WIW: Statement Sweaters

And will wear all winter (WIWAWWAW, AKA WeeWaaWaa) Which sounds good for MOTG, no?   :)

I am sick in bed today and I am not going to wear anything but sweatpants. But here are a few of my statement sweater outfits from the last few weeks, both featuring the new orb tote that Vivian recommended along with J. Crew knits.

#1/2  J. Crew Collection "framed" cashmere sweater (picked up on super sale, yay!), Orb bag, Gap snakeprint scarf (waving to scarf twin GoldenPig), CoH Racer skinnies, SE Petty python boots, Danier jacket outdoors.

#3, worn for a long walk -- J. Crew Collection cashmere tipped sweater, ON leopard print scarf, Kut Diana white skinnies, Orb bag, Blundstone chisel toe boots (an update on that a bit later for those who recall an earlier post.)

Happy weekend! Send virtual chicken soup!

    Sending virtual chicken soup...feel better!

  • Golden replied 9 years ago

Feel better! Your outfits are great, I love them both.

  • Jenny H replied 9 years ago

I hope you feel better soon. I was sick a few weeks ago and it is no fun at all.

But your outfits from healthier days all look great! I especially like the sweater in #1.

  • Tanya replied 9 years ago

So sorry to hear you are sick, hope you feel better soon!

Beautiful outfits, as always!  Gorgeous cashmere sweaters too.

  • Zibbets replied 9 years ago

"WeeWaaWaa" made me laugh out loud!
Two gorgeous outfits. Hope you feel better soon.

  • thimblelina replied 9 years ago

    Sorry you are sick :-(
Now you will enjoy a splendidly refreshed immune system as a consolation prize!
I may have to copy that gray sweater too, like a creepy stalker!!! (Cue evil laugh...)

  • Joy replied 9 years ago

Oh, no. I hope you feel better fast. These are both perfect examples of Angie's MOTG ensemble. You look wonderfully ready for cold weather. Would you mind sharing what size you buy for this fit in JCrew sweaters?

  • Transcona Shannon replied 9 years ago

Feel better soon Suz - there are certainly a lot of bugs going around these days :)

These are wonderful sweaters and will serve you well going into fall and winter.

  • Jaime replied 9 years ago

Feel better Suz - I love both sweaters and your scarves looks excellent with them. Your statement is looking consistently great, which isn't so bad!

  • Inge replied 9 years ago

*chuckle*, you're a trooper for not losing your sense of humour while sick, Suz. I'm so sorry you're feeling under the weather. Feel better soon and get some extra rest sporting those fab sweatpants of yours;-)

Both sweaters really are stunning, and super versatile pieces. As I've mentioned before: I absolutely love that shade of blue on you. I also love how the scarf picks up the animal print of your booties, and it all looks so great with your beautiful leather jacket.

Outfit two is perfect as well. So fresh and crisp with the white jeans, and the grey pullover (stunning piece) works really well with your dark taupe (or is it grey) bag and booties.

P.S. Chicken soup and a healing slice of Belgian bread pudding coming your way!

  • Mona replied 9 years ago

Ahhh! Hope you feel better soon. I am not feeling great either today but am at work. Hoping to rest up on the weekend.
Your JCrew knitwear is fabulous. Love both outfits.

  • replied 9 years ago

Love both sweaters - really gorgeous pieces.  Glad to see that tote is working out so well too!  Note to self to tie scarf as in your first photo - I like that, and sort of got off that look (for no reason ) .  Friday's not a bad day to hang out in bed resting - with any luck, you'll feel better by tomorrow morning :)  Have a lovely weekend.

  • jackiec replied 9 years ago

Aw Suz I hope you feel better soon! Sending virtual soup and hugs :)

Your statement sweater outfits are so fab. I love that orchid shade on you, and love how the scarf ties in with your booties. And the second sweater looks so cozy as well. Polished perfection :)

  • texstyle replied 9 years ago

Hope you are feeling better very soon.  Love the outfits you posted!

