WIW #OBG 1

I'm going to give this challenge a go, mirror or not. :)

I went through my closet and my Finds (which date to 2014). In Finds I've posted anything from 2015 back. And, well -- it turns out to be a huge proportion of my wardrobe! I am feeling pretty darned good about the use I get from my clothes at the moment!

Of course some of these are seasonal summer or deep winter items that I won't be wearing in the next week.

In the meantime, I decided to start (Like Liesbeth) with a plaid shirt! I almost donated this one last year because it had become a bit snug with weight gain. But I lost the weight and it fits again so I ended up keeping it. It's so cozy. The perfect shirt for a cool day when you don't feel like wearing a sweater over top indoors. Fun for holiday wear, also.

Wearing with pearls to juxtapose with the boyish hair. The earrings are my late mother-in-law's -- they must be 80 years old at least! Also wearing Kit and Ace stretch wool trousers, that dress it up a bit from jeans. And my fuchsia flats.

What a fun and unexpected pairing - pearls and plaid shirt! Love your styling of the shirt - YLF!
Looks great all together - wish I can see flats and pants as well ( later, when the big mirror is available ;) ).

Love this! The pearls look polished and pretty, and I like how it is styled with the shirt.

    KILLER FAB

You had me with the pile of pearls and plaid! Sooo pretty and elegant!

You have a beautifully authentic wardrobe that suits you, Suz! Gloat and feel proud about how well it has worked - and continues to work - for you :)

Gosh this is such a fresh take on flannel. Preppie with a twist. Fab.

You do a feminine plaid shirt like no one else . Love it . You’re making me miss my old Kit & Ace wardrobe :(

So stylish Suz, and it's not just the the pearls and the plaid flannel, it's the rolled sleeves and the rumpled collar too, everything just right.

    Yes! :)

Oh, pearls, what a lovely touch! I’m amazed that such a large part of wardrobe is from 2015.

You have shown us a fabulous way to wear a flannel shirt. A pile of pearls! What a great way to breathe new life into an oldie.

The pearls look just perfect here. Wow! I have a hard time wearing pearls because I feel they need to strike just the right note on me (doesn't work effortlessly like Angie!) but I am inspired.

Plaid and pearls! I love it! That’s a great shirt. Nice warm colours. YLF!

Thank you all for the compliments! Much appreciated. My writing group (on Zoom) also commented on how dressed up I was today. Pearls will do that!

Shevia, when my hair was blonde, pearls were super easy for me to wear and I loved them. Then I went grey and my overall colouring suddenly felt a bit cool for pearls (as well as for gold). But you commented that you had returned to some gold hardware etc. after initially signing off it -- and I feel much the same about pearls. Gold is still iffy (though I will wear it) but pearls -- with the right support act, seem to feel a bit less fraught these days. I need a real strong juxtaposition for them to work at all, though -- denim, flannel, maybe leather? -- something a bit on the boyish or even tough side. No pink dresses with pears.

Lovely, Suz! I was curious how you'd style plaid - had a feeling the woodcutter would be nowhere in sight ;).
I am curious: are these older items workhorses that have held up extremely well, or the kind of items that serve a very specific function in your wardrobe? The latter is true for most of my items older than 6 years I've found.

Pearls and plaid are a match made in heaven and something I would never have thought to put together. This is wonderful on you.

  • Sal replied 3 years ago

Fun juxtaposition that really works. I think that makes the pieces modern.

I do think pearls are lovely on most skin tones. I must get mine fixed.

Very nice! I love pearls with plaid. Your hair looks great too.

Looks great with the pearls! I have this shirt and plan to wear it later this week. See you real soon!

You look great!  I have that very shirt.  Mine is pre YLF, and is showing how much i’ve liked it.
