I got home from my trip to find the sweetest present. Mo had sent me a cozy cashmere hoodie and camisole set! It's in a soft off-white/ cream with a lovely texture and is the perfect addition to my work-at-home/ loungewear capsule! The hoodie has zippers that work both ways and little "kangaroo" pockets. It is soft and yet because it has a tailored fit, it's a bit structured.
You know I'm always saying that my goal is to find work-at-home clothing that's as comfy as workout wear? Well, here it is, and it's ideal for my climate, too! Thank you so much, Mo, for sending this!
I'm wearing with the Gap Original Fit Selvege jean in the worn selvege wash. I tried these in a dark wash in the fall after admiring them on Cinnamon Fern, but that pair didn't work for me at all. They seemed much too big, even in the smallest available size (down from my usual size) and even considering I wanted a slouchy fit. And they bagged out in weird places.
I actually ordered this pair for my daughter. But they came and I tried them, and I may end up keeping them for myself. These are in my usual Gap size. The crotch is dropped and they are slouchy but not super baggy. They are soft, 100% cotton.
What do you think?
I ordered them a size up as well and tried those. They are truly baggy as well as slouchy and very comfortable, but the front rise area puffed out and on reflection I decided I'd rather go for a modified baggy/slouchy look than the more extreme version.
I would prefer a pair with no distressing. But since my daughter stole my sexy BFs, I am also looking for a comfy jean I can wear, and I like that these are not too short to wear uncuffed (as the BFs are).
Still debating about trying the True Religion Camerons that Angie got (if they are available) but worried about the varied reports on sizing.

Mo replied 11 years agoYay - it came! Cozy, huh? I hear you on rounding out the capsules you truly spend most of your time in. Enjoy :)
What exactly is 'selvedge' anyway? Unfinished denim? Is it rough? I always wondered this . . . lol
-
Suz replied 11 years agoWell, the dark wash ones were a bit rough, yes -- or at least stiff. But I think it's just a name for the 100% cotton jeans! These ones are super soft. But not at all stretchy, of course. I'll bet Rae knows, because she's done some research on this.

texstyle replied 11 years agoSo sweet of Mo and it looks great on you. The jeans look really good, I like the wash. These are Gap selvedge? I wondered what those were like too. For me, the way they feel is pretty important and you said they are super soft so I'd say go for them.

pil replied 11 years agoCashmere hoodie, how nice is that for working at home?

catgirl replied 11 years agoSweet! Everyone working at home needs luxury loungewear!

Angie replied 11 years agoTotally fabulous!!! All pieces. Yay, Mo! And Yay Suz for making them work so well.
-
replied 11 years agoI love my Gap selvedge. Mo, the selvedge is the finished edge on a woven piece of fabric -- on these jeans if you look at the seams you can see they are finished. I think it is supposed to mean higher quality or something.
suz, looks great to me! -

kellygirl replied 11 years agoGreat lounge wear! How decadent that you can lounge in cashmere :) I lounge in polar fleece and not the kind that comes from arctic bears! Great jeans too--I like that they are slightly slouchy. It's a nice change from the SBF!

Raisin replied 11 years agoOh it looks so sooooooft! Lovely gift, Mo!

cciele replied 11 years agoLooks fantastic, cozy, and pulled together! I also was wondering about the Gap Selvadge jeans and now I know -- they look great! And the distressing seems pretty understated.

Karie replied 11 years agoWhat a nice gift! And you look fab in the jeans too!

Ingunn replied 11 years agoHow kind of Mo to give avay such a treasure! I love that you lounge in cashmere. Very appropriate for a classy lady like you. You look absolutely lovely.

K. Period. replied 11 years agoYummy! The cashmere hoodie must be fabulous to wear. The Gap jeans look great. Do you find that you have a hard time getting the slouchiness of them to photograph well? I noticed that my slouchy jeans came off as a little baggy in the photos, but not nearly as much as they were IRL. I can tell that these fit loose like mine do, which was the perfect compromise between flattery and trendy for me. They look great on you!
-
Suz replied 11 years agoYes, K can - and Diana has noted the same thing. The jeans always photograph a little less loose than they feel in person. It's weird. Not that these are super baggy. Just a little baggy and a little slouchy. I'm not at all sure that these are my perfect slouchy slim jean...but they are good for now as my temporary pair while I keep looking.
Karie, thank you for the link! You are a sewing whizz and so knowledgeable. -
Aida replied 11 years agoSuz, I have those exact jeans and I love them! I also wanted them as a more subtle BF fit option, though I have been debating getting the hem tapered because I don't like wearing straight leg jeans; mine fit me about a half size larger than yours, but I think yours is plenty relaxed. I plan to wear them as absolutely long as possible before washing them. Like, maybe all summer or longer (yep.). They are very lightly distressed, though the wash makes them look more so. Mine have already become my weekend mainstay jeans. I think these are totally keepers :)

Tina.b replied 11 years agoWhat a lovely gift from Mo, looks fantastic on you! And those jeans are a stellar fit.

Sveta replied 11 years agoYou are back! :-)
I like both the hoodie ( hail Mo!) and the jeans. Score! -
Suz replied 11 years agoAida, good to know you have these, too, and like them. They are certainly comfortable. I'm not sure I'll like them rolled as much as I like the sexy BFs rolled. So I might end up getting another pair of those, too. Hmm, decisions, decisions....
-
Aida replied 11 years agoYeah, the straighter fit makes the roll a little wide so it needs some minor pegging to combat that. So far I have been wearing mine unrolled (winter, after all) primarily with booties, though they do work well with pumps too, since mine are a little shorter than I'd have liked. Of course, that does make them easier to roll up ;)

Jaime replied 11 years agoI love the jeans on you Suz! Excellent fit all around! And Mo's cashmere toppers are just the thing for you. Wonderful!
-
replied 11 years agoHow sweet of Mo to send you that yummy cashmere hoodie! Such a pretty white on you too and looks perfect with your snake pieces.
I love the jeans, and truthfully, I can't tell any difference between the sizes at all! Keep the pair that feels the best. I wonder how much bag-out you'll get on them? -
Suz replied 11 years agoThis is just one size, Claire - I didn't bother photographing the larger one. So these are in my regular size. I wore them all day and they did loosen up some more, but not too terribly (I felt).
-
Tanya replied 11 years agoWhat a great hoodie, how thoughtful of Mo! The jeans look stellar on you, I am voting keep.
-
replied 11 years agoROTFL! Sorry I missed that! It validates that I couldn't discern the difference (that didn't exist) though. It sounds like they eased up just enough. I love that wash and the whiskering, LOVE!
