WIW: Inspired by Bridget

After a brief heatwave earlier in the week, we woke today to what I think of as "Seattle" summer -- cooler and breezier than usual for here. Inspired by Bridget's fab style, I threw this together:

Gap Real straight jeans sized up for a BF look, cut off and rolled for long shorts.

J. Crew hi-low sweater.

Bernia metallic sandals.

Fossil belt.

And when it warms up, I'll take off the sweater to show my wild card scenic tee, to honour Bridget's love of pattern. :)

Thanks, Bridget, and thank you, Angie! :)

Yet another great way to wear that fab tee, Suz. My goodness, you are beautiful in blue!

  • Alexandra replied 9 years ago

Fabulous! That blue makes you glow from the inside. If I were you, I'd have a closet full of that color.

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

That tee is fab, and Suz,  you are glowing in that faded baby blue! Love the beklt and shoes, too!:-)

  • Meredith replied 9 years ago

Fun summer look, Suz! That Bamf shirt was a great souvenir find and how great that the image doesn't show through the linen shirt!

  • viva replied 9 years ago

So pretty, Suz. And I am kicking myself at this very moment. In my recent purge I got rid of black Gap straights. I should have cut them!!!!!

  • Aubergine replied 9 years ago

I definitely echo how great the blue makes you look! The silver accents are so nice too -- they even pick up the color of the mountains on the top.

  • Sadie replied 9 years ago

    Really nice outfit!

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

That shade of blue is gorgeous, and looks wonderful on you. I am a lover of graphic tees, so your scenic wildcard tee is right up my alley. Is that the same Fossil belt that Bridget is wearing? About 10 minutes ago I broke "No Buy July" and purchased it :)

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous Suz - and speedy! I love the light blue on you and the silver accents are perfect.

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

So pretty! Love that pale turquoise/blue shade on you and I'm kinda regretting not getting those metallic sandals. They look fab with everything and the heel height is perfect.

  • Tanya replied 9 years ago

Beautiful!  I love that shade of blue, and that tee is awesome.

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Thank you all! Shannon, these sandals have been a complete godsend to me. Honestly, I wear them every day. I have actually been scouting to see if I can pick up a duplicate pair online in the US. They are THAT good. I might ask Angie if they will still be current feeling enough next year.

Viva, quick, go rescue that bag!! :)   I am really working on not purging quite so quickly these days so that I have a few options. But I actually bought these new (on sale) to make into cutoffs. I needed more white bottoms!

Here is something interesting. When I first showed this pond sweater, many people commented that they DID NOT LIKE the colour on me. Today, everyone loves it. Isn't that interesting?

In actual fact, it is not one of my very best (a bit too pastel for me) but it is within my colour palette range. I would only wear it in summer due to the light and my slight tan.

Great look!  I love those sandals and that tee.

  • abc replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous. Cool how we inspire each other.

How do you think those sandals would work on a slightly wide, flat foot? I never know if I need an 8.5 or 9. Sometimes I get 9s just for the little bit of extra width. Input would be great appreciated. I'm thinking of returning the cole haan Nassau flat sandals I picked up at Rack the other day in favor of these. Thanks!

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

abc, my feet are normal width verging maybe on wide in the toe area, with the opposite kind of arches -- mine are high and I have a high instep. I have a narrow heel. Very narrow.

I am not an expert on how shoes fit or feel for those with flat feet. I do know that on my first try on I was concerned that these did not have enough "lift" for me in the arch area. But the straps keep them secure and I quickly got used to them. My narrow heels rub when I walk -- I pretty much can't avoid this except in open backed sandals, due to my foot's shape --- but the straps hold the shoe on, and the leather is so soft I have not got a single blister.

I am a 6.5 or a 7, depending. Angie suggested sizing down for a low volume foot. I could only get the 7 so that's what I ordered, and it fits me -- suggesting that my feet are higher volume.

Ok--You look fab! Love the blue on you and this post put me over the top.  I. must. have. that. belt.  :)  I was already leaning in that direction and you sealed the deal--I know where I'm going after work today......  ;)

A pretty color palette for summer.  This outfit reminds me of the top crest on a an ocean wave with the light blue and white.  And the silver sandals and belt are a great basic for summer, they look like they would pair well with anything and everything.

