August Challenge: Part 1

My August challenge was to catch up on some Angie ensembles and, in the process, to rescue a few orphans and (maybe) cheer myself up a bit. I also had to prepare a travel capsule, but that turned out to be easy. I brought almost the same items as I took on my China travel capsule. Apart from one rainy day, the weather was exceptionally hot and sunny during the entire trip, so this capsule was perfect.

On to the Angie ensembles. I'll break up the posts over a few days and try to avoid forum-hogging. :)

The one I tried in multiple variations was light grey, white, animal print. I just love, love, love this ensemble. Mostly I tried it very casually, as you can see, for my work-from-home days and holidays, but I did have fun interpreting "animal print" to include my kitty print shirt. :) Wore that one to a meeting. (It also works as a cream/ black/ cognac ensemble).

Shorts in the photo are olive, but the ones I am wearing in the photo are grey. I inherited both olive and grey versions from my daughter's donate bag last year and have found them terrific.

Good God Suz... you are beyond gorgeous!
No kidding, I could never imagine something as simple as grey & white look this stunning on someone...but obviously you've made it happen!
    You look INCREDIBLE in shorts,but I think it's #4 this time that's stole my heart....ah! <hearts in my eyeballs>!!!
And...and...and ....I think I'm going to be obsessing majorly over those shoes you've got on in #4... gotta have them!

  • carter replied 8 years ago

These are really fantastic! You have really found the exact right shade and depth of gray to flatter your face brilliantly.

I can't figure out how I missed this ensemble post. I'm so glad you linked to it!

    Looking forward to the others!

These are wonderful versions of the ensemble. My favorites are 3 and 4, loving the crisp button-down shirts. Next is #1. Now I NEED grey striped tee. The fit and texture of the sleeveless top in #2 looks perfect. You have just the right pieces for a great warm weather grey and white capsule.

  • CocoLion replied 8 years ago

Love 3 and 4.  Where is the shirt in #3 from?  It's fantastic!

  • Dee replied 8 years ago

Great minimalist looks. 4 and 1 are my faves. You have a fantastic start on a grey and white capsule.

Like Carter, I also missed this ensemble post. I might need to invest in some animal print!

  • Runcarla replied 8 years ago

What an inspirational series! I would suggest that you have found your PPL for shorts with #2 and #3. So, so, so very flattering.

  • Word Lily replied 8 years ago

    I love 2 and 3!

I love the darker shade of cool greys on you - and my favourite look is #3. I just love that shirt - and I think we've all asked you where it came from in another post, didnt' we?  Zara, and of course, long gone ?  Anyways, I like it best because it's different, and just that much more interesting and polished with the crisp white shirt.   Those animal print sneaks sure have been good to you - and they'll go right through fall.

  • Dottie replied 8 years ago

I can see why you like this color combination because it really suits you beautifully.  I also love the unexpected pop with the animal print shoes. Perfection!

  • cheryle (Dianthus) replied 8 years ago

I like them all very much but the stripes in #1 look like you are ready to set sail on a private yacht.  I really like the crisp white shirt with the boyfriend shorts too and the pants outfit is just all around fab.

  • Gigi replied 8 years ago

You look beautiful in all of these outfits! Your legs are sooo lovely.

My absolute fave is 4. I think there's something about the color combinations that really makes it perfection. The Okalas are stunning with that outfit!

  • Suz replied 8 years ago

Aww. You guys sure know how to make a girl feel a bit better. Thank you so much. I do really like the grey and white and agree, Lisa, that the slightly bluer/ deeper mid tone grey is best. The shirt was, indeed, Zara, and is not available this year, but I think it has some similarities to this BR shirt that I also have my eye on. Except the high summer version.

Ankita, alas, those shoes are going to be tough to track down. They are the Sam Edelman Okalas in the pony hair and for some reason they don't seem to be making them any more. Angie also has them, and Shevia, and a few others here. I love this pony hair version and baby them like crazy (except I got caught in the rain in them earlier in the summer, blah!! Luckily -- they survived.)

Superfab! These are just great on you- good lengths and proportions all.
Aren't the Gap gray pants the best? You've inspired me to try some different combinations.
I've run low on animal print except sometimes buying " cool" gray versions, but I often find the ah, more realistic, warm colors better iterations especially in shoes, but don't want to skew too warm. Angie's ensembles and your challenge show ways to mix with grays- this makes sense because gray and brown leathers, cognac is pleasing. Goid way to keep cool colors as face colors but perhaps get more classic patterned footwear.

Stella outfits Suz. #3 is perfect - that shirt is fabulous on you.

