WIW: MOTG formula plus Viva's bag

Are you sick of this red sweater yet? This seems to have become a go-to.

I don't usually "do" tees, but today made an exception with the lovely, soft Vince boat neck.

Mainly I wanted to show the Orb vegan tote bag that I got on Vivian's recommendation. I chose the "Revolution Army" which looked taupe in the stock photo. In my photo it looks more olive. But IRL it's very changeable and it actually works beautifully with my taupe jacket, not that I would probably wear the two together. It's a more casual bag than I usually carry but I think it's going to be a workhorse for my many trips. Thanks, Viva!

Booties: Zara
Jeans: Rag and Bone Dre
Belt: no name made in China
Tee: Vince boatneck
Sweater: J. Crew
Bag: Orb
Scarf: Banana Republic

Love this, Suz. My word, LOVE the bag in taupe too. What a useful bag! So glad you got it. That is going to be a workhorse. I was seriously considering the black when I saw Vivian's. Now I love this colour. Great MOTG rendition.

I still have that bag sitting waiting to be ordered, but can't decide between black and the taupe.  And I start my crazy travelling time in a couple of weeks - I think you've convinced me to go taupe with your posting here.  I also want that sweater of yours - but I refuse to order anything I can't even exchange. Rant of the day .  All this aside - these pieces are really workhorses for you, aren't they?  Fantastic look for a Friday:)  Happy Thanksgiving Long Weekend!!!

Oh Suz! I really love this. You look comfy but also so very well put together. The bag is fabulous. How does it look and feel when you use the shoulder strap? I've been lookng for a taupe bag that isn't too structured. They are hard to find. Maybe this is the one. How does the vegan leather feel? Would it be mistaken for leather IRL?

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Killer - and that includes the new vegan bag.

Just LOVING you in dark red, Suz. Move over Cranberry. xo

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

This sweater is a total workhorse!  I am searching for something in the right shade of dark red for me... And fab bag too.

Angie, what is the difference between dark red and cranberry?

  • AviaMariah replied 9 years ago

Perfect!  If our weather had been a little cooler today I would have almost been your twin with the same cardi and booties.  Cozy and comfy!!

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

Cranberry is a pink, Una. Dark red is a red.

  • replied 9 years ago

Don't apologize for wearing that cardigan too much! It's gorgeous and you have my permission to wear it every day, lol! This is a great take on Angie's new formula and I love the style of your new tote. I noticed it and the top of the Forum page straight away this morning. YLF!

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

Got it!  I always thought of cranberry as the color of the juice, sort of a jewel red.

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

You look classic, comfortable, and super stylish. The patterned belt and scarf take everything to the next level. I will never tire of seeing that gorgeous J.Crew sweater!

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

This cardigan looks so amazing on you that it is very tempting...It sounds pretty fine in  14-gauge knit though...is it the same weight as Tippi sweater? I think it would be a deal breaker for me as I wold refer a thicker knit in a cardigan now.
I really like how you found your work-from-home groove with FFBO of relaxsd or BF jeans, knits and booties (well, I guess booties are not for home but anyway...) Looking good!

  • kkards replied 9 years ago

this is fab, the sweater is great, and i love the cuff with the pointed toe booties.  the bag is great---i love bags that give you multiple ways to carry them!

  • merwoman replied 9 years ago

Casual polish at it's best! Love the new bag, and I'm eyeing those jeans! Everytime you wear them I think must check them out!

  • Inge replied 9 years ago

I too am loving this darker red on you, Suz, and the colour looks beautiful with blue jeans and your new bag (great find!). The scarf and patterned belt are great additions too.
You look cosy and stylish at the same time = perfect combination:-)

  • Vicki replied 9 years ago

Wonderful MOTG interpretation with a little help from Viva. I'm sure that vegan bag will get lots of action and the burgundy sweater is a beautiful color on you. I love this longer length as Angie described in her ensemble post. You won't ever have any complaints from me seeing your WIW's.

  • Elly replied 9 years ago

I love this on you too --- especially the jeans and booties together-- I want to see more variations of that on you. Plus, I like the dark red too! I'm a dark red lover over cranberry any day, although you look fab in both.

  • texstyle replied 9 years ago

Love the sweater Suz and agree with Claire, you can wear it as often as you like in my view. I do view "cranberry" as Una said - the color of the juice but this one is burgundy, right? (more red, less blue in the color spectrum and maybe the burgundy and dark reds have some black mixed in?).

The tote is nice too and a great color!

  • Tanya replied 9 years ago

Love everything about this Suz!  The new bag is gorgeous, too bad it is not available in USA.  I purchased the same cardigan yesterday, we will be cardigan twins :)

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

You can do no wrong Suz! Absolutely nailed it! Love the dark red sweater on you ... And nope I am never getting tired of that :). The new tote is fun too!