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

    Beautiful in blue :)

  • JAileen replied 9 years ago

You look so fresh and cool in this outfit. And of course the Rockies are always refreshing this time of year!

  • abc replied 9 years ago

Thanks Suz! I just noticed they come in regular and wide so I might try the 8.5w which should fit. Thanks again!

  • Alana in Canada replied 9 years ago

Thanks for th breakdown on the sandals. I have fallen in love with them, too. Next year, I'll be a bit more shopping savvy and I'll find something, I'm sure. Gladiators have been around a long time, now, though, haven't they?

Have you developed a tan since you last wore the shirt? That would explain why it is evoking such praise. I find summer tough for that reason--my skin colour is almost totally different.

Whatever the reasons, you look terrific! It is supposed to be rainy and cold here tomorrow.

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

HAH. How fun are you, Suz. I particularly love #1. So fresh and crisp. Killer. xo

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

And Bridget has that linen tee in the amethyst.

  • Keturah replied 9 years ago

So cool and refreshing, Suz! Love those sandals with it TO DEATH! They really add some fun contrast and break it up. Lovely <3

  • E replied 9 years ago

You look so fresh & summery! And I just love that tee. :)

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

You are making me wish it was summer. YOUR summer I hasten to add, not mine :) YLF Suz.

  • K. Period. replied 9 years ago

I love it! I especially love it because I have the same sweater and I've been wearing it with my long white shorts too!!! You'd think we were outfit twins, other than my swap out of black/gray snakeskin sandals and snakeskin belt for your silver ones.  Have I mentioned lately what phenomenal taste you have, Suz?  :)

  • Mona replied 9 years ago

I can't get over these sandals on you. They literally go with everything. How clever of you to size up in GAP real straights and make cut offs from them. You look perfect for today's weather.

  • Jjsloane replied 9 years ago

I feel like I'm on vacation in Southern France or Greece you look so refreshingly summery cool.

  • replied 9 years ago

I quite like this J Crew linen sweater. In another post, you were wearing something similar in a taupey shade with a black skirt (?).  Is that the same sweater in the colour JC calls "wet stone"?  Linen sweaters are great - and I could use that stone/taupe colour........

And I know what you mean about the pastel blue - but it looks great!  Like, really great!  I think against the white, and with a bit of a tan.....it's a winner.  I have similar colouring, and all of a sudden, whites and pastels look great on where they looked sick a few months ago:)

  • SarahTheWhite replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous! And I completely see the inspiration! I think Bridget would be proud. :-)

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Lisa, I think that might be an outfit from last year. The skirt's actually navy and the taupe was a really cheap linen tee from H&M. It was very similar (except more cheaply made) to the current J. Crew boat neck tees. Different from the sweater, which is a heavier knit. But you're right about the colour -- the "wet stone" looks very similar to the colour of that top, and I might just have to stalk it because I passed along the H&M version to my stepdaughter recently.

Thanks, all. I loved this outfit. Caro -- it is really too warm an outfit for our summer, usually -- but this year is a weird year, and today was a weird day within a weird year! Even so, I couldn't wear the sweater long because it warmed up, but it's supposed to be a bit cool this weekend so I might try it again then.

K.Period --so great to see you pop in!! :)

  • Gracie replied 9 years ago

You're like a breath of fresh air in this outfit – the colors combined with your metallic accents are perfection!

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Lovely - I am glad you  got this pastel blue sweater, it looks beautiful, especially with white.
Funnily I wore a similar outfit today but in different colors: cream cuffed relaxed skinnies and pastel pink cotton Gap sweater. It was not too warm to take off the sweater all day today - weird summer indeed! :-)

  • Debbie replied 9 years ago

Love this on you! You need more blue!
    Bridget is a great inspiration.

  • Gigi replied 9 years ago

Wow, the linen tee works so well with the graphic tee! And I love the silver accents—the matching sandals and belt.

This seems like a cooler color palette than you usually wear. It's always so refreshing to try something a little different. :) Great outfit.
