White Jeans Season

With apologies to friends in other parts of the world, we've had a week of fabulous weather here in the Pacific Northwest, and I am grateful for small things.

I don't have a full length mirror and can't get my DSLR set up for photos at the moment, so can't take photos. But I can give you an idea of my outfits via Finds.

Not going anywhere (except for walks). So everything is casual as can be.

Outfit 1: BR wide legs (white); BR gingham shirt; BR cardigan, Ecco sneakers (outside shoes).

Outfit 2: Same jeans, J. Crew western shirt, White Eccos,

Outfit 3: Same jeans (yep, I got 3 days out of them before wash!); leopard blush sweater, white Ecco sneakers, red cardigan, red scarf.

Outfit 4:  White Gap GF jeans (rolled), LL Bean Mariner, new Sorel sandals (comfy/ springy soles!), butterfly print scarf.

Outfit 5: Chelsea 28 crops (very old -- now my gardening pants because they are stretchy/ comfy). LL Bean Mariner; Fitflops.

Nothing special, to be sure. But I love wearing my white jeans again! It's not that I refuse to wear them in winter so much as that they don't feel right with the light. The minute the sun endures a bit longer is the minute I want to wear again.

I really like the BR wide legs. They might be generously sized but work for me with my long rise.

My (current) sweatshirts/ hoodies -- and where shall I find my new one?

I like sweatshirts and hoodies both as fashion and as gear/ loungewear. I tend to wear them more for very casual situations but occasionally I'll throw a sweatshirt over a skirt for a fun juxtaposition (like a graphic tee with a skirt) and sometimes I'll wear a soft cashmere hoodie under a blazer.

The first four are my current versions. 1 cashmere stripe from Boden (winter), one cashmere/ wool blend from Zella (very pilly, even with attention and care, but too darn useful to let go of yet!), one merino blend one from Icebreaker (mostly gear/ lounge; cross seasonal), and one cotton terry cropped one from J. Crew (more as a winter "tee" or a spring/summer "warmup.")

I have to say my favourite sweatshirt ever was a BR one with sequins I had some years back. It was so much fun!

I would like a new, brighter, spring-like one. Any suggestions for me? I think the bubblebum pink that Angie got from BR is adorable but too warm a pink for me?

New house, new closet

I know. Who moves in the middle of an order to "shelter in place." But what are you going to do? "Move" was my word of the year, after all. Ironic, or what? ;)

We have been in our new house now for just over 3 weeks and finally we have all our stuff. So I spent yesterday organizing my closet. What a great feeling it is to be in control of something! I can't wait to get to work on our bathroom cupboards next, although I'm going to need to purchase a few storage containers for those.

I have most of our relatively spacious bedroom closet for my clothes. Mr. Suz is going to store his "off season" trousers in this closet, and we have our iron and supplies here, but he is keeping the bulk of his clothing in the guest room because he likes the layout of that closet better. Did I luck out, or what?

The rental house in Vancouver had a HUGE closet, so this one, while generous by most standards, actually feels "just right" for my stuff. Fortunately, the house as a whole has a massive amount of storage, so even if we have to keep things a little differently than we did in the past, there is still going to be plenty of space for everything.

First, Photos 1-7 are the "dresser" (actually an antique cabinet -- some of you might remember this from my house in Kingston -- I haven't had it for 2 years!)

Outside looking in -- baskets are useful! The top drawers contain bras and camis and sports bras. The baskets have workout tops and cotton sweaters, Kondo style. The bottom shelf is for jeans.

Next, the closet, photos 8-15. Jackets on lower rack, blouses/ shirts on top. My bags are hung in the back of the closet on a scarf hanger (!) with a small Ikea container for smaller bags/ clutches, etc.

Ikea containers hold knit tops/ tees, and other items. Accessories/ scarves on middle shelf, rolled. The top stores most of my winter items that won't be in use now -- heavier knits, warmer trousers, etc. I have winter footwear in the basement for now. And we also have a separate place for coats.

I definitely need a shoe rack but don't have one at the moment, so dressy shoes are in plastic bins up top and just a few pairs that I'll be wearing regularly on the ground. It's not perfect, but at least I have my things and know where they are.

Thanks for looking!

In praise of wearing an actual outfit.

I'm one of those who devolved into wearing a lot of loungewear for the first few weeks of distancing. Partly because we are in the midst of a move. (I know. Great timing, right?) Some of our things are still back in Vancouver, so much of my wardrobe hasn't been available to me. Plus, the weather (and my mood) kept calling for extra-cozy clothing.

But today the sun came out, the temperatures rose, and I wore an actual "outfit" of sorts! Nothing fancy, you understand. Just an ordinary, very typical spring outfit for me. No photo, alas. I still don't have a full length mirror and didn't get a selfie.

Still, I got a compliment!! Yes!! A runner passing by said, "I love your outfit!"

It's enough to make me put on real clothes again every day! :)