  • Windchime replied 9 years ago

You are gorgeous in both sweaters; I love how you've paired scarves with them.

"WeeWaaWaa"-- thanks for the laugh! It sounds like something I'll be saying by February, if not sooner!

Snuggle up with your kitty today and feel better soon.

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Ah, thank you all. It is YLF chicken soup for the soul.

Joy, in answer to your question, I sized up on both these items. One (the tipped sweater) was labeled oversize already. So it is SUPER oversize on me. It does look a bit tent-like from the side, but I have a really high tolerance for that and it doesn't bother me. Plus, the sleeves are snug at the bottom and on the shorter side, so they are easy to scrunch for structure, and I feel the lines add structure also. It is a heavier gauge cashmere (so warmer) but has a fabulous drape. Unfortunately, I don't think it is available any more.

The periwinkle textured frame sweater #1 was labeled as a relaxed fit, so I sized up for a more oversize look as well. It's a lighter weight cashmere.

For other J. Crew sweaters, though, I tend to order my actual size unless it says "semi-fitted" (like the Tippi) and in that case I will order up one for a slightly more fluid tailored fit -- I often need it for the shoulders in any case. But if they are labelled relaxed or oversize, I will usually order my normal XS.

Great sweaters. Love the blue one and white jacket combo esp, very chic. Feel better!

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 9 years ago

Wow--gorgeous statement-sweater outfits! Hope you feel better, Suz.

  • replied 9 years ago

Oh no! Well rest up and only fun things for you today Sending you a quart of egg drop soup, which always made me feel instantly better (maybe it was the MSG!) and a pot of oolong tea.

You are such a stylish lass that you already had these pictures in the pipeline when Angie made her post. This looks like an updated silhouette for you and I really like it, along with the reviled swede scarf, lol! I love the colorway of the first one and the way the two snakeskin elements are slightly different. Yay for the white Danier jacket, we haven't seen that for a while! In the second outfit, I really love how the scarf adds a bit of your hair color into the mix. Gorgeous sweaters on a gorgeous lady. I'm glad to see you've got the Blundstone situation worked out, too. They're a great taupe color, and seem to match that fab bag. You've got it ALL goin' on Suz! Feel better soon. :)

  • replied 9 years ago

Aww, even when you're on your sick bed you manage to treat us to some fab style. Love both iterations and particularly the fit and design of the sweater in #2. Also #1 has helped to give me inspiration for a white jacket that I've yet to start wearing. Get well soon!

  • Carole replied 9 years ago

Your the perfect model for today's formula. Love your statement sweaters and your extra special flair!

  • amiable replied 9 years ago

I have got to start watching the sized-up sweaters.  You look gorgeous - sorry you don't feel well!  WEEWAAWAA is my life!

  • Ingunn replied 9 years ago

Your spirit is up, hooray! You look gorgeous in your WEEWAAWAA outfits, Suz, and the last one is to die for. Here's some special Norwegian chicken soup for you, my friend. Get well fast!

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

You nailed it both times, Suz. Fabulous. YOUR look. Great renditions with colours and neutrals. Rest up and feel better soon. xo

  • Angie replied 9 years ago

    And the Blundstones look great.

  • Dani replied 9 years ago

I love sweaters in general, love them all the more when they have statement pieces attached. Saves me a lot of time finding jewelry to go with an outfit lol

  • catgirl replied 9 years ago

Feel better! The sweaters are gorgeous - the second one is perfect fluid fabness!

  • Astrid replied 9 years ago

I LOVE all your looks here! Please do wear them all winter. :)

I hope you feel better soon.

  • Sveta replied 9 years ago

Get well soon! I hope you are OK by tomorrow as they promised a gorgeous weather for the weekend (here anyway).
Of course I love both versions. I still mourn that I did not manage to get that framed sweater in the right size and color for me (would love that blue) so I will enjoy it through you.
Tipped sweater is still going strong I see after you wore it so much last season, isn't it? JCrew does have a good knitwear quality.
I am sending you a cup of fresh gignger tea with honey and a piece of pumpkin bread :-)

  • Suz replied 9 years ago

Awwww, thank you all for your well-wishes! They truly do help! And Sveta, I am drinking the ginger tea as we speak.

