WIW: Gingham & white with earthy accents

When I made my comment in response to this morning's blog about not owning a summer-worthy gingham top, apparently I hadn't had any coffee. ;)

Of course I have a gingham top! Sheesh! I love it! I now own 3 of these Thomas Mason J. Crew shirts and I adore them.

Thanks for the inspiration, Angie. I am wearing this outfit to a celebratory family supper. It has been a week of communications snafus, lost cash, many, many little annoyances (including ongoing arguments with Zara about my never-delivered order) and too, too many details. (Ever have those weeks?)

But -- on a happy note: My DD is one of two finalists in her age group in the Kingston WritersFest contest!! Judging was blind, by strangers who do not know me or her or our connection. So there was absolutely no nepotism involved. It is all on her own merit. She did not ask me for any help until she was ready to submit -- at which point I did a final check for her spelling and we brainstormed a bit about a title. I am so excited for her!! :)

Yes, I call that gingham, lol. And that is so exciting about your daughter.

Perfect rendition! Have you worn this combo before?

    Congrats to your daughter!

    Looks great Suz!

Carter, I wore a similar outfit but with cranberry booties and a different belt in the fall. It was too cool then for the open Okalas. It's fun to get a chance to wear those.

Great rendition Suz, especially fun with the shoes.  Congrats to your daughter!

Excellent interpretation, and what great news for your daughter!

Ah, you must be so proud of your daughter to have made it to the finals in her category. And, being a writer yourself, you KNOW what goes into this kind of achievement, so that must make her success even sweeter for both of you.

Oh, and by the way, your outfit also looks great. I've such a soft spot for gingham in the summer, especially when paired with white. Your version is a perfect example of a crisp, modern way to wear gingham that is miles away from its more common country/western cousin.

Congratulations to your daughter! Few people can make gingham look glamorous. You just did. Isn't Angie so right about using the Okalas?

You look so adorable in your gingham shirt with the earthy accessories and what a great week it was for your DD, who has established herself as a fine young writer.  How lucky she is to have an in-home editor to call upon.

About your week, sorry to hear about your difficult one, and I know what you mean (I have to go to small claims court after a tailor chopped off five inches of my GAP jeans when they only went in for a new zipper.  It's not the cost as much as it is the justice and hoping she won't do this to another customer) and hopefully you'll have smooth sailing from now on and fewer annoyances.  Don't give up with Zara and keep at it until you get some satisfaction.

    Looking good, Suz.

So happy for your daughter. That's an extra dose of maternal joy!

Suz, you must be so proud. Congrats to DD being a finalist.
Your gingham looks lovely. Love the Okalas.

Suz the gingham looks so fresh. The little row of buttons in white really add something. Cute with those shoes. That's great about your daughter getting noticed for her writing. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree as they say.

Cute look Suz!  And yay for Maia!! I love it when things like that happen - puts all the crap of the week behind you .  Have a great weekend!

Congrats to DD! You look ready to conquer anything!

First of all, congratulations to your daughter! How wonderful!

I love that you paired the gingham top with the Okala pumps. Very fun. Do you recommend the Diana skinnies, and do they run true to size?

Great look.  I love those shoes.

This outfit is perfection in you Suz - love the pattern mixing between the gingham and animal print.

And WOW - huge congrats to DD!

Fabulous outfit, Suz! You have the pony Okalas to pull off an Angie copycat! Nicely done.
Congratulations to your daughter--what an achievement!

Thank you all! We had a fun supper and DD is on top of the world. Now to buy her an outfit for the gala in September. Oh, and did I say that she does NOT DO DRESSES? We will be suit shopping...

Karie, I LOVE my Diana skinnies. They were one of my very first YLF approved purchases and Angie picks. That would be four years ago -- and as you see, they are still going strong. No signs of wearing out -- and I have worn them a lot. They do stretch out a bit. At the moment that is a good thing for me, since I'm up a few pounds. But even when they stretch, the fit is good. They are not calf-sucking skinnies. Yay! They work great rolled up boyfriend style or full length. Of course I'm a lot shorter than you so I don't know if they'd be the right length for you.

They are TTS relative to Gap, BR, etc., i.e. I wear the same size in those brands.

Such great news for Maya! I am so happy for her - and for you too. Way to go - like mother like daughter, heh? :-)
Love your interpretation of Angie's ensemble. These white jeans were total workhorses for you, weren't they?