  • Brooklyn replied 8 years ago

I love this ensemble. So simple and chic. My faves are nos 1 and 2. That shade of grey really suits you.

  • Karie replied 8 years ago

These are all fantastic, but #4 really knocks it out of the park for me. The kitty shirt and cow print Ocala's look super fab together!

  • Elly replied 8 years ago

I love these looks-- you make shorts look so good, which is hard to do "put together" that is.

  • E replied 8 years ago

You look so gorgeous in all of these! Such a treat. :D

  • Jaime replied 8 years ago

I am wowed with how good that silvery grey looks on you with white. Fantastic! #2 is my new standard retort to women over xx should not wear shorts. #4 is beautiful - love the bag too!

  • Sveta replied 8 years ago

You do wear light grey very well - didn't you say before that you prefer the darker greys? In any case the light grey does look great on you.
Shorts look gret - good save here. However #4 is my favorite here - effortless casual elegance. I am glad you are still enjoying these grey linen pants - mine were too big so they had to go :-(

  • Ankita replied 8 years ago

Oops! <bye-bye dreams of gorgeous shoe>
So cool that sp many of you here have these shoes, I can imagine why though....they're so stunning!
Maybe I'll just get happy looking at them on your feet then! Hehe!

  • Deborah replied 8 years ago

Gorgeous Suz! The grey tone is just lovely on you and so flattering! And you are rocking those shorts;).

  • Elizabeth P replied 8 years ago

I'm not sure how I missed this yesterday... you look fantastic in all of these Suz.  I was esp drawn to the tank top in #2, the diagonal striping on it is so flattering and unusual.  Great job with the interpretations!  I actually think taking an ensemble and wearing it a bunch of ways like this is really informative... I tend to take them and try them in one iteration, and then forget about them.  Hmm...

Ankita, that particular design of Okala isn't available, but there are others... and they do keep adding new ones, so keep your eyes open.  It seems to be a style of SE shoes still going strong.  I like this one:

    And have this one:  http://www.samedelman.com/en-U.....Okala.aspx

  • Suz replied 8 years ago

Thanks, all. And Elizabeth's right about the Okalas -- they're available in lots of iterations and I just added a new version to my own closet! :)

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

((((HUGS))). How are you doing, sweet Suz? You look radiant, but I know  you're somewhat sad on the inside. It gets better with time.

You OWN THIS LOOK. WOW. Best casual and smart casual rendition of this ensemble I've seen. The white makes it pop and look extra crisp. Fun pattern mixing too. Animal print footwear is magical. I vote killer all round!

And which Okalas did you recently add to your wardrobe?

  • jackiec replied 8 years ago

Wow, Suz, you certainly nailed this ensemble, over and over!!! Simple but stunning. I, too, love that crisp Zara top. Wow. I hope you felt a little cheered up by your fresh fun outfits, they project happiness on the outside :).

  • Suz replied 8 years ago

I will show them, Angie. They are called "Latte" I think and they are actually a textured pale gold. Unfortunately, the Find would only come up as black -- must be a fault of the Hudson's Bay site. So I've just collected from Amazon as well.

And I'll put them on with an outfit soon and model them soon. They are an upgrade for my old cheap R&W gold slingbacks that always fell off my feet.

I bought 4 pairs of shoes last week!!!! But that is another post. Retail therapy all the way here.

And thank you for your kind words. I'm feeling pretty rocky this week.

Jackie, this kind of grey would look gorgeous on you, too! Just saying!

  • Angie replied 8 years ago

Perfect. I love those, Suz. And look forward to seeing them in an outfit.

  • Firecracker (Sharan) replied 8 years ago

You really rock your shorts outfits, Suz! I think the white is great on you, too. All of these outfits are fantastic. I melted over the last one, though. It seems every time I see you in those Okalas I feel a fainting spell coming on. That outfit is so ladylike and relaxed looking on you. Sophisticated, casual, chic.

  • Maneera replied 8 years ago

You look fabulous. You own this grey and white look like noone's business!

I love #4. I'm marveling at your ability to mix such simple pieces and look so absolutely stunning......it's your smile and your personality that takes EVERY SINGLE outfit you wear up a notch or two.

Your clothes fit, drape and flatter to perfection. Your wardrobe loves you back, Suz! And I love your WIWs!

  • Style Fan replied 8 years ago

All great looks Suz but #4 is my fav.  How sweet is that shirt.  I agree that light grey is a great colour on you.

  • Sara L. replied 8 years ago

These are great outfits!  I love the leopard print sneakers with the white and grey.  I have very similar sneakers but it's been too hot here for closed toe shoes.  I'm looking forward to wearing them this fall.