  • merwoman replied 9 years ago

Stunning Suz!  I really like the addition of the scarves - I have been in the mood to wear more scarves as well lately. Hope you are felling better soon!!

  • RunningSue replied 9 years ago

Suz, you always look great!  I love to see your outfits since you do such a great job of pulling pieces together that someone in my shoes can wear.

Feel better, keep up the great styling!

PS  All 5 of my kids are now in school, twins started kindergarten this fall, woo hoo!

  • Style Fan replied 9 years ago

The sweaters are lovely on you and you have nailed the look but for me it is the Blundstones that stole the show.  Perfect colour.  I adore them.

  • columbine(erin) replied 9 years ago

Aww! Feel better soon. Sending virtual chicken soup. And pumpkin muffins.

  • lyn67 replied 9 years ago

They are spot on, both! Love the white and white animal accents in 1-2 they make all the difference! Sweater nr 2 has a great detail with that black strakes running down the front and sleeves, it makes it looking more then JFE, and of course the white jeans make all the difference:-). Get well asap, sending you tee with a caramel pie:-)

  • Beth Ann replied 9 years ago

So sorry you're under the weather!  I'll which up a batch of chicken kale soup for  you -- it has the most lovely asian fusion broth!

Love both looks --- the silhouettes are terrific and the accessories are just right!  I can't believe you take a long walk in a sweater.  No matter the temp, I'd be a sweaty mess!

  • tulle replied 9 years ago

Isn't that a great sweater?  I have it in navy, and wear it so often, it probably qualifies as an essential in my wardrobe.  On me it's almost tunic length, which makes it especially warm and practical, and I love the way the "frame" stitching  squares my shoulders.  Wonderful for travel, too (I'm on the road right now) because it's lightweight and versatile. That periwinkle is lovely on you.

I'm sorry  to hear that you are under the weather.  Hope you feel better soon.

  • Caro in Oz replied 9 years ago

    Fab looks Suz.
I was going to suggest ginger tea; you are way ahead of me :)
    Hope you are feeling better.

  • Elly replied 9 years ago

Oh Suz, I love this! You look amazing, creative, classic, fresh, and not "boring" at all.

  • Gigi replied 9 years ago

I hope you're on the mend, Suz. Sorry to hear you are sick.

I really love the color of the J. Crew sweater on you. And that leopard print scarf is really perfect. The new bag looks fun also. Great outfits!

  • Karie replied 9 years ago

Gorgeous sweaters! My favorite is the one in #3, although I do love #1 and #2 with the scarf and those booties.

I was sick in bed yesterday, and feeling slightly better today. Here's hoping for a better tomorrow for both of us!

  • unfrumped replied 9 years ago

I had to go back and read that twice!
Great sweaters! Both the URL color and the tipped one.
    Heal!

  • Meow replied 9 years ago

Your outfits are FAB as usual. Sending healing mojos your way.

  • Lynne replied 9 years ago

Suz, the periwinkle sweater with the white jacket is divine on you! The fit looks relaxed and soft, you were spot on with your sizing!

  • CocoLion replied 9 years ago

You are stunning in both of these.  I love the color of the cashmere sweater.  The jeans look to be a perfect fit on you.  The second outfit is super modern with the oversized sweater.  And now you have me all keen on Blundstones.

I hope the cold passes quickly!

  • Neel replied 9 years ago

It's the season of sniffles. I hope you feel better soon. DSs have been taking warm ginger extract with honey everyday to combat the colds. Really helps!

You look fantabulous with your statement sweaters! I especially love that beautiful scarf in 1! Perfect with the booties. And the sweater in 2 is a true statement! Love it!
