Beijing Style Part 3

A few more shots from Beijing!

1. Cons are popular here and in Shanghai and Hangzhou as well. I was curious about the Marimekko pairing. I saw the same shop front in Shanghai.

2. On the street.

3. In the art district. These two were not even posing!

4. In the art district. So much fun!

Great pictures Suz. #3 is a really cool shot. I had to do a double take looking at #4.

  • Caro in Oz replied 11 years ago

Nice. I did a double take too at #4 - thanks for sharing.

Fun shots. I've been lusting over a pair of Marimekko Cons for ages.

Thanks for sending all the pics. There is such variety in the fashions and people aren't afraid to be creative in their outfits. I love some of the flat shoes - stylish and comfy too!
Are you having a good holiday? What does your daughter think so far?

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Thank you, missive. We are having a very good time, yes, and our daughter is soaking it all up. She hasn't said a whole lot about what she is thinking and feeling because she needs some time to process it all. But she has eaten up a storm!!! Always a good sign!

So glad you're having a good time Suz - pic #4 just makes me smile! I can't get over how clean the streets look.

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Very interesting observation, Shannon. Naturally, not all the streets are this clean; there are some sections of the hutongs that are not this tidy and because these are ancient and very polluted cities you do see dirt and wear-and-tear. But there is far less litter than you see in most North American cities. That is partly because there are MANY people employed to clean the streets and they work around the clock! We found the same was true in Shanghai and also Hangzhou.

    Fascinating pictures!

Ooh is that in 798? Congrats on getting all the way out there, it's such a unique place. Are there any particularly cool exhibitions there right now?

Also, good job on capturing the copycat style of local girls here - it's sooo common for an entire 6-person dorm room of girls to get the same exact pair of shoes, and to wear them out together :P

Thanks for posting these pics, Suz! Great fun :)

How fab is #3!!! And the lady in #1 is so stylish :)

Are you having great food too?

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Angie, if you think the fashion is fun....

We have eaten outrageously well. I may have to be rolled home! Once I get there I will share a few food pics in our off topic section. :-)

I can't wait to see those pics, Suz!! Greg and I are huge foodies :)

Glad that you are literally having plenty of feasts too - not just feasting on street fashion.

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

Ann Boleyn, it IS 798, yes, and it was so much fun; we had a wonderful day there. We saw some terrific exhibitions. One of Chinese photography - it was fantastic. And another by a mixed group of Chinese and European artists, a sort of conceptual show, different interpretations of walls and windows. Lots of fun outdoor sculpture, too.

I love how the bag echos the pole in the street in #2. Thanks for the great shots!

Some really nice photos, too funny the jeans on the stair railing!

  • Carole replied 11 years ago

Great shots, Suz! Love that last one, how fun.
