WIWW: Thanks to Angie and Inge

Sorry to be a forum hog! I am also posting and running but will be back later this evening to check responses.

I just had to share with you. Not styled, but arrived just in time for my trip!

When Angie speaks, I listen, so when she said she thought I needed the J. Crew tuxedo shirt, with shaking hands (over the cost) I ordered it. And oh -- it is so beautiful! What wonderful cotton! So soft and luxurious!

We all know that Inge has impeccable style sense as well, so when she linked me to the J. Crew boy shirt in the linen stripe...well...I went for that one, too.

Here they are, and thank you to Angie and Inge for your brilliant suggestions!

They are so fab, yes the shirts but Angie & Inge too! I listen to Angie too. She is so knowledgable. My style has improved so much due to YLF.
  • Ingunn replied 10 years ago
This is simply too. much. fabness. Gorgeous! I'm so proud to be in the J Crew tuxedo shirt club with Angie, Inge and you. Now I want the boy shirt. In linen stripe.
  • Karie replied 10 years ago
I love that shirt, Suz! I saw it recently at a J Crew store, so I know what it looks like IRL. You'll get so much wear out of it, that the cost per wear will be small. I passed it up, and now I'm having second thoughts (I'm kicking myself right now)! I love, love, love it on you :)
  • catgirl replied 10 years ago
You and these shirts are a match made in heaven, Suz.  I don't even bother with them because I can't hope to look so good.  You look edgy and elegant and classic all at once somehow...
  • Sarah S replied 10 years ago

Oh. Wow. You have made a super shopping decision getting both those shirts. I'm watching and learning, Suz.

  • pil replied 10 years ago

Wow, excellent recommendations and follow through! Are those your new True Religion jeans?

  • K. Period. replied 10 years ago
    They are beautiful on you!!!

Seriously, if that tux shirt had looked half that good on me, I'd have kept it. It is unbelievable how much nicer it fits you. Body shapes. Crazy. (Honestly, I love these moments, don't you? It makes it so clear that it isn't our bodies.  It is the clothes.  Not every item of clothing flatters every body type. So I can't own this, but I can adore it from afar!)

BTW, JCrew is running a 25% off promotion with code "Springbest."  I would call them and let them know that these just arrived today and ask them to adjust your price to reflect the discount.  I did that earlier this week and they said they could do it, no problem.  That oughta make it a little easier!
  • replied 10 years ago

Wow, they both are perfect on you!

  • DeniseP replied 10 years ago

You look fabulous! These shirts were made for you!
What brand of jeans are you wearing here? Like those, too.

  • Mona replied 10 years ago
So glad you decided to get these two babies. WOW! Suz. You look stunning in this style of shirt. Are these your new cameron BF's?
  • unfrumped replied 10 years ago
You do button downs so well. It's just YOU. These are great.
  • Thistle replied 10 years ago

FAB. Both so perfect, and fit your style to a T! Tat Angie and Inge know their stuff, and you were wise to pounce. :)

  • rae replied 10 years ago
Simply fantabulous! Aren't you a lucky girl to have personal shoppers all over the globe watching your fashionable back??
  • Ariadne replied 10 years ago
    Pure Suz perfection!
  • Sveta replied 10 years ago
    They both look perfect!
  • Transcona Shannon replied 10 years ago
    SO. PERFECT.
And you look amazing in those jeans Suz :)
  • velvetychocolate replied 10 years ago
Just chiming in to say I love both of these shirts on you - they are pure perfection.
  • Angie replied 10 years ago
    *happy dance*

Both are 20 out of 10! Wooohooooo! You look killer stunning, Suz! And I'm so glad you kept those jeans :)

(See. You pop on a top and it's nice. Then you pop on a shirt and it's WOW. That's how I feel all the time with Summer tops. I think you do too, Suz. That's why I wear lots of shirts. Our bods are more shirt-friendly than anything else.).

(Thanks for the sweet words, Suz and Elle).
  • Jaime replied 10 years ago
Excellent advice to buy, wise decision to listen, fabulous results!
  • Beth Ann replied 10 years ago
Shirt friendly bod!  Love that phrase!

These are made for your "bod" and your style.  Are they in your suitcase?
  • Suz replied 10 years ago
You had better believe they are in the suitcase, Beth Ann! Actually, I can hardly bear the thought of not wearing one right away...but then again, I don't want to get it all dirty in travel. So I will save it for the first evening of the conference. (I have a 2 day conference before the retreat.)

Thank you, Angie. You are very right (of course) about shirts being more flattering to me than most tops. My mother is the same. I have noticed it time and again. Even in her late 80s she looks pretty fab in a button down.

