WIW: #OBG Pantsuit plus pink

I bought this beautiful Elie Tahari stretch wool suit in April 2014, at YLF's 8th birthday bash!

It's beautifully made. Lovely, lightweight wool with a bit of stretch, gorgeous stretchy satiny lining, beautiful and unusual details like the zipper tooth edge along the front and the tiny leather insets in the collar. The sleeves are perfect for scrunching.  I am sitting at my computer in the jacket now and it is not in the least constricting.

But I confess, having bought it, I almost never wore it as a suit. I wore it as separates, and rarely wore the pants at all. And then it got too snug, with weight gain, so I didn't wear it, period, and was just about to pass it along, when COVID hit, and I lost weight, and now it fits again, and guess what? There is nothing more comfortable for daily wear in a pandemic than stretch wool. And the whole "casualize" a suit thing suits me To. A. Tee.  and makes suit-wearing feel natural even in these oh-so-casual times.

Today I am wearing it with my new sweater in pinks and my pink flats (inside) or pink runners (outside, if I go there in all the rain). I had to make a rather inelegant cuff because the pants are hemmed for a 2 inch heel, but hey, it's okay for here in the house. DYOT for the win.

Fab! Especially like it with the pink sneakers! Updates and makes the suit so now. & love that the pattern on the top & sneakers seems to be so similar, it’s like the ultimate modern twin set

Oh, how lovely! I’m a big fan of pantsuits. My favorite is with sneakers. You can come up with so many combinations, like white turtle neck and white sneakers or wear it with blue. Very versatile piece and looks great on you.

I must start by saying I love your hair!! And outfit is fab, would love to have something like this.

    Your hair is fab!

What a great suit. And I love both shoes. The color is fun. I wouldn’t have predicted that would be a comfortable at home outfit, but so nice to feel put together AND comfortable too.

Wow this is a stunner on you. You look sensational. I especially like it with the sneakers too - might be worth hemming for flats?

    Your hair looks very sharp!

KILLER to the Power of KILLER

Happy YLF gathering memories, Suz!!! LOVE the pink! And the spiky hair! So prety, fresh, radiant and elegant.

I'm with you on finding dressy stretch wool SOOOO COMFY! It's why I wear my dressy pants a lot. More than jeans at the moment. High fiving your suit love. It works!!

I'm twining you back in 2013...when I wore heels. The suit was passed on this year. 11 years old! Holes....

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

Angie, you looked glorious in that suit and it served you SOO well. Time for a new one, I think! :)

And yes, Sal, I need to hem these pants for flats or at least a low platform sneaker. I'll get a lot more wear from them that way these days.

Anchie, I can't believe you don't have something like this! You are the queen of great jackets!

Thank you all for the nice words. It's fun to wear an oldie and a great challenge -- thanks to Carla and also to Vildy, who seems to have made the comment that set the whole discussion off.

This is why I hesitate to get rid of stuff. You look fantastic, you may favour blue but you sure do look pretty in pink.

Never mind the suit - which is GREAT - what about this faux hawk ?? I love it ! Stretch wool is the bomb , I agree and I love the pink accents here . You win the internet today !

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Angie is right...you do look radiant. Love the hair!

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

Faux hawk, yeah....I think it gave Mr. Suz a scare, but he dared not say anything after his negative comment the other day when I first got it cut. ;)

Just short enough to stay there for about 4 minutes with some product. It has to be really short to stay put -- or maybe I need (even) stronger product. Like some kind of glue.

Cardiff Girl, thank you. I do love a bright pink, for sure!

Stunning! So glad that you didn't pass it on! And the hair - wow!

  • UmmLila (Lisa) replied 3 years ago

I love those sneaks! And even more, I like that you're wearing a suit around the house. I had a J Crew blouse in the same pattern as the sweater, but it ripped so I ditched it and the matchy slingbacks I had.

  • Runcarla replied 3 years ago

YES!  So glad the pantsuit (together or as individual pieces) is back in rotation. This is a beauty, and what an inspired colour combination.  ❤️ for the smart hair!

I’d wear my hair like this too - but you’re right: it’s a very specific length or it doesn’t work . I do it for about a week after each haircut ;) And boo to Mr Suz - why so they say such dumb things??

  • slim cat replied 3 years ago

You look amazing - hair is the bomb! Fab additions in pink color :) !

  • Bijou replied 3 years ago

Amazing - a perfect outfit. The colour of this suit is gorgeous with you grey hair, I am sure it looks even better on you than it did when you first bought it. Hmm, I really like the idea of wearing a nice suit for working from home rather than jeans every day.

  • lyn67 replied 3 years ago

Ah, this a fab new hair, did I miss the cut???  YLF, Suz! -just dare I say I miss the darker  strand up front-did you give up on that? Loved it too!
The color of the suit is so wise ("taupe" by us) goes so well to blond and/or silver hair. Then, love those little edgy details and sure the fabric is gorgeous as you say. And..fuchsia  is your color forever!
I have to confess, I did have once purchased a grey-fine and blend in bluish pinstripe pantsuit back then, say  15 yrs or more(? when they were first available by us in stretcy wool)- loved all about it, except I always considered it  too dressy and "done" for a weekday in the office so, like you, I have given up on wearing them together...later grown it out and passed on.... Now I long for one the same- as styling it esp. with the  curent white sneakers (or other flat shoes) would really dress them down to wearable on a day to day basis.

  • Kyle replied 3 years ago

Love the hair styling, so fab, and the way you’ve styled your suit.

  • nemosmom replied 3 years ago

You look so great in this suit, Suz! And, can we talk about those fab snakeprint sneakers?!?!?!  SO FUN!

  • kellygirl replied 3 years ago

Wow, you look so hip and cool in your suit with trainers. Love this look on you and your hair is terrific!

  • Jules replied 3 years ago

It's so great you can make happy use of it now! So often the case that the great suit bought with much excitement doesn't get worn enough.

  • rachylou replied 3 years ago

    Outta the park!!

  • Helena replied 3 years ago

Love the hair and the suit. If it feels comfy for home, then why not???

  • Jaime replied 3 years ago

More than ok, I'd say! Love the Tilda Swinton hair (as I see it!) and the suit looks so fantastic and right on you. Perfect with the patterned top and sneakers!
