WIW: Zella pocket legging and Icebreaker Quantum hoodie

Well, since I tore my meniscus, and spend hours of every day in physio, biking, and now "practice" walking, pretty much all I wear is gear. Today, ta-da! -- I just happen to be wearing two items featured in Angie's blog post. :)

I really like the Zella 7/8 pocket legging. It's the one I reach for most. The regular length leggings are mostly too long for me and I have to turn them under, but I also just like the way these ones fit.

And the Icebreaker hoodie is a really great colour for me. (Not that this photo really shows you -- sorry. I have the mirror now, but the set up is poor for light. Will have to work on that.)

I got mine on considerable sale this spring from Icebreaker. They have excellent sales several times per year.

Not shown: knee brace. ;)

Good recs! I like that hoodie! I’m building my supply of workout toppers now...

    *waving at my leggings twin*

Thanks for the Icebreaker jacket rave, Suz, and YAY for the full length mirror! Sending healing thoughts to your knee, and OF COURSE that blue is fab on you :)

  • Mirjana replied 3 years ago

Beautiful Suz, lovely hoodie, blue is gorgeous on you.

Very flattering - just the right proportions on 7/8 legging!
Sorry for the knee brace - I'm familiar with that ;) . They do work ( I was in two of them for some time in summer - big help ).

I often prefer 7/8 leggings too, especially if I'll be wearing them with sneakers instead of boots. DH had the men's version of the Quantum hoodie for years and wore it to shreds! He's on his second one now. Wishing you and your knee the best of health -- what an awful time not to be able to take long walks! We're all stir-crazy enough as it is. Thank goodness for the bike. :)

That’s a great hoodie, and the fit of both pieces looks perfect. I just found out I have a slight tear in the meniscus on my right knee - doesn’t hurt, but I have to go to a bone and joint doctor.

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

Oooh, Karie -- I hope it won't cramp your style!! Mine's been a real "mare" as Angie would say. Happened on a run on Nov. 6, started improving and then I re-injured it during a walk. (That was before my physio appt. and I didn't know I should not walk on it -- there wasn't much, if any, pain...). Then I went to physio, started doing exercises for it, and getting treatment, and re-injured it again doing physio!! This time was really bad. It has been about 3 weeks since that and I'm improving again, but wow, it has been a long haul, and, as LaPed says, it's been especially hard in a time when going for walks is basically my only possible entertainment!! I miss seeing my friends that I walked with...

LaPed, these hoodies really do wear like iron. I have another of their hoodies, too -- a more traditional, looser fit "kangaroo coat" style hoodie. I love it, also.

Trust you to look as polished and pretty in gear as you do in a dress Suz! Great pieces that still feel like "you". Hope the knee is progressing as it should be.

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

Can these pieces be washed in the washer and dried in a dryer? If so, do they shrink? I really need pull-on pants And a co-originating topper or top..

Ugh on the injury.... these lingering ones are very challenging.

Icebreaker is so good.  I wash with a wool wash liquid on a cold wool wash in the machine.  Jon rotates around a couple of icebreaker hoodies all winter (and in cooler summer weather too).

I am planning a couple of Icebreaker purchases this year...I hope.  The fit is sometimes not right on me (bust too big, length too short).

  • Jaime replied 3 years ago

You look fab, and definitely thumbs up for the mirror!

  • Beth Ann replied 3 years ago

Oh no!  I'm just now catching up on all the YLF news, so please know that I wish you a quick and complete return to full power!

I love the Icebreaker hoodie. This is wool, yes?  I'll have to watch for the sales.

I suspect that the universe is telling me that I should wear Athleisure. Angie, your post helped convince me. I suspect that these are gentle wash, air dry garments..

  • Bijou replied 3 years ago

So sorry to hear about your knee - rehab and reinjury is just awful. I am impatient and like to see results. Glad to hear that you are making progress and have brilliant gear to wear, you look as gorgeous as ever.

  • kkards replied 3 years ago

Icebreaker hoodie now on my need list!
And i love leggings with pockets...but this pocket looks shallow, does it really hold a phone even when you are walking?

  • Theodora replied 3 years ago

I love these!  What is the fit like on the Zella leggings?  I ask because, although I wear size 4, 26-27 jeans,  but I am most comfortable in Lululemon’s size 8. Maybe sometimes a 6, so I know ahead of time that they run tight.

  • Suz replied 3 years ago

Theodora, we are close to the same size. I wear 6 in Lulu or sometimes an 8 and 26 or 27 in denim -- I got these leggings in XS but they would probably work well in S also.

Kkards, I rarely put my phone in the pockets because I mostly wear these leggings indoors (and if I do wear them outdoors, I usually have a hoodie or coat for the phone) but yes, I have in fact popped the phone (or a kleenex, or a mask) in the pocket and it stayed put. It does bulge out in that case, though, which some people might not like.

Joy, I do wash these items. I put the leggings in regular wash and dry (one of the rare items in my closet that I do that with). No doubt it wears them out sooner, but they are not showing signs of wear after a year. So.

The hoodie goes in cold water wash, I don't even worry about delicate -- and I lay it flat to dry. It air dries surprisingly quickly.

You look fabulous in your leggings and hoodie, Suz.  I am sorry to hear about your injury.  I hope all goes well with your recovery.

  • Theodora replied 3 years ago

Thanks, Suz!  They are definitely worth a try :)

  • replied 3 years ago

Hope you're recovering- ouch! That is a great color for you- and big yay for leggings with pockets!

  • Gail replied 3 years ago

I'm catching up here, so sorry to hear about your knee injury. My husband has had several knee injuries so I am quite familiar with the brace !. Glad to hear that things are improving for you. I really like your workout outfit especially the hoodie. How do you manage to look so polished in gear ? I never manage it.

  • Joy replied 3 years ago

I hope you are healing quickly and can do more.

  • Windchime replied 3 years ago

SO frustrating to have to pull back on walking, especially these days.  I hope the injury heals speedily and completely!  It’s great to see workout wear in action.  You and I have opposite length challenges; I could probably use that extra 1/8 on the bottom of a full-length pair!

  • kellygirl replied 3 years ago

You look SO sleek and fit! Love the fit of both of these items on you! Gorgeous!