For all the jeans questions, yes, these are the True Religion Cameron boyfriend jeans. I love them! But I'm not bringing them on the trip, because I'm still trying to decide whether or not to hem them. I'm wearing the hems just folded under here...but it's not the best solution. They keep wanting to come down on me.

DeniseP, the jeans got mixed reviews here because many people do not care for the distinctive back pockets and/or the degree of slouch. But I really like wearing them a lot.

K can - I can't believe this tux shirt didn't look great on you! Hunh??? Everything looks great on you!! But THANK YOU for the code tip! I will call them up tomorrow and see what they say!

Rae, you are so right. YLF is a pretty amazing place when people help you out with such fantastic suggestions. We are a lucky bunch.

Thanks all - I will check in from the mountains!
  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 10 years ago
What Alaskagirl said! I love those jeans, too. You look fab unstyled!
  • Lantana replied 10 years ago

Suz, you can buy iron on hemming tape that you could temporarily use to shorten the jeans. Just peel it off later.

Oh, and I am in love with that white shirt.

    And with the striped shirt.

You sparkle and shine in them.

  • Lyn D. replied 10 years ago
Loving both these shirts Suz. Different enough that you will get lots of wear from both, depending on your mood.
And the fit looks so good- how did you manage this with online ordering??
  • Caro in Oz replied 10 years ago
These are just fantastic on you Suz & with the jeans - wow.
    Have a great trip:)
  • Suz replied 10 years ago

Lyn, I have the advantage of being able to try on some j crew items. There is no store in my city but there is a store in Toronto. They didn't have the tux shirt but I was able to try a different boy shirt there. Plus, Angie weighed in and I saw the shirts on Tanya, who has similar measurements. I still felt a bit unsure because I felt like I might be between sizes, but I ended up going with what Angie suggested.

Quick!....where's my coral crash helmet with the silver racing stripe!
    Oh no too late!...... *plonk*
  • nancylee replied 10 years ago
You look fabulous, Suz.  That tuxedo shirt is going to be a wardrobe workhorse for sure.

(Bootie twin!  I wore my Report Marks yesterday!)
  • sarah replied 10 years ago
    Perfection, Suz!!!!!!!!!!
  • K. Period. replied 10 years ago
Suz, my fit issues were the same as Natalie's.  The front stuck out over my chest-torial protrusions like a huge bib.  I felt like I was 6 months old! I'm just enjoying these shirts on you and Angie and Ingunn from afar. Just like Rae is going to enjoy the white TR Camerons on you from afar when you buy them and she returns them.  (Let the ganging up commence!)
  • Carole replied 10 years ago

It doesn't get any better than this! Love!

  • anne replied 10 years ago
You know Angie's comment was interesting. In some ways I share the features of the upper half of your body type and yet I don't feel that button downs look very good on me. I think I feel that I don't fill them out in the bust. Of course you and Angie are that bit more dainty (and Angie more busty)  than I am so maybe that makes the difference. I have just ordered one, so I'll see how it turns out.
  • Suz replied 10 years ago
Hmm. Anne, I wonder what would be going on with that? I find they look better on me (by far) when my hair is short so with your longer hair now you might not like them as much. Also, it has to be the right button down...some fit better than others. And it's really important for the fabric to display the right blend of crispness and drape. I dislike my denim button down (even though I love the colour) because it is too stiff and bulky. I feel frumpy in it.

Overall,  I think you also have to be at peace, in a sense, with the androgynous vibe.
  • anne replied 10 years ago
Suz, a very perceptive point there with the androgeny. I don't think I have an androgenous element to my style at all.  And my mother who is equally small busted (but more of a rectangle than me, with skinny legs) has always favoured button downs, but she has quite a tomboy sporty style.
  • Day Vies replied 10 years ago
I love both shirts. I think the stripes in #1 are fighting with the whiskering in the jeans. The tuxedo shirt is absolutely gorgeous!!!! I actually like it better with these jeans. I wish you'd shown it tucked with the red belt so I could compare side-by-side.
  • Inge replied 10 years ago
I have nothing new to add, as the ladies have already said it so eloquently, and I agree 200%. Both shirts are beyond perfect on you, Suz. The fit and styles look amazing, AND both are so very Suz that I want to squeal with delight. Love the way you have styled them here too, plus I'm super excited just thinking of all the different ways you can wear them. And such perfect timing too, now they can come along for your trip:-)

I also fully agree with Angie's statement: you and button-down shirts were made for each other, big time!!

Have a marvelous trip, super stylish Suz!

P.S. Thank you for your very sweet words.
