonderful too. Cute hair! YLF!

Marvellous! You look beautiful. So glad things are opening up again.

  • Joy replied 2 years ago

You certainly have not forgotten how to dress up. You look lovely and your haircut will be perfect for summer. Is it easy to style? Congratulations to Mr Suz on the second vax. Things are moving slowly here. Many places are not open yet because of a lack of help. Most still require masks and social distsncing and people are masked up yet. Monday has become the new Sunday with most places closed. Hours need to be checked as opening late and closing early is common.

Those earrings look amazing with your hair. And beautiful locale shots.

  • carambola replied 2 years ago

You look gorgeous and happy! Great hair, great earrings, great dress.

  • Jaime replied 2 years ago

Haircut is super chic and that dress is beautiful on you! Glad you are finally able to get out and hope things proceed apace :) .

  • Angie replied 2 years ago

    KILLER ALL ROUND.

You look beautiful! Gorgeous haircut! The layered blazer works so well, and great match with the sandals! Waving back at my dress twin. One or my faves :)

Woohoooo for jab #2!! A GREAT relief. You are next, and hope it’s soon.

I know that view well. Victoria is very pretty. Lots to look forward to!

  • JAileen replied 2 years ago

Gorgeous!  You, your outfit, and the view!  I especially love the earrings.

So pretty, and classic-  Suz :)  I love, love, love those earrings too .  Congrats on everyone being vaccinated at your house - we're getting there here.  I'm   due for my second shot at the end of the month. We had our first social outing this past weekend, (drinks and dinner on a friends' patio ) and it felt absolutely ODD to put on lipstick for the first time in over a year.  I had no idea what to wear, and fumbled badly with my choice.  I'm so out of practice .

Fabulous outfit, so elegant! Happy that you are able to enjoy a night out!

I’m so ready to get a haircut, not yet possible here.

  • rachylou replied 2 years ago

Knock ‘em dead, Suz! Wow. I need to copycat this :D

  • Mirjana replied 2 years ago

Wow, Suz, so glad that you got to dress up and to go out. How small things make life nice, sometimes we don't think about that. Fabolous outfit, so elegant for that beautiful night.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 2 years ago

Super fab, Suz! This is a beautiful and serene outfit. You match your surroundings on the water.

  • Suz replied 2 years ago

Thanks, everyone. It felt so amazing to go out again! We actually dined outside (in a sort of partly covered, heated patio with glass partitions between tables) so it all felt very safe despite the fact that the place was PACKED. It helps that cases are way way down on the Island and vaccine uptake the highest in BC. There are a lot of old people here, LOL. We want those shots and happily line up for them!

Irina, I find the Ontario rules on salons so peculiar. We've actually had salons open almost through the whole pandemic (except the first 6 or 8 weeks). They have strict guidelines and everyone needs to be masked, which makes it a bit tricky at times, but overall the experience has been fine and I have felt confident. It helps that I go to a place with only one chair now! And even my Vancouver salon limited themselves to two chairs.

Lisa, YAY!! It sounds like you might get shot 2 before I get shot 2. Technically, I should get called by the end of the month to book, but they said the wait can be three weeks from call time. Friends in Ontario are mostly double vaxxed now, so I'm biting the bit, but I also know they've had to hustle to get shots and shop around, whereas I just patiently wait for an email notice. I guess there are advantages to both systems.

Also, totally with you on how weird it felt to get "dressed up." I put on lipstick but then had to mask up in the restaurant common spaces. Oh well!

Jaileen, aren't the earrings fun? They are a sort of mirrored resin. Light as air.

Angie, thank you. SO glad I got this dress. It really is a lovely and classic item. I owe it to you because you recommended it!!

Shevia, thank you! We're still way behind Israel but getting closer to fine...

    Carambola, Jenna - thank you.

Joy, it sounds a bit frustrating for you there. Many places are still on more limited hours here, also, with a lot of restaurants closed early in the week. We were lucky to find this one open (and reserved, of course.)

    Brooklyn, thanks!

Janet, yes -- it definitely feels weird to venture out. We still wear masks downtown. I haven't worn a mask in my suburb through the entire pandemic (unless workpeople came into the house) and technically, we don't have to mask up outdoors if we can distance, but downtown I usually do.

Bijou, thank you! You are so sweet. And here's something funny -- I actually thought of YOU when the young woman complimented me! She didn't look like you or dress like you at all. In fact, she was wearing jeans. But I got a sense that she loved the dress because of its femininity and I always associate you with feminine looks, so I almost felt like I was channelling Bijou in wearing it! :) In other words, that compliment was for you as well as me.

slim cat, that's so great! My kid got the first shot last week, too! We are so relieved.

BJ1111, I laughed out loud at the double waxed. OUCH. And yes, the BC move is permanent (or at least as permanent as these things go.)

Sal, thank you! And good to know the rollout is happening there!

It feels (and looks) like we are all caterpillars morphing into butterflies as we slowly emerge from a year and a half of activity restrictions.  We will celebrate!

You look perfect for the occasion and are shirt dress inspiration.  ;-)  I’ve loved those Earth sandals ever since you got them.  Hope the meal was scrumptious!

  • MsMary replied 2 years ago

Wowzers, you look amazing!! I love those shoes! And blue is definitely your color!

  • Laurie replied 2 years ago

Your outfit reflects the whites and blues in the beautiful shots of the harbor - did you notice?
Beautiful outfit, happy smile. So glad you/we are starting to emerge.

  • replied 2 years ago

You look gorgeous! Isn’t it so strange to go out for our previously-normal activities? Good but still feels odd. I’ve been seeing Warren Steven Scott’s earrings everywhere and you’ve convinced me that I need some.

  • Suz replied 2 years ago

Gillian - I just found out he now has his own website and a collection! Really interesting!. https://warrenstevenscott.com/collections/no-1

I got my earrings a year and a half ago and got them at Comrags, where they were then selling them. They still have a few of his items there. https://www.comrags.com/collections/accessories

Thank you, Laurie. It's a good feeling, for sure!

Carla, thank you, and the meal was FAB!!! Lots of fish.

    Aww, Ms. Mary. Thanks!

Firecracker, you are right! I matched the day.

Mirjana, Rachy -- thank you. Rachy, you would put your own amazing twist on it and it would be way less conventional and 100 times more interesting than my outfit, but a shirtdress is a great thing!

  • replied 2 years ago

Ooh, now you’ve mentioned the earrings are resin, I like them all the more!

  • Jonesy replied 2 years ago

Super-duper gorgeous! Yay for date night and getting fully vaccinated!! Love everything from head to toe, including your fab new haircut and your walkable-yet-chic sandals! I share your love for that jacket, and it works perfectly with your navy shirtdress. The scenic pictures are beautiful, serene, and eye-catching--your attire seamlessly fits in to the landscape!

  • catherine replied 2 years ago

    Yay! You look lovely.

  • cat2 replied 2 years ago

How fun! We are doing our first Frock and Heels dinner later this month. I dug out some pewter kitten heels to wear, wish me luck!

  • lyn67 replied 2 years ago

Love that dress, and your silver new cut is your best accessory!!! I say killer!

  • Staysfit replied 2 years ago

Hooray for date night!  Your outfit looks fab!  I think your earrings make a perfect statement item paired with everything here.  Your shorter haircut looks great and somehow adds zestful energy to your overall look.