  • shedev replied 9 years ago

The cardi and scarf look great together.

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Hi, all - so sorry that I posted and ran - it was a busy day!

Thanks for your kind compliments, all.

Una, I thought "cranberry" was a red, too -- a bright blue red. Like my winter coat. Which is definitely NOT pink!! But Angie has spoken. So I will now refer to both my coat and this sweater as dark red, even though they are a bit different. My coat is brighter and "purer" if that makes sense (and is probably the more flattering shade on me, truth be told) -- while this sweater is a bit muddier and closer to burgundy while still being more on the blue-red spectrum than the brown-red spectrum.

Phew!! Anyway, I am glad you all like it on me, I do, too.

Tanya, yay!!! Sale today, too....get a price adjustment quick!!

Tex, your analysis is probably better than mine. Thank you!

Elly, you will definitely see more booties and jeans since that is my late fall uniform.

    Thanks, Vicki and Inge!

Sue, I think you would love these jeans. They work well for a straighter body type.

    kkards, thanks, and me, too!

Sveta, order that cardigan today!! It is 30% off and free shipping!! It is NOT thin weight because it is double knit. It's actually very heavy. Too heavy to wear on a warm day. A true fall/ winter item and almost coat-like.

    Karie, Claire, thanks!

Angie, I am glad you have straightened us all out. And I will wear lots of dark red this year, whatever else we call it! :)

AV, I'd love to be your twin.

Una, I can see you in dark red for sure.

Carter, thank you! The shoulder strap on the bag feels surprisingly good. The handles are long enough to go over my shoulder, actually -- though maybe not with a big coat. And then there is also the strap. It comes with the inside bag as well. It is quite well made for vegan. I don't know if you would ever be fooled completely into thinking it's leather -- I am pretty fussy about that and pretty much always can tell -- but it manages to be handsome on its own terms, if you know what I mean. And if you were only looking from a distance you would never know. I will take some more photos tomorrow if we get a sunny day.

I really like this colour. It is slightly on the olive side of taupe but still I would classify it as taupe. It mixes really well with other stuff.

Mr. Suz was very taken with this bag and he is usually not one to comment on bags. At first he mentioned that it was large, but when he realized how it works and what it is for, he was really impressed and he thought the style was ingenious.

Lisa - delivery was quick -- I got it in less than a week. They were easy to deal with. I would recommend it if you need something like this. My only slight complaint is that the tote part only fastens with a magnet, not a zipper. (The inside removable bag has a zipper). But it seems to hold closed well and doesn't present a problem.

Thank you, Jackie!! You could probably check the bags in person first because I think they are based in Vancouver.

    Thanks again, all.

  • carter replied 9 years ago

What do you mean when you say Mr Suz thought the style was ingenious when he realized how it works and what it is for? Aside from being great-looking, does it have other special powers?

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

    Carter, it just might!

Well, I think what he (and I) meant was that it is a sort of vertical tote vs. a horizontal one. My computer fits in there and that is crucial for my travelling. Meanwhile, the outer pockets hold phone & keys (if desired) while the clip in zippered inner bag (which also has inner pockets) can be used within the tote or on its own as a shoulder bag/ crossbody when you are at your destination and don't need the computer.

I travel at least once a month so a bag like this is terrific for me.

  • Aida replied 9 years ago

Lovely rich and deep colors, perfectly selected to suit you. The bag does look just right for the use you describe, and I can definitely see how the color will be versatile for you. I'm quite liking the dark red paired with navy; a few years back I was into bright red with navy, I may have to give this much moodier version a try.

  • Jjsloane replied 9 years ago

You should get a kickback from J Crew. I just ordered this cardi based on all your outfits. I normally don't like this color near my face, but with chambray and some plaid shirts I think I'll be fine and I'll feel part of the sisterhood of the dark red sweater.

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Go, Jeanne!!! Can't wait to see it on you -- I actually think it will work really well as you plan to style it.

  • Carole replied 9 years ago

Gorg-eous! Loving it all. Beautiful sweater and the bag sensational!

  • thimblelina replied 9 years ago

Not tired at all; I'm actually stalking you in this sweater! I just ordered it on the JCrew weekend sale. I need this deep red. Crew calls this burgundy, but that's not quite right, no? Another wino name would be better descriptively. Maybe merlot??? And thanks for clearing up the cranberry conundrum. I was edging there myself. Can't wait for it to arrive!

  • Eliza replied 9 years ago

Totally smitten with this look on you. Ordered the sweater in red and black, as an indicator of how great this outfit is. Bravo!

I love that dark red is having a moment- like tomato red but it doesn't like me back.

  • thimblelina replied 9 years ago

    Sweater triplets! Yay!

  • Lyn D. replied 9 years ago

    I love your sweater!
It doesn't look much in stock pics, but so lovely in your outfits :)

More love for everything - YLF.
